I own a condo in Century City that I rent out. It had been renting out significantly below market, partly because it was dated with late 80's style decor and needed some freshening up. I decided to renovate the unit to bring it up to market...and hopefully above market given the relatively upscale location right next to Century City. I did the math and had a fairly restrictive budget as I wanted the renovation paid off in about 5-6 years. Omri (Lion Builders) was recommended to me by a friend of mine who is an architect. I got multiple bids and immediately noticed that Omri was competitive on price but was also way more detailed in his scope than other contractors who were providing bids. He broke it down and gave me two very detailed options to keep costs under control. He also has a good working relationship with JAC Interior Design who I was also working with and that speaks volumes. It was also important that I got a very good contractor who I trusted because this is a condo and I didn't want to run into problems with the building or with neighbors. Throughout the project he was super communicative which was important as I don't live close and needed to be sure that I had "eyes on the ground". As any first time renovator probably does, I had a lot of little revisions and additions to the original scope...I was also trying to control costs by ordering stuff online which led to delays in the project. I also did a lot of "out of the box" stuff that I know always throws contractors for a loop (such as having more than 1/2 inch of underlayment under my floors to keep my HOA happy, cutting a full height cabinet in half and buidling custom doors to make it countertop height, building an undercounter microwave shelf out of the old cabinet box, etc.) Omri rolled with all the punches and ensured that things were done. Any hiccups that we did encounter he made sure to fix and took full responsibility to make sure things were done right and correctly. Had a great experience working with Omri and will be sure to work with him again.
