Description of Work: I called them to come out and do a winter inspection for my furnace. The technician came out and put a carbon monoxide detector in the room that had the furnace. The detector showed 17 on the scale. He said "whoa, this is dangerous." He told me it should not be over 9. He told me to turn off the heater because it was leaking carbon monoxide. I have an elderly person living in my house, so I took this VERY seriously. He gave me a quote to replace the unit and everything. I turned off the heat, even though it was pretty chilly. I called the gas company and they came out and told me that my carbon monoxide reading was just fine. He measured almost every part of my house and told me there was NOTHING wrong with the reading. I called the owner with my concerns to talk to him about everything that I did as a result of what the technician told me, including purchasing a reader on my own and measured it myself and got a reading of 0. In addition, I did research online and found that the dangerous reading is much higher than 17! The technician told me that it was DANGEROUS to have the reading over 9! The gas company gave me a clean bill of health and it is obvious that the technician was trying to use scare tactics to get me to purchase a new unit worth thousands of dollars. This is not ok. To have us turn off the heat while we were having chilly weather and an elderly person living in the house just to sell a unit was just wrong. They offered to have someone come back out to the house to check again, but it was too little too late. They had already used their scare tactics and I felt compelled to do my own research and found out I was fine.

[Member Name Removed], You and I spoke a few times regarding this. I explained to you that were simply doing our job by informing you of the presence of CO. I also provide you with information regarding CO detectors, high lever detectors can not sense low level CO, you need to have a specialized low level detector ( I sent you the Information on this) I even offered to PAY for an independent third party whole house combustion test. If you go to the doctor and he finds your PSA a little high, but not high enough to warrant testing, wouldn't you want to know ? Is he in the wrong to inform you that you should be aware of it ? or is he scaring you into expensive testing procedures ? As a professional business, we will always inform someone of higher levels of CO and at the very least offer a solution to it. I would never want someone to ask, "Why we didn't inform them of Higher CO findings" You may feel save in your home, the gas company may say its OK, but we did find CO leakage and we did our job to inform you of it.

I just wanted to thank Ray and his crew for all their hard work. I am a very picky and meticulous person and finding someone I could trust was difficult. Ray assured me that they would be careful with my belongings and work around my pets (2 small dogs). Him and his crew arrived on time, I was introduced to crew foreman and immediately they begin prepping my home with traps and plastic, beyond what I thought they would crew cover. They worked hard throughout the day and although Ray assured me the job would take only one day, I thought for sure, based on what I have seen from my many neighbors that have replaced, they would be here for many days. I was very surprised when the crew foreman knocked on the door to inform me that he was finished and wanted to review the system and shoe me how to use my thermostat. By this time all of the other guys were cleaning up and putting away their tools. At the end, I have a great new Lennox system, it is much quieter than most of my neighbors that have had theirs replaced and I was very surprised on high quiet the AC was outside (This was a big concern for me from the beginning). My neighbors are fed up with me bragging about my new system and the job that Southland provided for us and would without question, recommend them to anyone.
