CALbath Renovations

I purchased the Big Deal for CalBath and Kitchen.

I gave them a B for punctuality, although they were early. They said they would be there at 9, but showed up at 8:30 and gave me attitude because I wasn't there and said I misunderstood, they had said 'between 8 and 9'. The coupon I bought said bathtub refinished for $198, but then it was another $200 to strip and another $100 just to take the tape off and caulk and put fixtures back on. Other than that the work was very good.

An excellent job was done. I highly recommend this Company.

It went fine. First you had to have them come for an assessment... He was about an hour late without a phone call. He went over the "deal" which was about $175... But if you wanted them to come back and reinstall the fixtures... It was another $125. I'd have felt better about the "deal" if they priced it at $300 to be inclusive of the reinstall...I mean really...who wouldn't want their fixtures put back on? The worker arrived very punctually- was meticulous in putting up,plastic and paper protection of surrounding areas and did a very good job. I,m happy with the results.

The coupon is for a bath tub, but I have a bath & shower combo. The vendor came, explained and gave me an estimate for the work.

The technician looked over the bathroom and had judged the project to be worth more than what was agreed upon. The estimator and the technician had talked about it. They had decided that the end result of the job we were expecting might be more than what the finish product will look like. Therefore, the estimator and us decided to cancel the job.

Cal Bath rep Darrell Benn was GREAT. Looked at our tub and informed us that it was in good shape and did not need refinishing. Really appreciated his professionalism and customer service.

CalBath was great to work with on this project. I had spoke to CalBath at the fair and then saw them on Angie's Big Deal so I grabbed the deal and called them. They scheduled an appointment right away, came out and met with me and explained what the job entailed as there had been a prior coating on the bathtub. They showed up on time, worked efficiently and did a beautiful job and cleaned up after themselves. My bathtub looks like a new tub!

They was on time to come for an estimate. However, it costs more than the deal to redo my bathtub. I'd better off replacing it with a new tub.

The estimator arrived on-time and went through all the details. My bathtub is one piece fiberglass which is 27 years old. He assured me that they can fix the small hair line crack on the bottom and make it look better than new. The guy who was doing the job arrived on-time. We have to leave the house because the smell would be strong. He called when he was done. We timed to stay out for another 4 hours. The smell downstairs was not too bad by then. We opened all the windows and doors. The smell was completely gone in one hour. The tub took another 2 days to be completely dry. It does look better than new. We did not pay extra for them to come back to take down all the masking tapes and plastics. My husband did it easily. We are very happy with the job.

Cal Bath contacted us as promised with friendly service. However since the Big Deal did not include the shower tiles the price tripled to over $700. Golden State Refinishing of Riverside did the whole job promptly and professionally and with a custom color (black) for $375. Cal Bath was less "big deal" and more "bait and switch."

I do not have a complaint about Cal Bath. I was contacted by Veronica from their office on 10/24/13. I described tub appearance to her and she informed me that there would be an additional cost to strip the existing finish. We scheduled an appointment for their representative to come and look at the tub for the following morning, Friday, 10/25. Darrell Benn arrived promptly at the scheduled time, looked at the tub and explained stripping & refinishing process. There was to be total additional charges of $305.00 to strip the existing finish and a return visit to re-caulk around the tub, therefore I gave him a personal check for $105.00 as a down payment. Afterwards, I realized the bathroom and tub need expensive repairs and fixtures which need to be taken care of before refinishing the tub. I sent an e-mail to Veronica on 10/28/13 and she responded immediately to confirm the cancellation. She returned my personal check promptly by mail.

They were very polite and the deal was great, but they asked for me to be out of the house for 5 hours which I was not comfortable with. Also, to remove the shower door was $50 and then re-install it was $150, so to put back your old shower door after the re-glazing would cost about $200 extra! They need to disclose extra costs in the fine print.

When CalBath called to set up appointment, they said there had been some confusion with the Angie's List ad. There would be another $265 required to complete the work as shown in the picture. I would rather find another company.

Spoke to the rep. that said it would cost $100 more due to us having tile and may need caulking. We have a fiberglass tub. At this time can't afford this. I initially thought it was included as it kinda sounds that way in the details. anyway i requested a refund and will have to look elsewhere.

There is a stripping charge that I was not aware of. I did not want to pay the additional money and am asking for a refund.

They seem to be reputable and they did some work for one of my employee's family.

Awesome,awesome,awesome!!! The first day the worker was running late but there was an accident on the freeway. He called to let me know he was going to be a little late. He is such a hard worker and so careful to not make any messes in our home. I asked him to be careful about leaving the front door open because our cat can open the screen door and she is an inside cat. He was always mindful about that. He protected our floors and cleaned up completely both days he was here. The job her did is perfection! We are having them com back out and do the other bathroom.

We chose CalBath , because of our initial experience with Darrell. He was professional and honest about what we needed and didn't need. Work began as agreed...a little change in what days certain work would happen, but no big deal. Every worker was courteous and respectful coming in and out of the house. There was a problem with some over spray from tub refinishing, but was promptly addressed and taken care of. And some of the caulking in and around the the tub was not up to our standard in the guest bathroom (we are quite meticulous). That also was quickly redone. The drain parts were on back order, so took a little longer than expected to get installed, but all-in-all, we were pleased with the work.

We were looking to have our tiles cleaned and he looked at it and said "I don't know that I could do anything for you than you could by going to Home Depot and clean it on you own. I don't want to waste you money and time." We were looking at some paint at another area and he recommended someone but I couldn't remember. I was pretty happy with him. It was a lot more reasonable.

Cal Bath gave us an estimate earlier in the year, and we were happy with their price and suggestions for liner. Installer came on a Monday and finished on Wednesday. He put down a liner from our garage to the bathroom, covering our floors. He cleaned up each day, and on Wednesday before he left swept the garage floor clean of any debris from cutting the pieces, dust, etc. The work was exactly as promised by Cal Bath. This is the second time we have used CalBath to remodel a bathroom and would not hesitate to call them again if needed. I like the fact that we did not have to have the old shower or old tub and surround demolished. It saved us time and money. The bathrooms could not look better! The price of both bathrooms was about what it would have cost us for one bathroom had we gone with a contractor who demolished everything and re-tiled it all.

Calbath and Kitchen's quote was extremely high. It was bit confusing, in terms of getting the license because they asked the owner to get determent instead of them doing it.

Provider was very professional (sales team and technician), but sales took a while to call back once you leave a voice mail. The technician was a bit late, but gave the courtesy call that he is running late. Sales team and technician fully explained what needs to be done and what are the precautions. Re-glazing was performed and every effort to protect surrounding furniture in the bathroom was of the highest quality. Curing was suppose to last 2 to 3 days, but due to the weekend and available technicians it took 5 days total for the provider to come back. Technician removed all masking, re-install fixtures and new shower door. Some masking tapes peeled off some of the paint from the walls, but it was not a concern to me since I still have some of the paint available. A few days later I got a call from the sales team telling me that the shower door they gave me was the wrong size and have to send another tech to install the correct size. It was a bit inconvenient and should have not happened. Overall, if you are taking quality as the top concern. Cal-bath in my opinion will give you that quality and look forward to hiring them for future bathroom remodels. Note to customer who will need bathroom re-glazing: 1) Make sure they have the experience to perform the job. 2) The smell of the re-glazing is very overpowering and you should stay away if you really have respiratory problems. Stay at a friend or relative's house or even check in at a hotel/motel if necessary. 3) Make sure you have some leftover paint of your bathroom walls. You can not always guarantee masking tape will not peel off cleanly without damaging the walls. If you don't have the leftover paint, I recommend get something in writing with the provider if they end up damaging the wall paint due to the masking tape. 4) Schedule the job early in the week to avoid delays over the weekend.

So far so good. It look a little longer than I had hoped but still took likes than 4 days for a new shower. They arrived on time the first day and did all the prep work and then started on the demo. Day 2 was more demo, drywall install, plumbing, and shower pan install. Day 3 was the shower walls and sliding glass door. Half day on day 4 was all the caulking. The man was nice and they cleaned up each day. So far I am pleased. The shower looks better than I thought it would so as long as the quality of the martials last and the workmanship doesn't faulter, I am happy.
