They were very good, they did a really good job. The price was reasonable.

Julio took over our yard where a previous landscape maintenance service had done very little. He has worked hard to bring our large yard back. He knows what makes a yard look exceptional, doing all the cutting and trimming to achieve that look. He's weeded, trimmed edges, and worked very h****** it. He's doing weekly maintenance but always informs us extra situations needing attention with accurate cost analysis. Julio seems to take pride in his work and seems to care about doing well by his clients.

He arrived promptly and did the free estimate. I gave him a copy of a City Of Roseville blank list for parts to be used. I impressed upon him the urgency of getting this estimate to the city ASAP so I could obtain a rebate. During the estimate he told me he had just separated from his wife, that she wouldn't allow him to see his four children on his recent birthday and that he was upset. He told me he would complete the list for the city and get back to me in and quot;two to threeand quot; weeks to complete the work. I waited and waited and never heard from him. I called and his wife answered stating that he was gone and she hadn't seen him in quite some time. Since he had all the records she said there was nothing she could do (i e, call me to let me know he was unavailable, etc). He never did contact me which left me scrambling to find someone new at the busiest time of the year. One estimate was way too high and another landscape service is scheduled to do an estimate on Monday 6-3-2013. I understand that individuals can have personal problems. What I don't understand is Mr. Solis not letting me know he was unable to do the work so I could find someone else in a timely manner. This is totally unacceptable and unprofessional.

I hired him to do more work. I set up a late afternoon appointment on my day off. He called an hour prior to the appointment to cancel as he forgot about the time change. It would be dark when he arrived to the the work. I left a message on his business phone to set up another date for two weeks ahead of time. It took a few days to receive a return call or an email response. The appointment was set up for a day that I was off from work. He called the day before to cancel again.From his conversation, he had a larger job to do. I felt this was unprofessional in that he had a total disregard for my time and inconvenience in canceling twice just prior to the appointment and not being responsive in calling or email attempts that I made. I will never use his services again.

Scheduling the appointment and sending the design plans was done quickly especially since they had a number of Deals to satisfy. I was impressed with the ease at which the designer was able to come up with a plan as we discussed what I wanted. The actual drawing was priovided by email about a week later. It looked nice but since no measurements were taken it was not to scale. The bid that came with the design was not to build the design but only to do the clean up. As I asked questions the price inched upward. By the time I was done asking the original price trippled. I had the work done by another company but I guess the deal I bought gave me the courage to start that process.

They are thorough and pro-active about communication, asking me exactly what I want. They are more businesslike than other small companies. They do a good job. I'm not sure if I am going to use them again.

That was horrible. She barely could finish her conversation with me cause she had her child in the background crying and she hung up the phone and didn't even ask for an address and set up a time for that address. She was nice but then she couldn't even finish the conversation.

The service providers were very nice. On time for the appointment. I was asked right away what I wanted done like other companies for a free estimate. I started to tell him about raising the height of a concrete slab I had because of standing water when it rains, and he said that I needed to put in a sump pump to solve that problem. Then I told him of the other things I wanted to accomplish and he made notes, but no recommendations. He said that he had quite a few customers to take care of and that it would take a week or more. I called for the plans after three weeks. They said they emailed them, but I didn't receive them. So they sent them again. After a half hour I received the email. For $99 I was expecting an AutoCad type of document with measurement, etc., but in reality all I got was a sketch and an estimate that cost me $99. I could have done without the sketch, I've made plenty of them myself and gotten a free estimate from numerous other landscape providers that would have also made a sketch to help with their recollection of the job.

We had to call them, though they sent an email saying they would be in touch, for evaluation We had expected, based on the offer, that the company would provide plans for both the front and back. Upon arrival we were told that it was only for either the front or back. We chose the front. We had to call to get them to send us the plan, which they did. This was several days after they said they would send it. The plan included only one price, and we have no idea whether it was for only a fence replacement or for the entire suggested job. Though the person who came was friendly, perhaps knowledgable, he was also more hurried than we expected and did not fully listen to our statements of what we wanted. The price, not being broken down, appeared to be only for the fence, and was quite high.

We moved into the house March 2012 and discovered with some heavy Spring rains that we had a drainage problem in the backyard. There were a few existing small catch basins with an underground solid drainage line that carried water to a sump hole. Since there was no sump pump and no piping to move the water out of the sump, all of the water would just back up in the drainage piping and the areas around the catch basins and many other areas just pooled up with water. Areas of the backyard pretty much looked like small ponds and water was getting into the garage and pooling up on the driveway as well. I left a voicemail message and sent an email to Green Retreats and I got a response within a day or so (don't remember if it was a call back or email). Eventually we emailed a bit to schedule an evening when Julio could come over. He came up with a plan that I liked very much. I think it took him a little while to prepare and email the estimate, but when I saw it and considered all that he planned on doing I was very pleased. I had gotten two prior estimates from other Angie's List landscapers and both were more expensive and added on additional costs for some things that Julio included in his overall price (i.e., grading the area around the sump where there was a mound of dirt and rocks). Julio also gave me the option to get a discount if we planned on getting the work done during the slower time of the year. I also just liked Julio's personality and we connected on some shared interests. I had some questions about the estimate and about some details of the project that we hadn't discussed during his visit, so he came back a second time to finalize everything. The work took the exact amount of time he planned, two days of digging and installation and part of a third day to come install the sump pump and demonstrate how everything works. I was very impressed with all that Julio got done and I could see why he was so confident. Considering how much digging they did, I thought the yard looked great when they were done. They replanted some of the grass where it had been removed, they were careful when digging around plants in the backyard, the fence that they needed to bypass looked as though it was untouched, they incorporated piping into a portion of landscaping that I had previously done so that it blended in perfectly. We just got a decent storm (the first I could observed since this work was done) and the yard didn't have any problems with water pooling up like it had. Julio made some additional suggestions for grading and re-sodding the yard, and if I choose to get more work done I will begin by contacting Julio at Green Retreats.

It was satisfactory and a good value for the money .

Julio Solis of Green Retreats Landscaping is one of the hardest workers I have ever met in my life. While we use Green Retreats Landscaping for our regular yard maintenance (also an and quot;Aand quot; rating!), the yard does need more intensive service from time to time. It had been about 2 years since we'd done a major clean up of our yards and several trees, bushes and other plants had started to become unmanageable. In addition, there was a section of fencing in our backyard that needed to be demolished and replaced. In one day Julio and one of his employees were able to completely transform the backyard through their skill and hard labor. The trees, bushes and plants have all been and quot;tamedand quot; and the overgrown neatly hauled away. Julio returned to replace the fencing, clean our gutters and do some additional tree trimming a couple days later. We are thrilled with the results and grateful, as always, for Julio's dedication and professionalism. We highly recommend Green Retreats Landscaping.

We couldn't connect to get the work done. They set appts a couple of times and canceled at the last minute for what seemed legitimate reasons. I canceled one appt because of scheduling trouble with kids sports. They were apologetic and nice. However, these kinds of experiences--where contractor is paid in advance and have expiration on services--make the Groupon/BuyNow phenom less than appealing.

Very good experience. The result is outstanding. Green Retreats and its owner Julio are good to work with and very responsive. I plan to use Green Retreats for other projects in the future.

Could not come to initially scheduled appointment. Did call to reschedule, but it was at the end of the window of time I had made sure to be home waiting for them. When they returned at the rescheduled date, they performed the work, but did not speak to me, just left a handwritten note saying I owed them more than was originally agreed.

Julio provided estimate, discussed options and ideas, purchased supplies, dug out (demolition) yard, set out plants for review of design, and planted when approved. He returned to ensure everything was doing okay, readjusted sprinkler system. He has since assisted the HOA with their sprinkler problems, and I hired him to do my yard work. I will be using him again next year to redesign and install my back yard.

I needed to install a new patio and landscape to my rental property in Sacramento. I talked to a couple of different Landscapers for an estimate. Julio was able to work within my budget and was all around best choice for the job. He did an excellent job on the cement work and landscaping. He did such a great job Ive asked him to do the maintaince on the place. Thats how highly I think of his work!!

I switched to Green Retreats to do the yard maintenance on a rental property several years ago. They have been great - consistent, thorough, and do some extras like weeding and repairng sprinklers. At that time I also had Julio do some landscaping, planting, and build a low brick wall. He gave me good ideas about what to plant, and everything is growing in nicely. We were trying to fix a drainage problem ourselves, but when I talked to Julio about it he was so knowledgeable about what was needed that we stopped digging a trench and hauling rocks and let him finish the job. He put in a french drain and a sump pump, laid down landscape barrier and covered the whole thing with rocks so that it looks nice. We didn't know anything about sump pumps, but I think this was the right decision. This year we also had him reroute the sprinkler system in our backyard at home to include some newly planted areas. He did everything in a day, and the plants are very happy, much happier than when I was trying to remember to water them by hand! We will have have him come back soon to build a low wall around a tree, a patio, some other paths, and do plant and set up the sprinkler system.

They did another landscaping job for me just a few weeks earlier that I liked, so I called them back for more work. I purchased a commercial quality misting system with electric pump similar to what you see at restaurants with outdoor seating in the summer. I called Green Retreats Landscaping back to install the system as well as make some small changes to the existing patio landscaping. After the work started, I asked Julio to fix some problems that turned up during the job and to make a few changes when the original plan wasn't going to work the way I expected and it was all handled. The end result looks good and works well, so I would still use them again.

Arrived on time, went through sprinklers. Did not have all parts needed (sprinkler head), promised to get needed part and come back to replace. Did not come back, did not return follow-up call. Also was supposed to provide estimate for possible additional work. Never provided, never returned call.

First of all, I would like to give a kudos to Julio for finding ways to work within my budget and deliver quality results! Julio and his team came in and did everything from start to finish. I was very happy with their work since everything was done very professionally. Both my planters looked great, clean and very organized. Julio showed me how to install additional drip heads when I decide to plant more shrubs. My fresh new sod looks healthy and great! He also provided me with lots of hints on how to care for my new sod. They were also very flexible dealing with problems and new requests. When they found out about the remaining roots from the redwoods, they promptly cleaned it up free of charge so they can lay down the weed fabric and the new mulch. And when I asked them to do additional work, they were quick to respond and finished the two work all within schedule. Overall, great service. I would definitely hire them again when i decide to refresh my backyard. The only area of improvement worth mentioning is their email system. There were a couple of instances were emails were dropped and lost.

Everything seems fine and looks very good. Cleaned up well before leaving.

I have already recommended them to my neighbors. Amber and Julio are very responsive and they allow you to pay using a PayPal account. I was very pleased because they were efficient and cleaned up everything within one day. Julio was very good about following up and offered to make any adjustments where needed. The only downside was that it took about 3 weeks to finalize the bid because there was a little bit of trouble getting a hold of them initially.

I like him and he does an excellent job, but I think he is a little on the high side. I am just telling you my feelings Recently, he took a vacation, and he told us he was going to be gone. During that time he had a death in his family in Mexico. That delayed his return about 4 weeks. Our grass started to look really, really bad. I emailed him, asking when he was going to come back, and I never heard from him. Myself and another customer didn't get any response, and his wife does all the correspondence. When he got back, he did a very good job, especially with the clean up. He didn't charge me anything extra. He is very responsible, personable, and knowledgeable. I'll continue to use him.
