BAY ALARM

I recently had the windows in my house replaced, and as such, needed to upgrade my security system because the wires were cut from my previous system during the windows installation. I had existing service through ADT, but decided to get estimates from a few extra security specialists to make an informed decision about whether I should continue service with ADT or if I should switch. I settled on Bay Alarm as a local provider. I found the security representative to be extremely rude and condescending. I had originally set-up an appointment for 6:30 PM because that was the best time for both me and my husband to meet with him. Within five minutes of setting up the appointment with customer service, Mark, the estimator, called me to ask for an earlier appointment. I settled on an earlier time, but found it very rude for him to ask for a different time, probably so he could end his day early on Friday. When I met with him on Friday, he refused to listen to anything I had to say. I told him REPEATEDLY that I had zero interest in a motion sensor because I have an 80-pound pitbull mix and had concerns that the dog would set off any sort of motion sensor. His response to me was "is the dog ever in the house when you're not home?" Of course - that's why I have concerns about the motion sensor. He kept trying to push me into using motion sensors and never once bothered to explain how his company's sensor would be pet friendly and would not cause problems. At the end of the visit, he then said that most people want motion sensors to save money. That's fine, but I never told him that I was cheap or poor, but rather, that I wanted a particular system to best suit my needs. One that does not include motion sensors. He also spent the majority of the time insulating ADT, claiming that they send over technicians that have never gone through any sort of background check. I personally find it completely unprofessional when someone bashes their competitors while trying to make a sale. If your products cannot speak for themselves, which I assume is the case if you can only make a sale by criticizing everyone else, then why should I use your company? I also had to explain to him on more than one occasion why the sensors in the house no longer worked - it seemed like I had to go over things again with him in every room. Rather than listening to me, he said that the reason my system is currently not operational is because ADT is not compatible with my phone system. When I explained that both ATT and ADT tested the system and found no problems, he then insulted my intelligence and told me that I need to eduate myself about how alarm systems work. He then wrote down a website on the quotation he gave me, told me that they're gospel, and that I need to study the system. I will not do business with a company that hires representatives that are so rude, condescending, and unprofessional.

Never happened

The experience, from initial in-home review to turnover, was fantastic. I obtained three quotes (ADT, Bay and Centurion) before choosing Bay. They were all comparable but Bay's total cost of ownership (i.e., three year commitment) and customer service reputation were the deciding factors for me. Once the alarm went off and they sent the sheriff, but luckily nothing big had happened and I wasn't at home anyways. I am happy with the service they provide and I think they are reliable and I have never had a problem with them so far. I pay a bimonthly fee for the service.

I thought that the installer was very nice and did a good job but we have had a little trouble with them on answering questions when we call into customer service line. Our bill is set up on auto bill pay and that really is nice. I really think that the monthly service is a little high.

The system is easy to use and helps us feel protected. If I have a problem they are here and ready to help. They are very easy to deal with. I think that the price we pay per year is a fair price.

The marketing manager was excellent. She provided us complete details and cost information. The installer was equally excellent. He was here over 6 hours, very neat, careful, professional and installed the systems components without any damage. Explained the system actions and tested everything before he left. We've had no problems and they have followed up with status checks and a satisfaction survey. I'd strongly recommend them!

THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB INSTALLING THE SYSTEM. THEY MADE SURE TO ANSWER ALL OF MY QUESTIONS. THEY ALSO DID A VERY NICE JOB EXPLAINING HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS AND WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
