Rich and his team were excellent to work with. I enjoyed having them on my property. Their work is efficient and well done. Rich, the owner of Cosmos Roofing was at my home frequently to make sure that everything was done correctly and to his specifications. Several times his workers volunteered to assist me when they saw me struggling to move items. They were all kind, respectful and very helpful. I have been referring Cosmos to people for many years and everyone that I have referred has also been happy with their work. I am so grateful that I could schedule and have the new roof before rain comes.

Rich Cosmos, one of the co-owners of the company, promptly responded to my request for a bid. He was thoughtful and professional providing information that was very helpful in understanding what they would do and what was covered in the estimate. He mentioned that they would not know the extent of the wood damage until the roof was off but he was able to give me a likely estimate for the wood work needed, and it actually turned out to be less than he thought it would be! Rich has a team that are experts on tar and gravel. Several of the men have worked for him for over 20 years and the others are all dedicated, knowledgable, hard-working individuals. I was very happy to find a company that has done so much tar and gravel work because two other roofers that came to the house said I should use shingles. Shingles would have required that I cut back all the beams that extend from the roofline and this would have ruined one of the important architectural features of my 1925 bungalow. Rich prepared me well for the agreed upon start date. He brought by a box of plastic sheeting so I could cover some areas in a workspace under the roof that might get dust. When the work actually started his men placed protective covering on my deck and were careful to clean up as much as possible. The crew was very experienced and kept their work area tidy and organized. Each evening the material for the next day was organized and ready to go... It was very reassuring to see how efficient and well organized they were with every detail. Rich came by regularly to check progress on the work and to communicate with me. Basically Rich is an excellent communicator which makes it easy to know what to expect from beginning to end. I highly recommend Cosmos Roofing. They exceeded my expectations in every respect.

I want to give a shout out to Cosmos Roofing. I have a Mackay (Eichler style) house with a tar and gravel, low pitched roof that I wanted replaced. The two back corners of the roof were sagging and the roof was already 22 years old with no insulation. It baked in the summer and was freezing during the winter. I decided I wanted to install an energy efficient roof and fix the structural issues in the back. I talked to 6 different vendors and narrowed it down to two. Rich Cosmos, of Cosmos Roofing gave me the detail I wanted about the roofing materials and showed me samples. He also gave me the option for the number of inches of rigid foam insulation along with the R factor for the living area vs. the garage. I ended going with 4? of insulation on the living area of the house and 2? over the garage with a 4 Ply thermal white capsheet (so my total R factor was 25, up from 1). He also replaced the damaged wood and jacked up the two corners to make them structurally sound, installing new structural beams and fascia. Because of the 4 inches of insulation, the skylights were raised 4 inches as well as the chimney flashing. Plus, he installed new round downspouts, including additional ones to balance the water drainage. He also removed the old gutters and designed the corners and edges so the water would run down the downspouts instead of gathering at the corners. Out of all the vendors, Rich Cosmos gave the most complete proposal and references. The references were also long time customers that had several jobs done over the years. He was also very patient answering my detailed questions and was very responsive. I also liked the Cosmos Roofing has lots of installations in the area with the Cool Roof energy efficient Cap Sheet and provides a 20 year guarantee for roof repair for the labor and materials. Plus, that warranty is transferable to a new owner should you sell your house. The other roofing companies give only a 5 year warranty. The crew came on time, kept the area clean each day and did the work requested in the quote. Rich also stopped by and made sure at the beginning of the job and throughout that any questions I had were answered. He also obtained the city permits. The city inspector came out and it passed with flying colors. Afterwards, Rich addressed my ?punchlist? for any loose ends, which was done to my satisfaction. Cosmos Roofing also does shingled type roofing as well as Eichler/Mackay low-pitched roofing jobs and has two different crews to work on each one. They have been a family business for over 35 years and fully licensed, bonded and insured. I heartily recommend Cosmos roofing. I wanted to give an update on my Cool Roof that Cosmos Roofing had installed in April 2013. Now that summer is in full swing, I do notice a difference with the 4 inches of insulation. My house is much cooler in the summer and doesn't bake like an oven when I get home in the evening. Here's another plus for Cosmos: I had gotten new downspouts with the roof and found that one of them was condensing from the morning dew right next to my bedroom. The water droplets were created a constant high pitched metallic sound, causing me an unrestful sleep. I called Rich Cosmos and he sent one of his men out. They were able to change the bottom of the metallic downspout with a plastic elongated tube. The water no longer made that sound and the water is diverted away from my wall. Plus, it was no charge! Cosmos roofing really cares for their customers!

I contacted 5 companies and while they were not my first choice, they did a great job. I absolutley love my roof. This is the first time I've had to have a roof replaced and Alex was very accomodating and helpful. He answered all of my questions, and went above and beyond to help me out. Replacing a roof is a huge project and they had it completed in 3 days. The biggest portion was done in 2 days. I still find nails from the roof and my garage is still full of dirt and grim from the removal, but that was simply a lack of preperation. The reason they were not my first pick is because of their initial presentation. Working and living in Silicon Valley, I'm used to a high level presentation and never having worked with a contractor I think my expectations were to high. My first pick got upset with me because I had so many questions, so I decided to go with Cosmo and I don't regret it. I'd definitly recommend them as there service was inredible and I love the end result. Thank you.

We worked with Alex (owner) from Cosmos Roofing on the initial bid process. He was very professional and gave us all the details we needed to compare the bid to others, and make an educated decision. Then he provided a list of homes in our area that Cosmos had re-roofed so we could see examples of the different materials/colors, and make our final choices. Cosmos took care of the city permit, and provided plastic sheets we could use to cover all the stuff in our garage and attic. Once the project began, we worked with the supervisor, Jesus. He was very professional, and the crew showed up on time each morning. At the end of the day, they cleaned up all the debris around the house, so we didn't have to do anything. The bulk of the work was completed from start to finish in 3 days, and then 2 days later, the city inspector signed off on the project. A very quick and neat job. We'd highly recommend Cosmos Roofing!

The Cosmos crew showed up at the appointed hour, introduced themselves (always a high point with me) and got to work stripping my old roof under the supervision of Jesus (hay-seus). The crew was diligent and competent. I nearly always had a crew on my roof laying down underlayment and nailing shingles. The number of the crew varied according to the work being preformed but there were no stops in work while they started or worked on another roof. I was up on the roof every day and was happy with their work. Jesus was particularly helpful and accommodating. If I had another roof to do I would ask for him to supervise. Several changes to my roof needed to be made to conform to the construction code. The skylights needed to be raised and crickets needed to be placed on their upper sides. Also, a spark or inflammable screen needed to be placed above the chimney. These changes were made by Jesus who seemed to have the Palo Alto roofing code embedded in his DNA. I was particularly happy with the gutters. A Cosmos crew pulled up in the street in front of my house, measured the entire length of the fascia board and used a machine to form the gutters in one piece from a colored roll of aluminum. The color was a close match to the existing fascia board. A very professional job. I had installed my own roof 27 years ago and It was eye opening to watch a professional crew go efficiently about their work. A competent and efficient crew who installed my roof in a professional manner.

I asked several companies for bids. Cosmos was very responsive and professional. When I told them the bid was higher than I expected and I will go another route he became mean, abusive and insulting. Wouldn't repeat the experience, even he knew he went too far.

Our shake roof was removed and Cosmos replaced it with Presidential TL asphalt shingles which we are very happy with. Alex was easy to work with. He explained in detail what needed to be done so that it was easy for us to understand. Tearing off the old shakes could have been a very messy job, but they kept the debris and dust to a minimum and did an excellent job of cleaning up when the job was done. The crew was hard working and completed the job in a timely manner The neighbors have commented on how nice the new roof looks and how efficient the workers were. Cosmos was competitive in price with other contractors and we highly recommend them for any roofing needs.

The repair was done promptly and without a hitch. A thorough cleanup was done afterward. I received a phone call afterward describing what was done in detail, and with the assurance that should a leak reappear they would again respond quickly.

Rich Cosmos was consistently responsive, on time, communicated well and went above and beyond expectations for the new roof. He returned email and phone calls promptly, was accommodating and professional when we had a snag in getting the permit, and did additonal work on the gutters, to be sure they would function properly; without extra charge. Since we live at a distance to the property he worked on, he took photos for us and kept us up to date every step of the way. We give him the highest recommendation without reservation.

The owner came to the house and reviewed the problem. He made a recommendation to patch the leak and it was taken care of immediately. He called us after the big rain storm and ask how the roof was! I told him it did not leak since they patched it. Great follow up. Such care and concern for doing a good job. Amazing

We had Cosmos Roofing replace our roof on a home we sold and went to them again for our new home with a flat roof. They quoted us a price and worked very closely with us on installing, timing (around rain, electrical issues and installation of SolaTubes). The work done was professional, clean and timely. I would highly recommend Cosmos for any type of roof repair or replacement.

We decided to replace our 20 year old roof last Oct. and called a few companies (all have good reviews on yelp). Quote from Cosmos was competitive and Alex was professional and patient in answering all my questions. They offer 20 year warranty while the other companies only offer 10 year warranty. That was a big plus for me. It took them a little longer than expected to finish the work because the city inspection guy couldn't come. But it was not a big deal. The owner (I think he is Alex's father) came a few times to work with the crew and check their work. I guess that is part of their quality control. We had problem with rats in one area of the roof. After they removed old roof they found that insulation in the area (about 200 square feet) was all messed up. They removed and hauled away old insulation for us with no charge. After the job was done I didn't like the color they painted on some metal flash. They came back and repainted the next day. All in all, I'm very happy with their work.

We have contacted three different roofers and decided to go with Cosmos roofing, even though they were not the lowest bid. Alex is definitely a no-nonsense guy who clearly explained what Cosmos would do for us without hard-selling. He saved us a lot of trouble long term since he explained right away why tile roof wouldn't work for our house (BTW that would have been the most expensive options for us). We have received a list of local references which was very useful. With new shakes having arrived right around the holidays, and due to couple of rainy weeks, we have encountered a delay starting with the new roof, but were kept abreast of changes continuously. Cosmos crew did a great job on our new roof, which really looks beautiful! Everyone was very professional and courteous, we have not encountered any problems during the process. We would definitely recommend Cosmos roofing to our friends and neighbors.

We have a flat tar and gravel roof on our residence. We had an electrical upgrade performed, where the new conduit penetrated the existing roof. Rich of Cosmos came out several days before the electrical job was complete to see what needed to be done. He gave us a verbal quote and then billed us after the job was complete. We will definitely use Rich again, this summer, for an area of the roof that occasionally leaks in heavy rain. When it is time to re-roof, Cosmos will be at the head of the list for having this work done. Other neighbors of ours have spoken highly of their work as well and that they stand behind what they do.

I contacted 5 roofing companies from Angies List for estimates on replacing my 20 year old composite shingle roof, about 2000 sq ft. All 5 companies responded promptly with bids, and all bids were within 20% of each other. However while the costs were similar there were larger variations in how the sales people presented me with information and answered my questions. I had expressed an interest in energy efficient and solar reflective roofs. While there were only a couple of products available for energy efficiency, not all the companies gave me the same information about my house. They all agreed on the area of the roof, but I got 5 different numbers on the pitch of my roof, which surprised me as this is a simple geometric calculation. Three of the companies told me my roof was too flat for certain products and told me I'd either need to buy a more expensive underlay, or choose a more expensive roofing material. I measured my own roof pitch from photographs and narrowed the choice down to the 2 companies that agreed with my measurement. I chose Cosmos Roofing because they have been in business a long time and because they had replaced roofs on my type of house before. I have an American Housing Guild house which has a large central atrium with a low-sloped roof. Cosmos reroofed one of my neighbors houses which was identical to mine the month before and I got a glowing review from my neighbor. This sealed the deal. The re-roofing was trouble-free. The tear-off crew arrived promptly on the scheduled day. When I came home from work they had already begun installation of the new roof. The new roof was done by mid-afternoon on the second day. The clean-up crew did a great job too. The yard was free of debris. During the installation Alex, the co-owner, was in daily contact with me. Alex gave me the initial bid and his follow-up was good. He even offered me an earlier start date due to a cancellation, but I couldn't take it because we were on vacation. Overall I was delighted with the service I got from Cosmos Roofing and would recommend them to anyone.

I left my contact information on their website and Alex got back to me 2 hours later. He told me it would be 3/4 weeks before he could come and give me a bid. The delay was due to current workload. I decided to continue my search.

When my roof leaked, I called Cosmos and left a message. They responded soon after and came and did a temporary patch. I was leaving town so I left buckets under the leak "just in case.". A few days later, I received a call saying they could come and do a permanent patch that they would guarantee for two years and so I gave them the okay to go ahead. Since then it has rained and my roof has not leaked.

When we moved into our house 3 years ago we got quotes to redo our roof. Alex at Cosmos was the only honest roofer that told us that we could wait until we added the room extension on the house that we were planning (but wouldn?t be starting for a few years). This summer we finally started our project. Our general contractor gave us too high a bid on the roof so we called Cosmos. Alex not only gave us a fair price, they were able to work with our building schedule. We even asked them to tear off the old shingles a couple of weeks before installation so that we could redo our awnings. No problem. I think even our contractor was impressed with the roof. It looks great. They were very easy to work with and even let us make changes during installation. I definitely recommend Cosmos.

They did not bother to return a call for an estimate on a roof repair.

We did extensive research and we asked for estimates from several companies. We finally narrowed down our choices to 3 companies. After looking at several finished jobs from each company we decided to go with Cosmos. Their price was competitive (not the lowest), but we dealt with Alex who tipped the scale in their favor. He was professional, gave us a lot of information, respected our desire and did not try to push us in any direction. Alex recommended that we install a ridge vent for better ventilation and we are glad we did. Everybody we dealt with at Cosmos had a "can do" attitude, particularly Alex and his Foreman Jesus. Whatever we threw at Jesus his answer was always: ?No problem?. The whole project was completed in one week. The crew arrived on time, worked hard; particularly we had 2-3 days of hot weather where temperature was above 100 degrees. They replaced the gutters, the skylights and everything was completed on time. When we received their invoice there was no hidden charges. As a matter of fact, we bought a new solar fan and they installed it at no extra charge. We had a couple of minor issues after the initial job was completed and they came right out and fixed them. As an added bonus, their work comes with a transferable 20 years labor warranty. Our roof looks great! We are glad we chose Cosmos and we would highly recommend them to anyone.

Alex responded quickly and was on time with estimates. The tear off of our previous roof was done quickly and with excellent clean-up. The new cedar shake roof was done with an experienced team in which we had utmost confidence. The day after the completion, we had our first rain of the season, accompanied by thunder and lightening! We were thrilled to be dry and snug. We recommend Cosmos roofing without hesitation.
