I was phoned by this company (calling themselves Indoor Air Quality) and told that they had done business with me in 2008.Without thinking I said OK for an appointment in a couple of weeks. A scheduler phoned about ten minutes later to verify the appointment. (I didn't understand why.) I didn't remember even having work done by this company, so I checked my records --- both old invoices and my financial accounts on Quicken. Neither showed this company's name or any service like what they offered. So I looked at Angie's List and found two F reviews. I phoned the number displayed on Angie's List, and got a recording. I asked them to phone me back (so I could cancel the appointment.) I never heard from them. The day before the appointment, there was a message on my answering machine asking me to phone back to verify the appointment. The 888 number they gave was for a dental office. With no way to get in touch with this company, I answered the door when the service man arrived and told him I was cancelling the appointment. He asked why, and I told him there were two very negative reviews on Angie's List. He said, OK, sorry. And walked away.

I was contacted by this company with an offer for a furnace inspection and central heating vent cleaning. The cleaning was to have been done for a special rate of $49. The young man who came never inspected anything and told me that it was impossible to clean the vent piping because rodents had ripped through the insulation surrounding the pipes. His conclusion was based upon viewing one section of pipe, while shining a flashlight under the house. He never got under the house. There was some plastic covering missing from the outside of the insulation in the area he viewed, but all the heating vent pipes are in otherwise good condition. The employee told me that we would have to pay about $1800 to replace all the vent piping. The $49 vent cleaning special is nothing but a means of soliciting work that does not need to be done. I was disgusted by this company's business practices. | | |

When the service tech arrived, he stated that he needed to see the ducting in the attic. This was never stated on the sales call and, in fact, our vents are totally covered over by an attic floor. He would not do the furnace duct cleaning without seeing the ducts. I then asked what the cost would be to just clean the dryer vent and duct. He said $10 per foot and estimated that we had a 15 foot duct. So, $150 minimum. This is clearly a bait and switch operation. I asked the service tech to leave.
Description of Work: The sales description was full cleaning of all furnace ducts, for two furnaces, safety check for two furnaces and full cleaning of dryer vent & duct. (One furnace & ducts + dryer vent/duct cleaning was offered at $59.95.)
