Description of Work: Although the serviceman showed up on time, the pre-service paperwork was not forwarded to me and there were several things not mentioned...such as the house would have to be vacant for 8 hours the date if service (I was told 4) and that the bathtub could not be used for two days afterwards. They sent those items to me AFTER I signed the contract...tho I did state therein that I had not received the notices they stipulated were sent. It didn't seem to matter to the serviceman that I altered the contract, as it was clear English was not his first language and he didn't seem to understand my concerns all that well. I was forced to contact the office for the documents. | |Because I did not want to leave the property unattended, I stayed on an outside balcony, within 100 feet of the work area, and was easily accessible. In fact the worker told me twice he was going out to his truck. | |Imagine my surprise when he awkwardly told me, after the work was done and the entire bath was masked off, that there was a little trouble with the flooring, and it was probably due to water damage of some kind. With everything masked off, there was little I could say because I could see the problem. I thought it was odd, though, because just the day before he came, I made sure the area was clean and dry so that the caulking that was to come after the refinishing would be flawless. | |When it was time for the masking to be removed, I found the serviceman had cut my flooring, removing its top layer in an uneven fashion along the bottom of the tub. It was clear to me that during the stripping process, some if the chemical leaked onto the floor, damaging the flooring. Instead if calling me in, he took matters in his own hands to make it look "better" while removing the evidence of fault. There was no way I could question him, since I was told by him that the masking had to stay on for 24 hours, | |CalBath sent me a questionnaire after their service, wherein I related my experience and expectations, and mailed it back to them. I have heard nothing back and it's been about six weeks. | |The bathtub looks fine, but my floor is ruined.

Description of Work: I had my bathtub refinished and I thought it went quite well. My only issue was i found a few runs in the finish but being white you have to really be looking to find them. On a positive note the finish has a higher gloss than i was expecting so overall I'm pleased.

Our salesman Darrel was very quick and efficient. We told him what we wanted and our budget and we are very satisfied with the finished product. We were in a rush to complete before our relatives arrived for spring break and they were able to accommodate our needs ahead of schedule. We love our new bath, just wished we had called them sooner.
Description of Work: Cal Bath installed a shower/bath lining Covered old tile, bath, shower walls New fixtures Replaced piping into shower and bath Job was completed in 1 day and were able to use after 24 hours.

We began getting estimates months before we actually began the project. Cal Bath was the first supplier we had come in. They did not get back to us very quickly with an estimate but after getting 3 other estimates we returned to them. We were referred to a different sales rep for this next visit and from that point on we were in business. First stop was the guest bathroom which was estimated to take 5 days and it took six. The next bathroom was the master bath and was esimated to take 6 to 8 days and took 7 with a minor glitch of the shower door handle and soap dish missing from the order. We kept on them and within 3 weeks received and had installed those items. About 10 months later we were ready to do the kitchen, downstairs powder/laundry rooms and all of the flooring. We got our final estimate and had to negotiate some refinements to get the price down to our preferred expenditure. The estimates for time spent were always right on. The sales rep, Darrell, was easy to work with and was always available when we needed anything. He even came out sick to help do some installation on the powder room to make the scheduled finish. The flooring was the hardest operation for us as it involved a lot of furniture moving of which we did most of it but the floorers were very accommodating in working around the baby grand piano which they moved from place to place to finish the job on schedule. The kitchen redo went very smoothly for the most part. We had a couple of cabinet drawer fixes to be made and additional molding pieces required which ended up taking some reminders to get in place but finally we are totally complete and overall very satisfied with the outcome. We would recommend Cal Bath to friends and family.
Description of Work: Bathrooms (2) remodeled in 2011 to 2012. Then in late 2012 we began the downstairs remodel with one half bath, flooring for the entire downstairs and finally the kitchen was complete in Feb 2013. We chose Cal Bath over other providers because they were a full service provider. We were able to go to the showroom, select the materials and did not have to make arrangements for dumpsters or buy any of the bathroom tubs or faucets ourselves and their pricing still came in comparable to others or better. We had the bathrooms and kitchen totally gutted so we faced purchasing all items for completion.

I called several companies for estimates on refinishing the fiberglass shower pan in my master bath. Cal Bath had the quickest response, we the most knowledgeable and professional on the phone, and not at all pushy. Over the course of several days of calls and emails, we decided to have the entire shower stall coated instead of just the pan. There was no pressure from Cal Bath, just honest answers to our questions. The technician was clean, polite and on time. The masking and taping int he bath was outstanding, and the work performed was very, very nice. The only complaint I have is the texture material on the floor is not even, so it feels like there's sand in parts of the pan, but not all of it. Not a huge deal, but the only flaw in an other wise perfect job. After seeing the new shower stall coating,we decided to have Cal Bath replace the enclosure with a new glass one. Since I was out of town, my wife made the decision to go with clear glass. When I got home the next day and say the work order, I flipped! No way I'm having clear glass. Cal Bath changed the work order on a Saturday, and didn't charge me anything for the upgrade to 'rain glass' so no one has to look at me showering, (believe me, that's a good thing). The new enclosure looks amazing, and again the tech was on time, clean and polite. Overall, I'd recommend these guys to anyone. Just a good, professional group of people.

Our house is 44 years old and both our bathrooms needed repairs and updating because of cracked tiles, etc. In the summer I began calling contractors about remodeling and realized that living on a limited budget, we could not afford the prices quoted. And I did not want to go through a demolition of existing tub and tile. .In October I saw CalBath on Angie's List and drove to Newport Beach to the store. I was impressed with the many displays and made an appointment to talk at our home with the salesman the next day. He looked at one bathroom, gave me a price, and I signed a contract a few days later. Because this involved a tub liner ordered from out of state, it took several weeks to arrive. On November 3rd Dave from Cal Bath arrived about 8:30 and began working on prepping the tile surround and bathtub. The tub was installed after the plumbing was checked and a new valve installed. He was here about 6 hours, working meticulously on everything to be done. He made sure every bit of debris was taken out when he left. On Nov. 4th Dave worked another 5-6 hours and completed the tub surround. Everything was done very professionally, and again he cleaned up every speck of debris. We talked about CalBath remodeling our back shower in 2013. We were impressed from the start, and would recommend Cal Bath to anyone who would like to save some money and yet have a beautifully updated bathroom. I also appreciated the fact that the price given us was exactly what we paid!
Description of Work: Our existing tile and tub in our front bathroom were replaced with an acrylic liner, and a tub liner.
We had several project bidders. Although CalBath was higher priced, we chose them because (1) they were local in Orange County and had a showroom, (2) they would oversee the entire project (including plumbing, electrical, demolition and tile work) from start to finish, and (3) we really liked working with their sales representative, Mike De Costas. Mike was friendly, low-pressure and did not try to push anything on us that we did not want. He was extremely patient with us during the slow selection process of materials (tiles, cabinet wood, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, etc.). He did not rush us or grow impatient with us. He was knowledgeable and provided us with options, leaving the final decisions to us. For example, during the demolition phase, it was discovered that mold had grown behind the shower wall. We had not planned on taking down the entire wall, but Mike gave us 3 options for remedying the situation. We decided to have the entire wall torn down and install new tiling. It was the most expensive option, but Mike gave us 2 cheaper ones. The work itself was done in two weeks and was completed on time. Three different crews were involved. All were good about covering and protecting our carpeting and furniture. Because we had 2 other bathrooms, we were able to stay home during most of the work. We even left while some of the work was being done to avoid some of the noise and dust. Nine months later we are extremely happy with our new master bathroom! We have had no reason to have CalBath come back and fix anything. We are considering remodeling our kitchen, and if we do, we will consider CalBath on the top of our list of contractors.
Description of Work: CalBath organized and oversaw entire project contract from start to finish: Cost estimates (including variously priced options and change orders) Demolition (including removal of bathtub, toilet, medicine cabinets, sink cabinets, bathroom floor tile, sink light fixtures & sink area carpeting) Installation of new sink cabinets, new sink light fixtures, new low-flush toilet, new shower doors & new medicine cabinets. Preparation for new shower (including tar mopping of floor, re-plumbing for shower head, creation of a shower niche) Tile installation on wall of shower and bathroom/sink area floor

I am satisfied with Cal Baths work, but I think they are costly. However, I had a second bathroom remodeled by House of Flooring and was not happy at all with the process at all and prefer Cal Baths over HOF. There seems to be a lot of companies out there that want you to pick out all of the hardware and then go purchase it yourself. We had to choose and source all of the fixtures ourselves, and this took many hours of our own time. HOF does have a showroom, but all of the fixtures I had to find and purchase on my own. I frankly don't see how that saved me any money. In the case of Cal Bath, you were able to select what you wanted and they did their best to provide any material you wanted, I didn't have to go out and source anything. They truly were a general contractor and I have faith that they people working on my bath really worked for the company. With the other company, I am still not sure what was subcontracted out. The salesmen were very professional and gave great advice. I like the Corastone I selected and love the look of the bathroom. Cal Bath did take them a very long time to complete the job because some of the other companies didn't have what we needed in stock. I liked the fact that I saw the same face almost every day coming into my home and that they were able to speak English and explain to me what was going on at any given time. They cleaned up every day and kept the area very clean and this is a really big plus if you are having a bathroom remodeled. They did leave doors unlocked a couple of time when they left at the end of the day, but I can't recall any workers that have locked my doors.
Description of Work: Had a bathroom remodeled - tear down to the studs. Installed a beautiful vanity with Corastone, a shower/Jacuzzi bath with Corastone, new, toilet, floors, new drywall, painted.

Everything from the estimating, to the scheduling, to the actual work performed went very well overall. It's refreshing to find someone that delivers on their promise, maintains a professional relationship, and doesn't leave the customer with a sour taste from poor quality work.
Description of Work: Refinish existing bathtub with a special polyurthine coating. Appears to be very good and I hope it will last. Comes with a 7 year warranty agains't flaking, peeling ,etc. I'll let you you know if anything changes. As of right now, the company delivered as promised, was accurate in services rendered, and although the price was more than others I've seen advertised, sometimes you have to pay more for more value and quality. In this day and age you have to offer superior quality work in order to keep working as a contractor. Price and value of product delivered go hand in hand, and if you can offer what others can't, then you will always be ahead of the rest.
