First of all, Dan and Bruce are brothers that are both professional painters that are true craftsmen. Too many people call themselves painters, but have little skill or pride in their workmanship. Bruce and Dan have pride in their work and understand that their reputation means everything. They are not computer savvy, do not advertise, and get the vast majority of their business through referrals and repeat customers. They've been professional painters for around 30 years. I was going to hire another painter from recommendations on Angie's List, but my daughter had used Dan D's in the past and strongly encouraged me to call them for an estimate before making a decision. She told me that they were conscientious, did a great job, and their prices were very competitive. I was concerned that I was not able to find much information or reviews for them online, but I decided to give them a call since her recommendation was so strong. They returned my call within the hour and scheduled an appointment to look at the job for the next evening. They arrived as promised and spent over an hour looking things over, discussing our options, and providing their recommendations. We were very pleased that they were very detail oriented and ensured that they understood what we wanted. We discussed colors, paint qualities, finish options, and they suggested colors and finishes they thought would look nice, but left it totally up to us. The only thing they told us they would not do is paint with poor quality paints. They said we would be unhappy with the results over time, and that they value their reputation too much to have customers unhappy with their job. They said the cost difference between low quality paints and top of the line paints was small compared to the cost of the labor. They said they would pass on their costs for the paint and materials, and that they would only pay for their labor. They said they call us in a few days with a firm price for the job. We received a call the next day. They reviewed all aspects of the job in detail to ensure that we were both on the same page, told us what brand and line of paint they planned to use, and gave us a price that was considerably lower than their competition. We told them we would hire them and they gave us a start date that was two weeks away - they had a large job they needed to finish before they started with us. They came out and spent the first 3 days doing prep work. Furniture was moved and covered, flooring was covered, and baseboards and trim were taped very carefully. They explained that the prep work was time consuming, but extremely important to ensure clean lines and that no paint end up where you don't want it during the painting process. The interior job took about two weeks and when they were done, my wife and I were beyond pleased with the results. The house looked awesome, the color combinations were great, the cuts were perfect and we couldn't find a single drop of paint on our floors or anywhere it shouldn't be. These are the neatest painters I have ever seen. They planned the job to minimize our inconvenience so that we could use most of our home at any given time. Near the end of the job of painting the interior, they offered to paint the exterior for a very good price. We had received quotes for the exterior from other painters, but had decided to put that off for a while due to the extra expense. We were so pleased with their job painting the interior, and their price to do the exterior was so attractive, we decided to go ahead with the exterior too. Again, they did an absolutely great job, and the house looks amazing. During a day where they were unable to paint outside due to strong winds, they still came out and removed all of our exterior light fixtures, cleaned the discolored glass, removed the rust, and repainted them to look like new. These guys are truly amazing painters that have pride in their work and reputation. They are caring, wanting to please, ethical, have a lot of skill developed from years of experience, and are very competitively priced. I strongly recommend them even though you won't find many reviews or advertising for them online. Their business is entirely word of mouth. They probably won't even see this review since they are not at all computer savvy, but they are great painters. You won't be disappointed - do yourself a favor and at least get an estimate from them.
