Most of the work he completed was perfect, and we were thrilled. However, we encountered two problems The first one was that one of the drawers remained difficult to open, and though originally Jim said he would fix it , the problem has not been fixed. (Still, we remain hopeful, even though two months have already passed since the work was completed). The second problem we ran into is that AFTER Jim quoted us for the work we thought we'd like him to do, we decided to be frugal and to scale the project down. We called him to say that we were only going to do part of the original project, and he said fine, no problem. He came by our home to take final measurements, and returned a couple weeks later to install the new drawers and pull-outs. However, when he handed us the invoice that day, he added a $325.00 labor fee, out of the blue, to compensate for the fact that he was completing a smaller project than originally quoted. So, to summarize: the initial project would have cost us $1583; the scaled down project cost us $1330, instead of the $1005 we thought it was going to cost. We don't blame Jim for adding a fee to make up for the fact that we gave him a smaller job to do...but we feel strongly that he should have told us in advance that he was going to add a fee of $325.00. Had we known that the price for the smaller project was going to escalate from $1005 to $1330, we simply would have gone with the original project, and paid $250.00 more than what we ended up paying to get the additional 7 pull-out shelves that we deleted from our order. We wrote to Jim twice, hoping he would return to fix the drawer and that he would either negotiate the fee he charged without advance notice, or that he would consider completing the project as originally designed and quoted, with the understanding that we would pay the difference between what we had already paid for the scaled down job and what he originally quoted for the larger job. Sadly, he has not indicated a willingness to work things out with us.

Our experience with Shelf Mate was fantastic! It all started with an email to arrange an in home estimate. I was greeted warmly and promptly by Jim. We worked out a date and time quickly. Jim called before his arrival, and showed up on time. I opened the door to a warm smile and a hearty hello. He was prepared with samples and catalogs for my fiancé and I to go over. Jim was friendly and very informative. We planned out our upgrades to our kitchen storage. We ended up adding 11 pullout shelves, and upgrading 8 others to better quality slides. Jim gave us a date for how long getting the materials was going to take to order and building the custom shelves. Jim called and we scheduled an install date once everything was ready. Jim arrived today, again on time and again we were greeted warmly with a big smile. He brought in all the supplies and got right to work. Jim was friendly the entire time and offered great advice on spacing out the shelves to best serve our purposes as he went along. He worked efficiently and the quality is superb. I give this experience an A+ We love our new pullout shelves! Thank you Shelf Mate, thank you Jim!

After a brief phone call, Jim came out to measure and showed me samples of the materials. After constructing the pull-outs, he came and installed them. Things went flawlessly from start to finish.

I thought they were great and the gentleman who came out kept in touch, was very professional and got everything back to me quickly. He realized that one of the drawers was measured incorrectly, but he returned within two or three days with the correct one. Overall, I was very satisfied with the service.

Couldn't have gone any better. Wish I had done it years ago! He was prompt, always returned calls and was ready when he said he would be. Took careful measurements and talked with me about all the options. The quality of the glides and the drawers are the best. He cleaned up and was careful. It went great!
