Inman Landscaping (Bob Inman) was one of 2 suggested landscape contractors recommended by our designer, Affordable Landscape Solutions (Gio Leonardo). We selected Bob Inman because he quoted a lower price and he professed a relentless perfectionism and pride in his work. He said that he would let us know if we were making decisions contrary to his best judgment. He also said that he often drove past completed projects long after their completion to check on them. Overall, we have been satisfied with the quality of the work, but there have been problems with various aspects, some of which we are still are working to resolve. The start of work was delayed by a few weeks as Bob had not secured the various permits by the expected start date. In addition, the plants and trees arrived weeks before they were to be planted, and many languished in the spring heat such that many looked dried out and unhealthy when they were finally planted. There was a problem with the grading work and drainage plan in the back/side of the house, such that we feared damage to our two large HVAC units in the event of rain. The current outstanding issues needing correction include the following: concrete pilaster caps with chips in the corners when the mold was removed; minor damage to porch columns resulting from demo of original porch; sand leaking out from between pavers on porch. All of the above problems may have been much less problematic if communication with Bob were better. We have found that it sometimes takes multiple emails and text messages to get a response, and some emails are completely ignored. After detailed oral, text, or email communication, it seems that important details somehow still need to be repeated. Bob's defensive and irritated tone in response to our concerns has been particularly stressful-not the expected response from an avowed perfectionist. Furthermore, it has been increasingly difficult to secure a commitment to complete the outstanding issues. Apparently Inman Landscaping is facing ongoing scheduling difficulties preventing the dispatching of the necessary crew to address the remaining problems. We have been disappointed that Bob has been willing to settle for results that in some cases were quite unsatisfactory (planting withered and dying plants instead of replacing them before planting; the chipped concrete pilaster cap). We have been frustrated that there has been so much resistance to resolving these problems. For instance, we have been waiting about 8 months for him to repair the pilaster caps with the chips. Because of this delay, we are going to have to incur the cost of replacing a perfectly good cap so that it matches the others. We feel that a more professional contractor would have resolved this issue in a much more timely manner, and not charged us extra to get a satisfactory product. Also, it is noteworthy that Bob has not been out to our home in about a year even though there have been outstanding issues. We've had to settle for emails and texts in which we send him photos.
