This company is very competent. They have their own specialists for all the installations. The job was done in a timely professional manner. I am very pleased with the installation and the functioning of this water heater. I have also used Around the Clock for my central air system installation and have a maintenance plan with them- they are reliable, competent, and their prices are competitive and fair.
Description of Work: Installation of Noritz tankless water heater. A prefilter, new piping, and a new electrical outlet were also required for the water heater.

They are wonderful. We spent $600 or $700 during the first time and then the second time it was $100. They were here when they said they were going to be here. They were clean and honest. They were smart. They knew exactly what they were doing. There was no lying. They came and just did a great job. They did it neatly too. There was nothing that we thought that they could improve on. We would use them again in the future.

I thought my heater wasn't working, after several hours the house did not get warmer even though I could feel "luke warm" air coming from the vents. I had used this company before to replace the AC condenser and was very happy with their work. When I called them again, Erick, came over and the heater was working properly. He didn't charge me for a service fee, which was really appreciated. The heater now seems to be fine, so hopefully it was just a fluke that it did not work the first time I tried it. If not, I would definitely call them back to make any repairs.

He replaced the unit. 5 weeks later I had a home inspector who represented buyers on my home write in his report that the new condenser unit was leaking air and needed to be corrected. Alex was called out again and extensively sealed the unit, something he didn't do or mention the first time. While he was out this time, Alex mentioned that because the unit was a retrofit, there would always be some air leakage. If I hadn't had the buyer's inspection of the unit, I would have never known there was a problem. This should have been done correctly the first time.
Description of Work: My AC lines were freezing up and wasn't cooling on a very hot day. Alex came out and diagnosed the problem - my evaporator unit needed to be replaced.

Alex replaced your evaporator unit. Your condenser unit was replaced by someone else. When you called and complained about air leakage Alex came back and fixed it free of charge something that was done by another Co.

They did a clean job. I will certainly call them again in the future. I have an annual contract with them.

Description of Work: Our ac failed. No air was coming out. I called them at 4pm and they setup an appt for the next day. They arrived at the time they promised. Found the ac's capactor had failed. He relaced it, check coolant level, cleaned out filter. Everything worked great. He taught me about my air filter housing and how to replace and what to buy, showed me how the ac and the furnace work together/share components and helped me understand my system better. I was so happy with them I setup my regular maintenance with them (new home owner, havnt set it up yet)

When tech put his gages on condenser he determined there was a leak somewhere in the system, so the coolant had leaked out. He said he could recharge it but it would likely not last too long. He suggested that you might want to consider buying a new unit as this one was over 25 years old then you said go ahead and recharge it. When you called in 3 month we offered to apply $450 towards buying a new unit. We still waiting for your answer.

The electrician, Oleg, was very friendly and professional. He even fixed two problems which were unrelated to the electrical upgrade. The electrical passed on the first inspection. Oleg is an independent electrical contractor. His phone number is 310-500-9193. Al Uchitel of Around the Clock was very professional. The air conditioner/heater failed the first inspection because an existing vent contained asbestos. Even though he had already been paid, Al promptly removed the asbestos and installed a new vent. The unit then passed inspection. I am very satisfied with Around the Clock.

Excellent service from start to finish. Michael, the area sales manager, was very thorough and did not try to oversell. Brought up points that I had not thought about, but were very reasonable suggestions. Suggested we increase from 2 to 4 zones to deal with the very warm/cold older sections of our home and the less used upstairs section of the house. He made clear exactly what was to be done. Worked to maximize rebates vs total cost of system. Installers were very efficient with minimal disruption to our lifestyle and cleanliness. Excellent job. Al, the owner, came on the first day to discuss installation plan with installers and supervised the 3 day installation process. On the last day, he came to explain how to work the thermostats. He is very patient and takes time to answer all questions. After everyone had left, my cat was missing. I called frantically called Al and he called his installers to ask if they had seen her. She reappeared from deep within the attic after 2 hours. The next day, Al called to ask if we had found the cat. I was very impressed with Al's concern and customer support!! Enjoying our A/C system during these hot San Fernando valley summer days. The four zones are great and are thankful Michael suggested it. Great referral from Costco and Angie's list. Would highly recommend Around the Clock.

They went to my rental property the same day I called, which was greatly appreciated considering it's been over 100 degrees for days and other AC companies were too busy for same day service. Alex called to tell me the fuse was blown and he could replace the fuse for $130 or replace the whole electrical box with a non-fuse type for $320. Their regular service call is $65, which is reasonable, and which gets applied to the total if work is done. I thought $130 was bit high to replace a $10 part, but because the weather is so hot, I agreed. I then remembered the Angie's List coupon for $20 off and called the office to make sure they would honor the coupon. I was told that the coupon HAD been applied, and that the cost was actually $150 minus the $20. When I expressed my displeasure at the cost for such a minor repair, the woman in the office agreed to charge me $130 minus the $20 coupon for a total of $110. Considering that some other companies charge $100 just to come out, $110 for the work done is reasonable. So, wherease the cost started out high, the final charge was very reasonable and I appreciate the added discount.

My experience was fine in the original installation. However, they did not properly install the back split unit which led to it ceasing to work before three years had passed.. The company spokesperson ( the woman answering the phones) has a very thick accent and pretended not to understand me except when it was time to state they needed to replace the unit due to a rat eating through the wiring. This was not the case. Many companies do not stock split units and hire outside contractors to install them. This company took a very large check from me but I never saw the owner look at the work once the air conditioning and heating units were installed.
Description of Work: When I bought my home, I hired Around The Clock to put in split unit air conditioning and heating throughout my home and remove the old system. It was very costly and worked fine for about 2.5 years. At that point, my back unit was not functioning properly, no cold or hot air was coming out. Around the Clock promptly sent someone out to fix it and the cost was around 250.00. A few months later, the unit again stopped working. I called the company and they quickly sent out a man promptly to assess the situation. My warranty was finished. Their repair man stated that a rat had chewed through the rubber and metal and the unit had to be replaced. Cost was over 4,000. I then called to speak to management and was never allowed to speak to anyone but the woman answering the phones. She told me that it was not their fault and that machines fail and this failure was due to a rat. She stated that it was not fixable and I would have to buy a new one. Repeatedly, I asked to speak to the owner but she refused to put him on the phone and he did not return phone messages I left after hours. I spoke with my handy man about the problem. He has a friend who works for an air conditioning company and said his friend would have a look. This repair man said the unit had been improperly installed and that the cords were not properly insulated and just were sun burned . For a total of 300.00, the repair man replaced the tubing and wires that were laying on the ground and put a bracket on the wall to raise i off the ground where it had been laying. My repair man fixed the unit to perfect working order The story the repairman from Around The Clock gave was untrue and had I not looked into it further, would have replaced an entire air conditioning unit that is built to last 20 years. I could never recommend this company. They do not stand behind their work, they make it impossible to speak to persons in authority once they have your big money and the woman running the phones is rude and combative.

Response from Around The Clock Heating & Air Conditioning Inc
Upon reviewing this member’s write-up, I, the owner, investigated this matter. I reviewed all records pertaining to this customer and determined that the installation occurred in 2005 (not 2 ½ years ago, as stated by the customer). The price stated in the write-up was also overstated by almost double. All of these inconsistencies aside, our records reflect that the last visit to the location was in August, 2008 when our service representative determined that a breaker was tripped and turned it back on. There were no other contacts with this customer until the subject write-up appeared on Angie’s List in August of this year – 2011. No one in our company has a record of speaking with this member. Our organization continues to pride itself on excellent, efficient, and responsive service to our customers and takes all customer concerns seriously. Our more than 300 Angie’s List feedbacks from customers demonstrate our outstanding service and our responsiveness to customer needs. The owner has always been and continues to be available to respond to any customer issues. We can only conclude that this member contacted a different company and had an unsatisfactory experience. We continue to stand by our excellent reputation and provide high quality service.

The outdoor compressor unit of our central AC system suddenly began humming loudly but not operating, so that only warm air was recirculating in the house each time the thermostat turned the system on. We suspected (correctly, as it turned out) that the capacitor needed replacement. I called Around the Clock at 7:30 a.m. and they offered to come out as early as 9 the same day; they were also happy to come later, and the repair person (Eric) arrived on schedule in the middle of the two-hour window. He diagnosed the problem and replaced the capacitor, which he had on the truck. He also honored the $20 Angie's List coupon for the repair. Clearly, $255 (of which $65 was for the service call) is expensive for this service; as others have pointed out, a capacitor is an inexpensive part. However, we had purchased our house with an older, unfamiliar AC system already installed, and I'm content to pay extra for this service at least once if it means having working AC courteously and competently repaired almost instantly, especially in the middle of a heatwave. A less honest vendor might have tried to sell us a new motor unit, which was not necessary, but nothing of the kind happened here. Also, both the telephone scheduler and Eric the technician were extremely helpful and courteous (and even had a sense of humor). The AC is working perfectly again. All in all, this was a decent experience, and I would use Around the Clock again.

Fantastic! They were able to be at my house within 2 hours of my call. My AC was blowing hot air. The line to the AC unit was frozen. He told me my fan wasn't working and replaced the part immediately, then he told me I needed freon. He said that my unit was not up to code (no surprise, previous owner did all work himself) and that it was missing a whole part up in the attic, the "pan" for when the unit doesn't work. Kind of like a backup. He quoted me a price for that and came back on a Sunday to install it. I inquired about a screw that was missing from the filter cover. He said it would be hard to find and drilled another hole and added a new screw! He even reattached my AC control unit to my wall because it was falling off - at no extra cost. FANTASTIC! The items that I was charged for seemed pricey but I really trusted this guy (I'm 6 months pregnant and was alone at the time). He worked quickly, happily, and honestly. Highly recommended!

The total time less than 10 minutes. The capacitor cost a little less than $40 online ( this approximate amount from a number of sources)--I found this out after he left. I think we were charged too much for a less than ten minute switch-out of a faulty capacitor --$265 (and that after applying the $20 coupon we had from Angie's list). If the part was only $40 and the cost for the trip $65 I would have expected a $105 bill or less, not $285 (or $265 with coupon).
Description of Work: Our AC unit was not functioning--just blowing hot air. We contacted the company based on the good ratings on Angie's List. They said they would charge a $65 charge to come out and that that amount would be incorporated into the total bill for whatever services they might perform. They came promptly the next morning. The Tech determined that a 55 microfarad capacitor on the AC unit was bad and replaced it and then he checked if the freon level was ok--it was.

Response from Around The Clock Heating & Air Conditioning Inc
IT COSTS A LOT OF MONEY TO RUN AN ORGANIZATION THAT IS PREPARED TO RESPOND RAPIDLY FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF WHO CALL US IN A CRISIS BECAUSE THEIR COMFORT SYSTEM HAS BROKEN DOWN DURING EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS. YOU DON’T WANT TO WAIT UNTIL WE CAN GET AROUND TO IT. THAT MEANS WE NEED EXTRA RESOURCES STANDING BY. UNFORTUNATELY, FASTER SERVICE IS MORE EXPENSIVE. YES, THERE ARE SOME IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT CHARGE LESS. THERE ARE SOME THAT HIRE LESS QUALIFIED PERSONNEL, WHO MAKE LOTS OF MISTAKES AND MUST GO BACK AND CORRECT THEM. THERE ARE SOME THAT DO NOT TRAIN THEIR WORKFORCE TO KEEP THEM UP TO SPEED WITH CURRENT CODES AND PRACTICES. THERE ARE SOME THAT DRIVE BEAT-UP OLD TRUCKS, WHICH WILL LEAK OIL ALL OVER YOUR DRIVEWAY OR IN FRONT OF YOUR HOME. THERE ARE SOME THAT DO NOT CONDUCT BACKGROUND CHECKS ON THEIR EMPLOYEES OR PERFORM DRUG TESTS TO ENSURE THAT YOU WON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A SERVICE TECHNICIAN RETURNING AT NIGHT TO ROB YOU TO SUPPORT A DRUG HABIT (PLEASE DO NOT SCOFF; THIS IS A VERY REAL PROBLEM IN OUR INDUSTRY). THERE ARE SOME THAT DO NOT CARRY THE PROPER LEVEL OF INSURANCE TO PROTECT YOU IN THE EVENT OF A CATASTROPHE. THERE ARE SOME THAT CUT A LOT OF CORNERS. I CAN UNDERSTAND HOW YOU MIGHT BE UPSET. IF YOU WALKED INTO A NICE STEAK HOUSE FOR DINNER, YOU MIGHT ALSO BE UPSET TO LEARN THAT YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN A DINNER AT A BUFFET STYLE RESTAURANT FOR FAR LESS. DIFFERENT BUSINESSES CHARGE DIFFERENT PRICES FOR WHAT APPEAR TO BE SIMILAR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES EVERY DAY. YET, RARELY ARE THE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES TRULY THE SAME. THERE ARE ALWAYS DIFFERENCES. WHEN YOU CALLED US, YOU MAY NOT HAVE WANTED THE QUALITY OF SERVICE AND LEVEL OF PROTECTION WE OFFER. YOU DID WANT OUR SPEED OF RESPONSE, HOWEVER. THE PROBLEM IS THE QUALITY OF SERVICE, LEVEL OF PROTECTION, AND SPEED OF RESPONSE COME TOGETHER AS A PACKAGE. WE CAN’T BREAK THEM APART OR ISOLATE ONE ASPECT OF OUR SERVICE FROM ANOTHER. I THINK IT’S FAIR TO SAY THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT COST WHEN YOU AGREED TO THE SERVICE, JUST LIKE YOU UNDERSTOOD THE COST OF A DINNER WHEN YOU ORDER FROM THE MENU AT A RESTAURANT. I’M NOT HERE TO MAKE EXCUSES. I MERELY WANTED TO OFFER AN EXPLANATION WHY WE CHARGE WHAT WE CHARGE. I HOPE YOU HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING THAN YOU DID WHEN YOU CALLED. THE FACT IS THAT OUR PRICES ARE BASED ON OUR COSTS. OUT OF EVERY DOLLAR WE CHARGE, WE MUST PAY FOR: OUR TECHNICIAN’S SALARY, WORKER’S COMPENSATION, SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICAL BENEFITS, UNIFORMS, ONGOING TRAINING, THE TIME IT TAKES TO DRIVE TO YOUR HOUSE, TOOLS, TRUCKS, FINANCE CHARGES ON THE INVENTORY WE CARRY, GAS, INSURANCE FOR OUR TRUCKS, BUSINESS INSURANCE, STATE LICENSING, TELEPHONE LINE CHARGES, OUR TELEPHONE SYSTEM, SOMEONE TO ANSWER THE PHONES AND DISPATCH THE TECHNICIAN (KEEPING TRACK OF THE PROGRESS OF EVERY JOB TO KEEP YOU INFORMED WHEN YOU CAN EXPECT THE TECHNICIAN, OVERHEAD AND BENEFITS FOR OFFICE PERSONNEL, OUR COMPUTERS, OUR SOFTWARE, SOMEONE TO ENTER INFORMATION INTO THE COMPUTERS, ACCOUNTING, BILLING, TAX SERVICES, LEGAL SERVICES, AN AFTER-HOURS ANSWERING SERVICE, YELLOW PAGES ADVERTISING, OTHER ADVERTISING, MEMBERSHIP IN PROFESSIONAL AND TRADE ORGANIZATIONS, RESERVES TO ENSURE WE CAN HONOR ALL OF OUR WARRANTIES AND GUARANTEES, PEOPLE TO FILL OUT DOZENS OF FORMS AND REPORTS FOR VARIOUS GOVERNMENT REGULATORS, TAXES.
