I would recommend Craig Beardsley and his team at BRIK-Art to anyone needing a landscaping job, big or small. I contacted Craig in October 2013. He was very honest with me in telling me that his work-load would not allow his starting on my relatively small paving job until December, and quite possibly January 2014. He was so confident, organized and personable that I knew this was an individual and a firm I could count on. He did start and finish the job IN ONE DAY in January, and I couldn't be happier. He researched and found remnant stone from a bigger landscaping job, thereby saving me a significant amount of money in materials. His crew showed up on time, were polite, careful and thorough.
Description of Work: BRIK-Art installed a stone paving walk in front of my home.

They were very professional and prompt - I"m very satisfied with their work. Craig came out to give an estimate and within 2 weeks we were able to schedule the job. His workers were very courteous and professional and answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. I would highly recommend Brik Art - and would hire them again without question.
Description of Work: Brik Art helped me design and build out an extension on my front porch. It was originally a small step up to my front door, and he extended it with concrete and brick trim.

Before having the mortar refilled on the front porch a 1906 family Craftsman, we had a number of people (mostly handymen) inspect the work that had to be done. We have a large, 107 year old brick front porch, that is about 30 ft x 8 ft. The mortar was extremely old, it was decaying, and bricks were falling out of place. We had four different companies perform consultations, three of the four were either unrealistic with their quotes and were unwilling to negotiate; and/or their solutions were too invasive. Some companies wanted to remove every brick (which there must be thousands), remoter, and reset them. That was most definitely not what we had in mind. Craig (the owner of Brick-Art) was a refreshing change from the brutish and annoying tendencies of the other guys. He was punctual for the consultation, friendly, very approachable, as well as incredibly knowledgeable. He inspected the work that had to be done and after 15 minutes or so; he presented a straightforward and noninvasive solution to our problem. I believe his solution was called "piping" or "re-piping" the mortar; which is a technique where one can fill in mortar where it is needed, without removing the brick itself. The best part was that he was very open to price negotiation. Craig was very easygoing and non-hostile during the entire process. Work started the next day. Craig was on location for the first half of the day (this was an all day project) and my brother in-law's girlfriend supervised the work. Craig, as well as his guys, were not only professional, but they were also very receptive to working with women. Never once did Craig or his employees act differently towards me, my wife, or brother in-law's girlfriend during the work or negotiation. That is not something I can say about the other guys. After the work that Craig and his crew performed, I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who wants fair, honest, timely, and expert work done at a fair price.

BrikArt owner Craig and his workers did an amazing job on my home. What was once an ordinary stucco home is now a gorgeous brick home. I had 375 sq feet of brick veneer around the bottom half of my home and had the entire front porch extended. My neighbors have stopped by to compliment the exquisite makeover. I will definitely hire BrikArt in the near future to replace my patio. Thank you, Craig, for a job well done.

Job went quickly. They responded with estimate via email within a few days and completed job within about a week Two men finished the job and did not damaged the plants in the area which were close to the wall. We would hire again for future.
Description of Work: Added 1-2 courses of concrete block on top of an existing wall. Removed old cap, drilled into old part of wall, implaced reinforcing steel #4bar set in epoxy to tie the old with the new wall, added new block and filled with concrete with a finished new cap.

Showed up as promised and the work turned out well. Only complaint is they did not properly insulate our front doors and windows and a great deal of dust made its way into our house. As soon as we pointed it out, they made the proper adjustments but, by then, the inconvenience had already happened. However, we think they learned a valuable lesson about working on older homes and would not want that to dissuade members from checking them out. Their work is quite good.

This is an outstanding brick paver provider. Brik Art was highly professional, provided an excellent product with very skilled craftsmanship, and the end result was an outstanding piece of work, consisting of a new paved walk way and paver steps matching my existing patio and leading to a new shed in the backyard. I would not hesitate to use BrikArt again. They were absolutely great.

Craig provided a detailed estimate (which he stuck to). Craig and his team were on time, very nice and professional. His team stayed very late to level the concrete once it was dry enough. I had Brikart back a few weeks later to remove the remnants of a tree stump and fill the space with more concrete. Later, Craig also applied a water sealant to the new concrete and the rest of my walkways. Update: Its been 10 months since the work was done and everything is still good. No cracks or crevices in any of the concrete. It all still looks great. I would not hesitate to use Brikart again.
Description of Work: Brikart replaced a brick walkway whose time had come. The walkway was breaking apart and mold/slime was growing on it and in between the now loose bricks. Brikart removed all of the old bricks, leveled the surface beneath and filled the space with new concrete.

I got quotes from four different companies. Craig's was the lowest. The project entailed: -Demolishing a crumbling property wall and erecting a new cinder block one in its place. -Replacing lava rock/cement planters with river rock. -Redoing a patio with paving stones. -Building a pathway of paving stones. -Grouting/grinding big cracks in cement block walls. -Building brick retainer to support listing brick BBQ. -Patching various chipped bricks and cracks in driveway. The crew worked very hard and finished in about 3 weeks. When I told Craig I was unhappy with something, he was gracious and professional enough to offer to redo the work. He was also very patient in dealing with obnoxious neighbors and difficult city inspectors. I was hesitant to write a review just yet, since the work is still in progress, but Craig freely admitted when an initial approach didn't work and genuinely seems to care that we get the aesthetic I'm after. That speaks volumes.

We recently had two large trees removed that were too close to our pool and had caused the roots to crack and raise large segments of our pool surround. Craig came by for a free estimate and walked me through the best options to repair/replace. He was able to work around my weekday schedule and accomplished the job on a Friday - Saturday. Craig and team were extremely knowledgeable about the work they were doing. Craig even went through some on-site options with me as the work was being done, which actually brought my total cost down. The job was completed by noon that Saturday and cleaned up nicely. We were able to enjoy our backyard the remainder of the day. Craig and team did a great job and I would definitely use them again.

Great. Craig is flexible and easy to work with. For the first time in dealing with a contractor, I did not feel like I was being gouged when I decided to change some of the work mid-stream. At my request, he made several adjustments and additions to the projects during the course of the work, and I felt like the prices he charged (if any) for the change orders were extremely fair. Craig's crew foreman, Charley, also is the best crew foreman I've ever worked with in 20 years of home ownership. Charley was on site every day, and he was extremely responsive to each request and question I had. Very knowledgeable on a wide range of home repair issues. I did these projects over the course of about three months. If there was any downside to working with Craig, it was that he runs a small company, and he was busy with several other jobs while I was working with him, so my projects sometimes lingered for a bit. But waiting a bit was not a big issue for me. As I told Craig, I was generally flexible as to time. Moreover, Craig was always very responsive to my timing and other inquiries, and he kept me informed when his crew needed to focus on other jobs.

Everything about Brik-Art was terrific from the start. Although I did get several other estimates, I wanted to feel entirely confident that a professional would take the time to make sure everything went well, and I really thought Craig would be the best person to do that. He always returned calls promptly, showed up when he said he would, went out of his way to point out various things I might want to consider. I was a bit hesitant, as brick veneer was a new concept to me, but was never rushed, just encouraged to look at installations, and look at pictures to be sure I knew exactly what was possible and what I wanted. They were able to begin the project when I wanted, and Craig and his crew were just a pleasure to have around. They were quiet, respectful, professional, friendly, on time, did beautiful work, and when I expressed concern about something one evening, not having noticed before they left, they all turned around and returned to my house, and ripped out quite a large section before it set, so they'd be able to replace it the next day. I was very impressed that not only was Craig wonderful about that, but his crew wasn't the least bit snarky about it - which is pretty unusual in my experience. In fact, both Charlie and Edgar went out of their way to show me interesting things about both the material and their work when I appeared interested, and never intimated that my curiosity was interfering with their work. They actually seemed to not only be interested in, but enjoy what they were doing, and I always felt they were not just fulfilling a contract, but trying their best to make me happy that I'd hired them, and they did indeed accomplish that. They worked quickly, and we are so impressed with the difference the new brick has made to the overall appearance of our home. Going through old photos the other day, I found one of the old porch, and realized what a huge improvement the new brick is. It looks like it was done yesterday, although it's been nearly half a year, and I was embarrassed to realize I hadn't written a report yet. I should also note that if I'd seen Craig's portfolio before I called him, I wouldn't have imagined he would be interested in such a small job as mine. He's done some very large, complicated, and impressive jobs, but not for one minute did I ever feel our small job was any less important than any of his others, and in fact, if they were doing other jobs at the same time, it wasn't apparent. I felt every effort was concentrated on completing our work in the quickest and most professional manner, and I really can't say enough good things about them or recommend them any higher. I can't imagine how they could have done any better, and would highly recommend Craig and his team as talented, completely reasonable and responsible (and caring) professionals. What more could you ask for?
Description of Work: Installed brick veneer over cracked concrete front porch and 2 sets of steps, after tweaking the slope and drilling small holes in the base for drainage as needed. Repaired brick planter which had been bashed into by a car, and touched up the brick and mortar on two other older planters which needed cosmetic repairs.

Communicated with Craig about when I'd need my walkway repaired about a week before sewer line work. Craig and his workers showed up when I needed work completed. Job was completed late afternoon, and a couple workers remained a few hours after as they waited for concrete to set harder for finishing with broom. Have used Craig before and always pleased with good communication and workmanship.

Craig was chosen out of 3 carefully vetted contractors because his answers to my questions were knowledgable, considerate and specific. His was not the cheapest quote, nor was it the most expensive but since I am trusting the individual to basically build a life support system for my koi, thoroughness and enthusiasm ranked high in my decision. He asked a lot of good questions! I had the hole mostly dug out but Craig dug a bit deeper for a more hefty footer for the concrete blocks. I had a plumbing layout which Criag used to create various opening in the walls. The pit is approximately 6' deep x 7' wide x 10' long. It had vertical rebar every other cell in the blocks and horizontal rebar every 3rd row. He cast in threaded studs to frame the roof of the structure and also cast the floor and sump pit. The sump pit it about 18" wide and a further 24" deep from the pit floor. Craig waterproofed this area as this would have occasional standing water. Changes and adjustments to scope of work were handled very professionally. Sometimes contractors can be a little irritated about these things but Craig is an honest and straightforward person and we simply talked through a lot of possibilities. Craig was very insistant about me being on site which is something I'm not acustomed to hearing from contractors. All-in-all the work went smoothly and on schedule. The workers at Brik-Art employed left the property well organized each day. The filter pit is finally up and running and I am a very pleased customer of Brik-Art and am planning on using Craig's services again this Spring.

A crew of approximately 5 men arrived on time (actually early) and very efficiently removed more than 70 feet of brick walkway along the perimeter edge about 3 bricks in. They flattend out the dirt surface and removed roots and then poured a layer of concrete to ensure the bricks did not continue to slide. They started in the morning and completed the job late afternoon. They left the landscaping as neat and clean as they had found it. Overall, they did an excellent job and I will use them again in the future.

They did a super job - we were very happy with the results. There were "high patches" and "low patches" in our back patio (sand not concrete, so they could be removed easily and re-laid). They used a new kind of sand (polymer sand) in between the bricks that adheres to them and looks like mortar (although I think it looks better) that acts as a moisture barrier. The owner called a week later to ask if there were any issues and generally if we were happy - which we were (and are).

Everything was excellent. Craig was timely in coming out for the estimate. He was able to give me an alternative method that saved me a great deal of money and would still last for many years to come (I discussed his ideas with others who were knowledgeable about masonry and they agreed). The job was scheduled and completed quickly and efficiently. Both Craig and his assistant are both extremely kind and helpful, even doing little extra things to help me. The wall is beautifully done. I am extremely pleased, so much so that I am hiring him to do some other work on my property.

After a high quote and one botched attempt at restoring our fireplace, I called Brik-art. Craig, the owner, came out within a couple of business days. Not only does Craig really know his stuff, but he's also an excellent communicator/educator and great all-around guy He provided an estimate on a Monday (best quote out of 3 I received) and the masonry work was done by Friday. Additionally, he recommended brickyards to visit and a craftsman to build a custom mantel (who we used and was included in the total price we paid Brik-art). We could not be more pleased with our new fireplace!
