Description of Work: The plumber was very deliberate, in other words, slow. The work was excellent and it was the time taken that reduced the rating from an A to a B.

+ -1 moreApril, 2014 we had another plumber install a new water heater in our garage. Unfortunately he failed to secure the earthquake straps to studs so when the Napa earthquake happened the expansion tank collapsed causing a leak. He also failed to prime the recirculating equipment installed on the original equipment and it grinded to a stop at 2:00am the next morning, claiming it was a coincidence. I had to pay for a new device. After the earthquake I called Ken Mays plumbing, they arrived very shortly thereafter, even though the earthquake had caused damage everywhere. He reset the expansion tank, braced it correctly, installed a cap on a gas line in the garage where an appliance had been removed, (even our house inspector didn't see this), reset the recirculating pump properly, reset my seismic shut off value. All $50 per hour cheaper than the last plumber. Professional, knowledgeable, courteous. I recommend them to all my neighbors.
Description of Work: He reset my gas breaker, braced the water heater expansion tank, capped a gas line in the garage, primed and reset a recirculating pump.

+ 0 moreI called Ken Mays plumbing explaining that I needed a number of copper fittings soldered together as I did not have enough time to perform the work myself. They said that they could send someone out to solder the fittings. I cut and cleaned all of the fittings and assembled them in place, only awaiting their workman. I showed the workman the assembled fittings and then I left for my work. During the day he soldered together fittings, some incorrectly. My wife messaged me photos for me to approve the work, from which photos I identified the mistakes the Ken Mays workman made, and issued instructions for correction.
Description of Work: The hourly price to perform basic plumbing work seems high compared to other tradesmen. We procured and prepared all of the materials and set it in place (cut piping to size, configured valves, etc.) however when the Ken Mays workman sweated the assemblies together he got them in the wrong order and had to redo them. In addition no attention was paid to protect finished floors and other surfaces from soldering flames, solder drips, etc. so don't expect their work to leave your home neat and clean In addition the sloppiness in soldering together fittings resulted in melting a sediment filter which we had to replace.
