Painting was great ... plumbers that worked here robbed me of all my jewelry ... from my closet and dresser drawer. Owner could have cared less ... Beware to anyone hiring her and her contractors ...

My initial estimate went well. Lorenzo arrived on time and was efficient in getting me the estimate for the work I wanted completed. I received two other estimates for the job and 3B's estimate was in the middle of the other two. What I liked best was that their estimate was broken out by line item and cost for each part of the project I wanted done in my living/ dining room; in addition, they guaranteed a project manager onsite every day to check in on their staff. The cost of the project included all material and labor. Once I decided to use 3Bz I submitted the signed estimate and scheduled the project for the week of 1/6/14. Darrin, the office manager, confirmed that Lorenzo and his crew would arrive on Monday 1/6/14 at 7:30 AM.  On Monday 1/6/14 - no one arrived. By 9:30 AM I called Lorenzo and 3 Bz office directly and asked why no-one showed up given I had received confirmation of the project start date. Lorenzo quickly called me back and explained there had been an issue with their scheduling. He did arrive later that morning with a crew to begin the work. I was pretty annoyed because I had re-arranged by business calendar to ensure I would be available for them upon arrival with any questions. Once Lorenzo and his crew arrived he was completely apologetic for the mix up and guaranteed that he had a committed crew to get the job completed within the 5 days he had originally estimated. After letting him know how upset and unprofessional I thought the scheduling mix up was - he offered to install my chandelier and remove an extra recessed light at no charge. The final result of the project went well, I was very happy with the end result. Lorenzo and his crew were very nice, respectful, and hard working. They cleaned up their work area every afternoon before they left for the day. I did have to have them come back to fix some painting that was missed and re-caulk a small part of the crown molding. It was very minor and they came back a few days after they wrapped and fixed what I needed down within a few hours. Overall I would probably hire them again. They did do a very nice job and the room looks great.

Could not have gone any smoother.   From the first time Anita set foot in our house to give us an estimate through to the final touches everything was done on time, on budget, and with great care and attention to detail.  On top of that - Anita is fun to work with.  I looked forward to meeting with her everyday and seeing how her team transformed our home.   She was great with suggestions when we needed them and very supportive of our ideas when we already knew what we wanted.    Every member of her team from Haim our project supervisor through all of the painters were polite, thoughtful, and hardworking.
Before starting this process I met with a handful of well reviewed painters for estimates.  Next time I need any painting done I know there's only one phone call that I'll make.

I called and spoke with a very nice lady.  She was professional and took down all my information.  We had scheduled a Saturday appointment to get a quote to paint the entire interior of our new house.  As the new buyers of the house we were only allowed in during the inspection, so we had very limited time with the property.  These guys never showed up.  I called a few times and didn't get a response back until Monday.  When I got a call back I was told there was some kind of technology issues and my appointment was not on the books.
I get that mistakes occur and I do appreciate a call explaining what happened, but I certainly won't use them again.
Response from 3-B'Z Painting Co

"Human error. I'm apologizing for the inconvenience. I had the whole intention to be there AND on time. I am a homeowner myself and I know how it feels to have time wasted and especially waiting for professionals. If a contractor was not hired yet, I will be more than happy to come and compensate. Life is good, just add color. Anita"

Initially they seem enthusiastic and professional but that impression quickly faded. The one week estimate stretched to over two weeks. The worst was that hairline cracks were made to look terrible with built up stripes of spackle slapped onto textured stucco! It took several requests and tries to make them look less bad but the overall effect was badly done. They missed spots on the walls and trim but generally corrected the spots I caught while they were still here. They left paint  and stucco materials spattered on my patio, plants and trees. The whole  project seemed unsupervised and there was no quality control.  I never could get them to remove a ladder and some other materials which I disposed of after three requests over the course of a couple of weeks. On the good side, they accomodated a change request to paint shutters and charged a reasonable additional amount for the added work. Overall, I regretted hiring them but this is the kind of project where you learn about the quality of someones work after they  finish the job.

I couldn't be happier with the work they did for me.  Lorenzo promptly responded to my call, came out to review the job and was able to give me an immediate breakdown estimate and schedule the job within 2 days.  He was able to match our chosen paint colors perfectly.  The crew was prompt and thoroughly prepped the rooms.  Floors and furniture were covered, outlet covers removed, walls washed and edges taped.  They had to work especially hard to prep a built-in bookcase that had previously been painted badly and was peeling.  The whole crew really worked hard and they were able to finish the job in one day. The end result was beautiful. I got exactly what I asked for at a very reasonable price.  My husband's only complaint (and he's very particular) was that they washed their equipment in the yard and damaged the front lawn. Unfortunately, it still hasn't fully recovered.

All in all, 3-B’Z did some pretty awesome work for us. Their customer was amazing, and they were incredibly helpful and responsive to any issues. They are detailed oriented with their work, so I couldn’t be happier with the quality or results. They took care of all the engineering, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and painting. Anita, who was the real brains of our operation, is a Martha Stewart type. She offered great suggestions regarding decoration and general layout; I think she’s very knowledgeable and capable. I really can’t say enough good things about this contractor. I highly recommend them!

Great work.  We used 3-B'z since they were professional and did good quality work.  They previously did a great job on our front room and hallway ceiling and walls.  The flooring turned out just as great.  The front room and hallway looks really nice now.

Received a prompt quote, which was competative.  Work was started and competed on time and within budget.  Anita was very personable and her staff was very professional.  Workers were hard working and took pride in their work.  Overall, they did a great job considering the amount of prep work that had to be done on this old home.  Anita has a good attitude and was very polite.  We also plan to used her to install a new floor.

Overall: Although we are satisfied with the end result, we would not use this painting company again nor recommend it. I will try to be as fair and honest in telling the story and assessing the work they did for us.
Estimate: We got a very good vibe from Anita, the owner, when she gave us the estimate. She was detailed, thorough, and enthusiastic, and she had good ideas and feedback on our color and decor choices. The price was also very reasonable ($2650), and thus we moved forward. Anita estimated the work would take 4-5 days. During the estimate, we communicated that our house (before we owned it) had previously been painted in a rush job with bad quality paint, no prep/sanding, and that the current state of the walls/paint was dismal and would require a lot of work.
Work: Anita's crew started, and things seemed to be rolling along fine. The first room or two looked well painted.
Issue #1: Our first stumbling block was a miscommunication about whether the baseboards and trim would be painted or not. After a few days of work, we noticed that in some rooms they were painted and in others they weren't. While the contract detailed what would be painted, we thought we had communicated that we wanted the trim and baseboards done in all rooms, and it was hard to notice on the contract that it was missing. I would recommend to Anita to clearly state in the future what is excluded to avoid this kind of confusion. Fair enough, it was our fault for not scrutinizing the contract so we agreed to pay an extra $400. Work continues: The work continued, although it seemed like 4-5 days would not be enough for all the work. As we expected, there was a lot of prep work required and Anita underestimated that in her time and dollar estimate.
Issue #2: After our last scheduled day, we came home to a very sloppy job in our kitchen. There was paint on our fridge, cabinets, dishwasher, windows, countertops...and it was an overall poor job. Our furniture/stuff was also all over the place and there was no effort to return it to where it was supposed to go. Anita supposedly inspected her painters work every day, so we asked her if she had looked at and approved the work in the kitchen. She said yes, of course that she always does. And then we started walking her through all the issues, and she seemed to realize it was unacceptable. She did have her crew fix all the issues, remove the paint from our appliances etc.
Issue #3: The next problem was that the painters damaged a piece of our newly finished wood floors, dented a cabinet, and spilled paint on our blinds. Again, Anita rectified all of these problems by reimbursing us for the damage.
Summary: Ultimately the work took longer than expected (which we were flexible about), and we had a lot of stress surrounding the poor job done initially in the kitchen, the damage to some of our property, and we had to be way too involved in the process than we should have been. Like I said, we are now satisfied with the way our house looks and Anita was committed to fixing the problems. But if I had to do it over again, I would have preferred an experience with a company where I didn't need to micro-manage and re-inspect their work, and where I didn't have the stress of my furnishings being damaged.
Response from 3-B'Z Painting Co

"As a business owner for over 18 years, I am very aware that some customers cannot avoid the frustrations caused by any type of construction (including painting) especially in occupied homes, small areas, and with pets. I always do my best to create a comfortable working environment. As far as the job pricing, the customer received a great deal for multi-colors and plenty of prep work. I'm happy that the customer was satisfied with the final results, and we will both remember that. Life is good, just add color."
