Marzalek Hardwood Floors

It went very well indeed, and the floor is drop-dead gorgeous. A Casa Conejo home, built in 1964, it needed a bold uplift, and Mr. Marzalek's handling of the installation was superb. Prep was thorough and comprehensive, including furniture removal. Installation of the "reference" flooring (the initial floor strips that determine the alignment of the entire remainder) was perfect, and I do know something about it from experience. He took his time to make sure every board was flawless, and I dare say he was. He also showed mastery of molding, and created some from left-over cherry I had on hand to match my older kitchen cabinets, and did so from scratch. He is chatty (enjoyably so), and treated my and my wife with respect and good humor. And, he did take the time to inform this old woodworker of the fact that bamboo is not a wood, but a grass, and must be treated differently from how one treats wood. We fully expect to retain him for the remaining three rooms in our home to continue his work.

I think that Sean is the best there is. He was able to refinish my 1980's engineered floor. The floor was coming up and the glue was brittle. I had some water damage where the boards needed to be replaced. Sean worked with me to find a great color. He sanded the floor, glued loose boards down and all of the grooves in between the boards. He did a flawless job on the floor and then re-did all the base boards. No detail was too small. He helped me move the furniture around so that I could stay in the house while he worked. I'm finally almost done with my major remodel and the work that Sean did was amazing! I would highly recommend him. If he costs more than another bid, I would still pick Sean. He's well worth what he charges. He's usually booked up. You will have to wait, but it was worth it.

Sean worked weekends to get our job done quickly. He takes pride in his work and the results exceeded our expectations.

We purchased a house built in the 1940's with hardwood floors that had never been touched. They were extremely dirty but not terribly worn and we thought it was going to be a fairly straightforward and quick sand/refinish job. But Sean found boards that were broken, areas that needed to be repaired, a little bit of mold, cat pee spots and rot here and there, and ended up replacing far more of them than we originally anticipated. I had complete faith that his decisions of which boards needed to be replaced and which could be saved were sound and would make the floor look fabulous. I was not disappointed. The quick job that we originally anticipated was lengthened by at least a week, but his work was impeccable and the results entirely worth the delay and upcharge. We never could have anticipated just how fabulous the floors would turn out. He has worked magic! Sean not only does great work, but he shows up when he says he will, he stays as long as is necessary, he kept me updated every step of the way with what was going on didn't create any mess or chaos in my house! He is a joy that can match his work ethic with outstanding results. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone and have, in fact, already done so.

In Short, Sean crushed it! He was able to squeeze me in before going out of town as I was working on a deadline and he was able to accommodate! Great customer service and the end result was amazing. I would absolutely use him again and am very pleased with his work.

Sean Marzalek is an artisan! He worked for us years ago and installed manufactured oak floor (quarter sawn, incredible grain and staining!) We wanted to extend the floor into the family room, but he found out the manufacturer was no longer in business. So, he custom-ordered the wood to match the existing, and worked to patch into the old floor and lay the new one. Additionally, Sean was incredibly flexible about working at odd hours of the day and on weekends to dovetail with other work being done by our GC. He was cheerful, informative, helpful and always went the extra mile to provide incredible customer service. Many of our neighbors have used him as well over the years, as he's a rare find, and absolutely loves his work and loves wood! No one else will ever touch our floors but Sean!

They are very clean, and had a good attention of detail. They moved some of the furniture, and put it right back. They covered up the room with a plastic shield so that the plastic dust wouldn't get into the other rooms.

He ended up doing the entry way and the stairs. He was able to buff it down and refinish it. It really looked terrific when he was done. He was even able to replace some broken pieces. They matched up perfectly. Overall he did a terrific job. He had great attention to detail on all the small portions of the job as well. He had a reasonable price too.
