Telephoned Aladdin after checking for A/C service on Angie's List. The dispatcher was polite and even somewhat knowledgeable about residential air conditioning. Originally the field tech was to show up between 4 pm and 7pm. Got a call from Aladdin stating they could have a man here a couple of hours earlier, which was great since it was about 80 inside the house by then. The field tech's name was Jessie, who was polite and well groomed. After I explained the issue, he did write up what I guess was a preliminary work order and explained the benefits of a small maintenance contract on the furnace and A/C unit. I don't usually sign up for these things, as generally I am capable of diagnosing and fixing most things around the house. I made the call for Aladdin because I am not tooled up for a compressor replacement. Anyway, I took a liking to the tech, and felt he was being quite honest and up front with me, so I bought the maintenance contract. As it turned out, the problem was a blown run capacitor. Kind of embarrassing for me to admit that I failed to check that after going through the compressor wiring and determining that the windings were fine. So Jessie caught it right away and explained that I could just replace the capacitor, or I could go with a control upgrade that would provide extra start protection to the compressor. I opted for the complete fix. In short, I really enjoyed doing business with Jessie, as I am impressed with anybody who shares exactly what he is doing and answers questions without an attitude. I build electrical control cabinets for a living, and that man knew his stuff. Pricing is a little high, but since he had all the parts he needed on site, it was worth it for me to pay the premium to get comfort immediately. I will use Aladdin again in a heart beat should the need arise, but as I told Jessie, I will look closer at capacitors the next time I run into motor or compressor problems. I would not hesitate to refer my friends to Aladdin, and in particular, Jessie.

Great thorough service and attention to detail.

Aladdin spent a lot of time examining my needs and making an informed recommendation. They were very professional and knowledgeable. However, the price they bid was high. To get the job they were willing to almost meet the price I had from another reputable contractor. But for the price, I would have used them.

As one would expect from a top company.

We live on a hillside in Malibu and have the pleasure of the Santa Monica mountains as our backyard. We also have lots of critters who come and visit the property. Our HVAC system began to emit an unpleasant smell and we noticed a couple of mice getting in the house via the registers. We had just replaced all the ducting a few months earlier due to rodent damage and the company that did the work (and guaranteed the ducting rodent proof) refused to replace it saying that we had "very big rodents". After filing complaints against that company with the State, we contacted three Angie's List Grade "A" firms to get a read on what we needed to do to solve our problem. We made the request for a service call and estimate on December 21st and later that day received a call from Aladdin to schedule the call which took place on the 23rd. The service representative was Rocky Rocco. The house was built in 1962 and like a lot of older homes in Malibu had a lot of bootleg work done before LA County took over building permits and inspection. The HVAC package unit was perched on the side of the hill under a deck which had been added at some point and built over top of the air handler. It was a hard slog to get to the air handler unit just to inspect it and even more difficult to access the raised foundation and ducting. But Rocky crawled right in, took a bunch of pictures and diagnosed the issue. The company that did the duct work left the inspection door open on the airhandler. As the winter set in, every creature that could set up house in the air handler where it was nice and warm and dry and then proceeded to do their business there. Nests had been built in the coils and some animals had died or been killed by others and that was the smell. Yikes. The package unit was 22 years old as was the old airhandler. So we decided to replace the whole system and put in hard ducting to prevent any more of our furry friends from coming to nest. We also paid a carpenter to build a varmit proof cage to surround the air handler and prevent any intrusion. Aladdin bent over backwards to get the work offering three different scenarios and aggressive pricing to get our business. We had received two other bids from the other Angies A Listers (who were also wonderful, professional companies by the way). They were very competitive two but we settled on Aladdin because they were first, their price was the most competitive for what we ere getting and they seemed genuinely interested in doing what I wanted them to do which was "treat this job like it was your house." That was important to me because I work overseas and had to leave the job to them to do without my being there. Rocky and his crew (Jose, Jorge, Miguel and Pedro) did a wonderful job, completing the whole rehab in 8 working days instead of the estimated 10. I received daily pictures of the progress and reports from Rocky. We had one glitch in the job when they had to cut the tile floor out to install a new register and the plastic sheeting collapsed leaking some dust into the house and some mastic got stuck on a carpet. But the dust issue was solved quickly by Rocky and his crew and the mastic was removed from the carpet. Everything else was perfect in my estimation. The cleanup was great. They hauled everything away and worked their behinds off to do the job right. They even installed a switched worklight in the "cage" to make future inspections and filter changes less problematic. (I had the carpenter install a trap door through the deck to eliminate that long crawl to the unit as well.) The ductwork is amazing in the neatness of installation and the wrapping, sealing and installation. We paid a little extra to get a UV Germicidal system and air purifier to ensure the air coming in was as good at it can be. My wife is asthmatic and that was important to me and will be money well spent in the long run. So now we have a new system and none of our little friends from the hills living in it. We are very glad we used Aladdin. By any estimation, this was a difficult job to do given the access issues and ancillary problems they had to overcomeThey did everything they said they would do and more. I can see why they are an A rated company. They get my vote and they will be maintaining our system going forward I trust them to do the job right. Thank you Rocky and crew. Well done.

Our new Furnace was installed in our attic by another company, and and they were supposed to create two separate zones. One was for the upstairs, and one for the downstairs. It seemed as if this didn't work properly. They came out and did seasonal servicing, but never were able to correct the problem! Every time they came they gave the hard sell, sold us things for the system that possibly were not needed, and were overpriced as we later found out. We decided that we needed a new HVAC company! Angie's List had a coupon deal with Aladdin A/C & Heating Co. and we snapped it up. They were local for us, and we have learned that we can trust Angie's contractors. The serviceman, Wayne A., came out and did the semi-annual servicing. He was very personable, clean-cut, polite, and informative. Since he was going to be servicing the unit I told him about the problem with the zones. He checked them out and said that they weren't wired properly! Wayne returned on another day, and rewired the zones. The A/C was a single stage, and the new furnace was a two stage. That was causing the control board to shut off the A/C. Wayne installed a hard start kit for the A/C to solve that problem. The system now works as it should have before, and when we need to replace the old A/C it should all work better. The best part is the price. They have The Aladdin Club which, for a small fee, gets you some nice price breaks! That saved me quite a bit. Wayne is so nice and honest and the office staff that I talked to were also very nice, I look forward to a long relationship with Aladdin!

Went well, very happy with outcome.

Very satisfied with all aspects of the work performed. My one story home has tight attic crawlspace and both technicians were skilled and prepared with all the appropriate measures to dismantle the old unit, assemble and install the new unit. After several weeks of trying to repair my old unit part by part with a different service provider who was very unprofessional and completely unhelpful, I called Aladdin and they were honest, realistic, and very professional. I was immediately surprised by the level of importance they clearly placed on the customer experience. From the moment I contacted the front office to the time the work was completed, every person who provided service demonstrated the highest level of professionalism. Everyone we interfaced with was friendly, including the schedulers, and knew how to connect with customers as people, which is very important to me. They understood we had been suffering bad service along with having to endure weeks of intermittent heating in unseasonably cold temps. They showed compassion and a commitment to providing us comfort - they even brand their service reps as 'comfort experts!' Richard Squires was our comfort expert, and he was very knowledgable and delivered excellent service. He arrived at my home within 45 mins of the call and within 36 hours, the job was completed. Richard explained the process thoroughly and our excellent installers Jose and Jorge completed the job in 5 work hours. They even helped us to understand the other components of our system and ensured that all parts were serviced to code to ensure maximum functionality going forward. Upon completion, they tested the unit and cleaned up very thoroughly. As any homeowner, I was not thrilled by having to install a new furnace, but now that Aladdin has helped us with ours, I feel secure for now knowing we have this efficient new unit and a great service provider who will be responsive and effective in ensuring our HVAC needs are met.

Excellent experience. Rocky, the sales manager, came out the day after I called and made a complete inspection of the area where the furnace is located and examined the existing ducts as well. He noticed a break in the main duct, which is a dangerous condition. He explained fully the type of furnace I would require and showed me the differences among the various models. He explained everything fully and answered all my questions. He did not rush me or pressure me to make a decision. I scheduled the work the next day. The crew arrived on time and Rocky showed up to introduce them and get the join going. The entire process was completed in about 5 hours. This included removal of the old unit, cleaning up debris, installing new ducts where broken, and installing the new unit. After instillation the unit was calibrated to factory standards. The entire work area was covered and when work was finished the area was spotless. They showed me how to program the new thermostat. I can't say enough about Rocky and the crew; Miguel, and Jose. I would highly recommend this company.

This service was performed at my mother's house. I recommended Aladdin to her from our previous experience. Her response - "Aladdin Air Conditioning was a very good service experience. The man arrived on time, dressed in an appropriate manner. He very quickly took care of my air conditioning problem, explained what needed to be done. He also checked my furnace, cleaned the filter, reassembled everything promptly. He prepared my bill and told me about a twice a year check-up on my equipment for a reasonable price. I would recommend to any friend or neighbor, thanks Aladdin."

I had booked Aladdin for their tune-up special for my 15-yr old furnace. Wayne Andrews, Aladdin's technician, was prompt, courteous, professional and a diligent worker. He was actually able to fit me in early. Wayne performed the tune-up, showed me a photo of a problem in the duct connection and promptly fixed it. All pricing was so reasonable, I signed up for the annual maintenance contract! He also changed the furnace filter and left me a spare.

This provider was good all the way. The system works flawlessly, (2 systems actually) and the service has been great. It wasn't cheap but we feel confident that all is well. Really good quality workmanship and good design of the installation. Great folks to work with and less ambiguity than the previous provider. This provider really stressed the energy saving systems available. I would recommend this company.

It was a pleasure to work with the professionals at ALADDIN A/C. What a difference! Before Aladdin I had a bad experience with another Heating and Air Condition company in my area. Here?s what happened: Our A/C stopped and I called a company I?d used in the past. They used to be fine but I feel there must have been some changes is their operation? I was not satisfied. They came out, did their inspection and replaced a motor for $416. The A/C worked a few days and we had to have the company come again. We thought they?d have to replace the motor again. It wasn?t the motor. The next man came out checked and said he couldn?t fix it. It was a bigger job. He said he?d have someone else call me about what should be done. We waited over a week and no one ever called but they didn?t forget to send me a bill for another Truck Fee. ($82.50). I decided to get another opinion. I looked up Angie?s list and found ALADDIN A/C listed with a long list of satisfied customers. I called ALADDIN and they were able to send someone over right away. A personable young man, Jesse, gave a through inspection and explained exactly what was needed and roughly how much it would cost. He also checked our furnace,our humidifier and found out that our furnace was capable of using a 4 Ton A/C unit instead of the 3.5 ton unit we had before. (An item we had thought about upgrading for years!) Two days later another polite, informed man, Rocky, came and gave us the exact figures for a new A/C with a ten year warranty. We accepted his offer for a 4 ton unit and set a date. Within three days the installers arrived. Four hours later it was finished. Like clockwork Jesse came back at the end of the install and checked everything out, cleaned the filter, the furnace and installed a new humidifier filter. The entire operation was flawless. ALADDIN did more than was expected and, thanks to Jesse and Rocky, I expect my relationship with ALADDIN A/C to be a long one,

Aladdin responded quickly with someone who gave us several options at different prices. Their estimate fell somewhere in the middle of what we got from other companies but the real difference here was service. They showed up with a large crew and tackled the job in less than two days. They were clean and the workmanship was excellent. Guys were friendly, too.

Working with Aladdin was the best experience I've ever had with any type of contractor. The reason for this is simple. They are professional, knowledgable, honest and most importantly, for me, understanding of special needs. I am very chemically sensitive and cannot use many standard products such as glues, tapes, etc. I asked Aladdin to use certain products and to find out if certain chemicals were in any parts of the AC condenser, evaporative coil or heater. They took their own time, at their expense, to research all of my concerns (and there were many) with their own technical support team. I was so impressed with that. Especially after having several HVAC companies turn down the job because they didn't want to deal with my issues. When it was time to install the system, the installers were amazing. They were knowledgable, on time, very clean and answered any questions I had. They were completely aware of my sensitivities and made sure they showed me all the products they were using as well as explain exactly how they would be installing or using them. The HVAC system works great. Aladdin will give you very personalized service, a great product at a reasonable price.

On the Friday evening before Labor day weekend some part of the a/c system failed. Our usual HVAC lives two hours away and did not want to fight holiday traffic. We turned to Angie's list and called the two closest HVAC service centers. Alladin answered immediately and we had a repairman at the house by 11 a.m. on Saturday. he got everything up and running again. Very courteous, thorough.

Air conditioning died and because of their reputation on Angie's List called them to come out see if it could be fixed. The serviceman was a little late, but called to let me know. It was incredibly hot and they were busy and since he called I had no issue with it. As I expected the 20 year old unit had died a sudden death during the hottest weekend of the year. He could not give me a quote, but scheduled to have a sales person come out. This was our first bid and it came out very high...almost 5k over what we eventually spent. Here is the thing...we told him that we were going to get other bids and his response was before we went with someone else let him have another chance at it. Maybe it's just me, but when getting a bid I would appreciate their best shot the first time. We heard the same thing from some of the other companies. It is time consuming getting bids, we had 5 all together, and going back to go over it again is annoying but maybe that is just the business. The other issue I had was that he said we only needed a 4 ton and all the other bidders said that the size of the house required a 5 ton. I even had a friend's air conditioning guy come out and take a look at the unit (he does commercial air conditioning and does smaller jobs on the side). He knew I wouldn't be buying a unit from him and he said he wouldn't consider anything less than a 5 ton. Finally, the bid for the 4 ton was more than the other bids for a 5 ton.

We noticed that our AC had failed Tuesday night. Wednesday morning, I called Aladdin to explain the problem. They offered to send someone out that afternoon, but I arranged for Thursday morning instead. Jesse arrived early into the repair window. After I showed him the problem, he showed me what was wrong and why. He detailed the prices clearly and explained which were necessary and why. While doing the work, he discovered an expensive item that wasn't up to code and took pictures in the attic to show me what had been done improperly. He told me the price to repair it as well as a lower-priced option that would be a 70% fix, but didn't pressure me to fix it that day. I was very happy with his service.

Salesman was very nice, but the price was on the high end - but the thing I didn't like was the unexpected push at the very end to have the work done in the next three days - which can complicate invoking the 3 day waiting period for a contract signed in the home. In retrospect it seems to me that they pushed the job to be started so soon simply to get me committed to a very expensive project which I (it turned out), didn't really need. I suspect their work is OK, but be careful about the "closing the deal" aspect of your work relationship. At my request they cancelled the project, the next day, without complaint (but after offering several price reductions).

The salesman was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The installation went as he had described. The precision of the workers, the crane and the installation was first rate. They showed up when they said they would and the chorography was precise. They answered all of my questions and were very helpful. You would be very happy with their work.

They had previously checked out the units. They came out promptly to fix it and they didn't charge anything the last time because they had done the work originally. We have a plan where they come out yearly to check the unit, clean out the filter and clean the whole unit. They were on time.

I think the people who came to do the job were really nice and treated us with a great deal of respect. They showed up when they were supposed to show up and worked throughout the day. They got the job done on time when they said that they were going to get the job done. They were very considerate about the house and made sure they cleaned up all the mess before they left. They knew what they were talking about as far as the product was concerned. They were very good and transparent about the information they gave. I found them on Angie's List; they were great and did a wonderful job.

They were very punctual and professional starting from first visit to evaluate the situation to completion of the job. My system was over 20 years old and had been having problems for a while so I was expecting to replace it. They (Richard) provided accurate estimates on all costs and he handled all the details - which included getting the replacement units, arranging the crew and crane that was needed to lift the old AC system off the roof and place in the new one. The entire job was detailed on paper and was explained to my satisfaction so I completely understood what I was getting for the money. A few days before the actual work started, Richard called to remind me of their arrival time - much appreciated. That gave me time to notify my HOA and neighbor that would also be effected. On the work day, Richard arrived promptly at the scheduled time and introduced me to the crew who arrived at same time. He made sure the crew had all they needed to complete the job, that the crane was in place, all needed items were on hand, and gave me his cell number before leaving. The crew continued and stayed pretty much the entire day. The crew was very courteous and professional. They had no problem making room for the plumber that was also on-site making repairs. My property ,as well as my neighbor's, was well protected with drop cloths and no mess of any type was left behind. They even vacuumed the carpet in the work area - very much appreciated!! I cannot tell you how rare it is that people do that! Most of the time, after a fix-it person leaves, I have to clean up afterwards. Once the install was done, they tested the system and explained how to program/operate my new thermostat. They made sure I was happy before leaving. They were great!
