Modern Method Roofing & Construction

I had two jobs done by modern method on my rental property. one in 2016 and one in 2019. One was a skylight leak repair and the other a section of leaking flat roof. both jobs took a couple months to mobilize in winter. The skylight repair failed after 3 years. The other section was done with white material, while the rest of my roof is brown, so it looks pretty terrible. As the owner, I was never made aware of this decision- they worked directly with my property manager which I consider unprofessional considering they changed my roof color. I called them out to see what can be done about both. They told me the skylight repair was not done the right way and needed to replace the entire roof section including the skylights. They also said they would torch down some brown material over the white material they provided and quoted me for both. I tried to appeal to them as to why I would give them even more money to do my skylights when they recommended the repair that failed, and also why in the world they would change my roof color. The estimator gave me some options including torching brown material down over the white, paying full price for all of the repair. I called to complain, and they sent their owner over who basically told me that any flat roofing is always done with white material (sorry, not true), that torching brown material over the top is not a very good thing to do, and that the skylights obviously need to be replaced. He didn't have anything to say about why I should trust them to do good work other than "I wasn't involved in the conversations, so I don't know". Very disappointed.

They are excellent. They did a fine job. They came out, looked at it and gave us an estimate. They saw how the builder had done a poor job and the water ended up piling in one area so they fixed that. They are a little pricey but they do a good job. I don't mind paying a little more for a good roofer.

Oh my God they are fantastic. Oh my God , they are the best. They are just really good they are the best vendor I have ever used. Well because my roof is beautiful. What happened was, we had a you know, they came out and gave me a bid. My roof was having some issues and I did not think it was, he did not even think it was that bad, and what happened was that the roof started to fail, like it was too weak. And they came out everytime I called them. Because we had ran into like a time, and they had to do a schedule, a reschedule of three weeks and I am waiting for this roof. They came out every time it rained and a drop came in through that, if I had called for a complaint, they came out immediately that day. And they needed time to fix it but they instead of fixing would replace the whole thing. It was a $ 30,000 roof. Yeah, so it was a huge roof. So they did a great job. One of the other contractors came out after that, and said you know, Cheryl your roof is beautiful. Modern methods, they are like A+ . I worked them over, I made them put me on their insurance. They are really quick, every time I called them out, they did not charge me and they knew that I was going to replace the whole thing. And I was really really very happy.

During installation they damaged handrails on our staircase, crushed plants that weren't in the way of their work and left nails all over my lawn and yard. When I called to complain I was told I had signed a contract and they were not responsible for any of those things. I have done my best to stear family and friends away from their business ever since.

Great company. Workers were professional & pleasant to have around. They were recommended by a friend and I would recommend them to a friend. Almost a year later and I am very happy I went with these guys. Bruce didn't respond within 24 hours; however, he bothered to address my many questions and was very knowledgeable ( unlike most roof companies I talked to). Roof looks great.

They were good at troubleshooting.

I had a positive impression about them. They followed up promptly. However, they did not provide the details that they suggested their bid would reflect. The different options were not provided to me.

It was a trying experience. It was hard to get them to call back and when they did call back, it was hard to get them scheduled and get them to show up. We spent a couple of months trying to get them to show up. They have an answering machine instead of a live person answering the phone. It wasn't easy. When they did show up, they did do the job. They did good work, but it was hard to get them here. We have a gutter cover because of the pine trees and they dislodged one of those and we had to get the gutter people to come out and reinstall it. They were not real careful, but the roof itself is good and it doesn't leak. We called a couple of other companies and they were right in the middle.

We had two estimates from contractors that had been recommended by friends. Modern Method came in $6,000 under the other contractor, but the recommendations on their work were outstanding, both our friends and online. Our house was built in 1989 and we have had a leaking roof since we moved in in 1997. After many repairs, we decided to bite the bullet and replace it. We wanted to improve the quality of materials as well as the functionality of the roof. Modern metod was able to recommend upgraded shingles that still put them 25% below the competition. I can't help but think their location outside of Marin helps with fixed costs. They were great to deal with, from the principle down to each worker who showed up at our house. They showed up on time, explained when they ran into dry rot, fixed the problems quickly and even painted where some workers had left hand prints on one of the gables. I have no qualms about their honest or professionalism and would recommend them to anyone needing to make this important and large investment.

Well, the work this company did resolved the immediate leak problem I was having. At some point I will still need to have my roof redone though to prevent problems down the road. They were punctual and did pretty good work though. I had no major complaints with them. They were respectful and polite.

When dealing with Modern Method roofing I found them to be very detailed and careful with the work they did. Everyone that I had to come in contact with was very approaching and knowledgeable about the mission that needed to be accomplished.

Overall, the experience was great. They were a little slow to get our small project started, but the workers were professional, tidy, and very quick. They were patient with us as we worked through the many different tile options. In the end, the roof looks great, and we will gladly use them to put the roof on our house next year.

Modern Method roofing replaced the old shingles on our house. They came and took off the old shingles and put the new ones on. They were very efficient and cleaned up everything when they were done with the roof. I am very pleased with the work and the price was very good as well. I would also recommend them to other people needing a new roof. They are a very professional roofing company with a vast knowledge of the industry.

The roof on our home had a leak, so we called Modern roofing to take a look at it & they were great. They fixed the roof & we did not have to have it replaced so that was nice. While they were doing the repair to the roof, we asked them to clean the gutters. They did a great job of cleaning the gutters also. I was pleased with their service & would certainly recommend them.
