It went well, and it took just over 2 hours to complete the repair. Both freezer and refrigerator have been running fine and incident-free since the repair Alex accepted the $20 Angie's List discount. Additionally, according to the invoice, the replacement part was warranted for 12 months, and labor is good for 3 months. The fact that Alex admitted that the coil was still good and didn't suggest replacing it reflects his trustworthiness, since a less scrupulous repairman would take advantage of the customer.
Description of Work: I had found the food thawing in the freezer. Selected Around the Clock after evaluating the Angie's List related surveys. Alex removed the rear panel inside the freezer, which revealed a significant buildup of frost. He used a heating device to melt the ice and ran a test to determine whether the evaporator coil was operating. Fortunately it was; the only part requiring replacement was the defrost timer.

The entire experience from making the appointment to the completion of the repair could not have gone better. As an aside, another part of this company, Around the Clock, replaced my HVAC last August. I was very pleased with them then and I am very pleased with them now.
Description of Work: Refrigerator was not holding an appropriate temperature. I called and a visit was scheduled for the next morning between 9-11. Alex arrived at 10:30. He diagnosed the problem as either a bad computer board or an inoperative evaporator (fan) motor. He tried the board and it was OK. He took apart the freezer compartment to access the fan motor which turned out to be bad. He replaced the fan motor and was done within an hour.

:I called around 8am, explained the problem, and was told someone would come by 10am. The repairman showed up at around 9:15, and had the refrigerator working again by 9:45. I used a $20 coupon I found on the Angie's List website. I'm very happy the refrigerator is fixed and was done very quickly.
Description of Work: The repairman diagnosed the problem with my refrigerator as being either the relay switch or compressor. He informed me of my options as he checked the relay overload first. Thankfully, the compressor kicked on after he replaced the relay. He then vacuumed the dust out of the reachable places in the bottom, and reset the proper temperature.

I called the company and they came out right away. The technician came and diagnosed the problem. The technician did suggest that I should "go shipping this weekend for a new washer". I did not think was proper, as they company really shouldn't be recommending how customers spend their own money. So, I called the manufacturer of the unit and ordered the parts, as that would save me some money. I called the company back, and informed the company that I had ordered the parts and could I schedule a time for the company to come and install them. They had a problem with this, since according to their "company policy" only they could provide parts for the customer. I read the bottom of the estimate and that policy is not stated anywhere on that receipt. I tuned it over on the back and It is not written there either. I don't work for their company, so their company policies should not apply to me. Since this was causing the company great issues, I thanked them for their time and, I decided to get the combo fixed from the place where I had originally purchased the machine.

I had already figured out that the bearing had gone bad on my front-loader washer, but because it would sometimes still work properly and before I committed to buying new machine, I called them to confirm my diagnosis. They arrived on time and confirmed in fact that the bearing was shot and basically my machine would need to be replaced (the repair would be in the $600-700 range). I would use them again if the need arises.

It was Super Bowl Sunday. We noticed a bit of water on the floor in front of our refrigerator. Reached in -- and it wasn't cold. The appliance service we have used in the past was not answering our calls. Found "Around The Clock" on Angie's List -- Called them at 12:30 pm on Super Bowl Sunday.... they promptly answered the phone. They arrived as scheduled just before 3pm. Diagnosed and replaced the condenser relay and gone within 30 minutes. AWESOME service --

Around the Clock provided great customer service and quality of work from the first phone call. I explained the problem and they had a service technician come out. Who worked hard to find the exact issue - which he did. He ordered the part and called me to confirm an estimate to fix my fridge. When my fridge was being fixed, another technician came to my home to check my microwave - the turntable stopped working early on. The warranty was not longer good. While this was somewhat of a luxury and many people said I should just replace the microwave - the appliances in my kitchen matched and for me, I really just wanted it to work. He gave me an estimate and a couple of days later, had the part. A day later it was installed. And it wasn't an easy installation - due to how my kitchen cabinets are installed, it took a lot of manuevering, and a couple of cuts, to get the new part installed. Everything is working properly and Around the Clock was not only very professional but the quality of their work was great. I highly recommend them.

Called this company late saturday, their technician arrived on time as arranged and initially vacuumed coils of fridge, it. Had stopped making ice and food in freezer was beginning to thaw out, he said to wait a couple of days, but when it was still not making ice the next day, we called his cell, he showed up on time and added freon to appliance, it started working within a couple of hours. Very professional and courteous. This company does not charge extra for Sunday calls, hence their name.

It was easy to make and get a timely appt. They came out the next day. They had to order a part which took two days. They called when the part came in and came back the next day. I'm very happy with their service and reasonable prices and will use them again when/if needed. I also like that altho they're in No. Hlwd., they came to West L.A. with no hesitation.

When I called the company, they were very friendly, and scheduled me for the first available appointment. They gave me a two hour window on that date. The repairman arrived during that window. He examined my refrigerator and told me what the problem was. He explained which parts would need to be replaced, which he had with him. He also gave me the estimated price. I agreed. He was finished within an hour and left the kitchen perfectly clean. My refrigerator now works just fine. I would definitely use Around the Clock again.

nOleg, the technician, came on 10/10/12 to check out the problem with my dishwasher. After taking the door apart he showed me that the door latch assembly had broken into pieces. He called his office to find out if the part was available or if he would have to order one. Thankful, it was available and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. Oleg replaced the part within 15 minutes and cleaned up. The whole ordeal was pleasant and I would definitely use them again. Around the Clock Service also does A/C and Heating.

Went very well. The microwave had been just plain dead since shortly after we'd had the dealer's service people replace the microwave generator unit. Around the Clock's Sasha arrived on time. After a few minutes (he had to remove the trim panel on the wall-mounted microwave) he announced that the problem was only that the computer board needed to be reset. He explained that power surges sometimes cause that. Then he gave useful tutorial on the care and feeding of a microwave and what to look out for in any future "event." He honored the Angie's List coupon. I'd use him again.

He did a good job but I needed the pilots to be on so that buyers for the new house knew they worked. I asked them if they could come out to turn the pilots on for a service charge and they wanted to charge me $250, which I thought was very unreasonable. I said that at no time would I call them for their service. I did not have a problem with the actual work but I was very upset about how unreasonable they were when I wanted a small favor.

The ice maker in our Whirlpool refrigerator stopped dispensing ice a while ago, and the ice in the container was melting into a block. The repair person diagnosed the problem as a bad door hinge cam. He also said that the coils required maintenance. He gave me an estimate of $320, with the cost approximately split between the two things he was proposing to do. Once I okayed the estimate, he went to work on the first $160 worth of work, which turned out to be pulling out a duster and wiping the coils to remove built up lint, followed by spraying the outside of the coils for a second with an aerosol can. He then replaced the cam which he correctly diagnosed as keeping the door ajar and causing problems for the ice maker. He then told me he was finished, and I paid him $320. Since I had not seen him actually try to use the ice dispenser, I asked him if he was sure it was fixed. He said yes, but then tried it, and it was in fact working no better than before he arrived. He finally said it must be the motor, and since I had already paid $320 said he would order a new motor the next day and would install it for just the cost of the part. After a week passed with no word from the company, my wife called and the workman agreed to come out at the beginning of the following week, and again assured us he would only charge us his cost for the motor. He did come the following week and installed a new motor, which fixed the problem. He charged us $150 for "his cost" for the motor. A quick Google search of Whirlpool ice maker replacement motors shows that the retail cost is around $70. He also installed a new igniter in our oven. The cost was itemized at $140 in parts and $140 in labor, for a total of $280 plus tax. It took him approximately 20 minutes to do the repair. Another Google search for oven igniters shows that they retail for for anywhere between $12 and $40. So, the actual itemization would have been more like $40 for parts (probably not that much, even at retail, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt) and $240 dollars for 20 minutes of labor. That pencils out to $720 per hour if my math is correct. The repairman drove a Mercedes truck the size of a battle ship, and after paying their rates, I know why. On the plus side, each time he came out, he informed me that for some unknown reason I was the lucky recipient of a $20 discount. He also had a non-stop rap the whole time he was here about how honest he is, as opposed to everyone else. So to recap, it took 10 days to get the ice dispenser repaired, and required a follow-up call from us. But both appliances were repaired. So, they're not totally incompetent. They just focus a small part of their efforts on simple appliance repairs and a huge focus on ripping you off. Needless to say, I would never under any circumstances call these guys again. It's really a drag, because we found them on Angie's List, which has been a great resource for us, and is usually very helpful. In this case, it was really a disaster. Either people are not examining the way these guys rip you off, or they're not following up with a report. In my opinion, we all need to be more vigilant to eliminate this kind of abusive, unethical business practice.

I called on a Sunday because their hours listed Sunday as a work-day, I waited for a call-back which I got on Monday. I would recommend the company explain the Sunday hours are to receive messages only and call-backs would be made on Monday. The service was great. I have already told my co-workers about my experience with Around the Clock Service. Leon was also very nice to my dog "Milk", who found him more interesting than his stuffed toys. .
Description of Work: My dryer would turn on but would not dry the clothes. Leon was a very nice gentleman, who was able to immediately diagnosed the problem with my dryer. It apparently needed an electronic ignition for the pilot. Leon had the part in his truck and was able to fix my dryer in less than 15 minutes. He insured that my dryer would heat up enough to dry the clothes .

I called the store to request service for my stove at 8:30 Saturday morning. By 9:30 am Sasha, the service man, appeared at my door. He went right to work and, as described above, was helpful, although a repair was not actually necessary. I paid the $45 house call service fee and he left. It was an uneventful visit, but useful in a couple of ways. Everyone I encountered was pleasant and helpful, courteous and punctual. I would use them again.
Description of Work: The repair I thought I needed turned out to be unnecessary, so the service provider, Sasha, educated me on how to know when I really do need service on my 30 year old Gafer & Statler stove top and oven....He also took a few minutes to diagnose a front grill falling off the microwave and suggested that a repair would require a new part which was way too expensive. He took some masking tape and taped the part back on securely, assuring me that the oven was still safe to use.

Great, especially with the courtesy of the office staff that scheduled the repair after playing mutual phone tag.
Description of Work: I highly recommend the way Oleg, the repairman, and the office manager responded to my emergency, post-Superbowl repair of my refrigerator/freezer. The freezer stopped working and I feared a compressor replacement (about $850), but Oleg's diagnostic showed that the equivalent of the freezer's "ignition switch" needed to be replaced and that the compressor was fine. Despite my work schedule, they scheduled a time that worked with me and arrived and performed the repair without damage or major food loss. I saved time, money and found a new appliance repair firm. Thanks!
