We had an entirely positive experience with Cosmos Roofing. The price was competitive and the customer service was excellent. They took care of the permits and everything, and the work was done promptly, professionally and on time. I would definitely use them again in the future and I'm happy to recommend them to anyone.

This is another good example of a service provider that says their service area is San Mateo county but will not come to the coastal communities of El Granada. also - We talked to one employee and asked if they would give us an estimate and they said they would get back to us but we didn't hear back for several days. We called several more times and left a couple more emails only to finally get a response via email that said they do not come to our neighborhood. Gee wouldn't that have been nice to hear during our first phone contact??

Everything went extremely well! We had a shake roof that would not have made it through another rainy season. Alex from Cosmos was up against about 4 other bids from companies that also had amazing yelp reviews. My parents used Cosmos for their roof in the past, and love their roof, but insisted I get bids from other companies just to make sure I do my due diligence as this is my first home. Cosmos was very competitive with the other companies, and in my opinion offered more in terms of service and coverage compared to the other companies. Most important was my main point of contact, Alex. He always answered the phone whenever I had questions, dropped off samples on the same day I requested them, and made me feel at ease.Cosmos offers all the same materials as the other companies, but it's the workmanship that counts the most. They do beautiful work, and I can't recommend them highly enough!

Alex was very honest about the condition of our roof and informed us that a tune up of our asphalt single roof would not do much to extend the life of our roof. He showed me specific areas of the roof that were wearing off quicker because of weather conditions. I appreciated his honesty telling us to wait till the roof would need actual replacement instead of spending money on a repair that would not actually improve the condition of our roof. Personally I felt that Cosmos roofing was looking after their customers and showed that they care about your roof and not about the money. I would definitely use and recommend Cosmos roofing in the future when repairs or replacement are needed.

We got 4 bids to do the roof on our house and we chose Cosmos Roofing. The bid was reasonable compare to others with comparable options. The communication with Alex was very good by phone and email before they started. The crew did an excellent job and completed the work within the expected time. They covered inside the garage and cleaned up the after finishing all the debris. I recommend Cosmos Roofing or at least consider getting a bid from them.

We had Cosmos install our roof for our old house and they did a fantastic job. So when we got a new house I called them up for the new roof installation. Alex was great as usual and helped set up not only a good time to get the roof done but also helped me find a good contractor to remove and re-install our pool solar heating panels. The installation went smoothly and they even provided sheeting to protect items in our garage (the old roof was a type of concrete that was very messy to remove). The only issue that came up was one of the gutters was damaged a bit during the roof removal but Alex sent someone out to fix it as soon as we found out. Would definitely use them again.

My dad's roof was just replaced by Cosmos last week. The roof that was replaced was actually done by Cosmos as well more than 25 years ago. The pricing from Cosmos is slightly better than the other quote we got and it comes with a 20 year guarantee! As far as I know, no other company offers the 20 year guarantee. We are extremely pleased with the whole process (from obtaining the quote, to starting the job within 2 weeks, to the clean up about the work was completed). Alex who came to the house to do the estimate responded to my emails and phone calls promptly. My family will not hesitate to use Cosmos for all of our roofing needs again in the future.

Hired them to reroof a Menlo Park house that had two layers of original roof. The job site was kept very neat and clean throughout the job. They arrived right on time and had a large enough crew to finish on time. They kept me in the loop on extra work that was needed to repair termite damaged wood that they discovered. I am really happy that this was found. The final product looks great. We also had new gutters and downspouts done and they took care to match the paint color with the downspouts, something I did not expect. I used Cosmos many years ago on our first house, and I can confirm that their quality is just as good, if not better than it was in the mid 80's. All the way around, a professional organization that I would recommend. And to top it off, pricing was very competitive.

We are very happy with our new cedar shake roof from Cosmos and would highly recommend getting a bid from them. Their bid was competitive, and their workmanship outstanding. Cosmos did exactly what they said they would do, on time and on budget. Additionally, Alex, who came out to give the bid was very responsive via email and phone to all my questions. His father managed the work at our house and was also very responsive. All workers were professional and it seemed Alex really cared about the job quality. The only issue that they could have done a slightly better at was laying out plastic in our garage to catch the old roof debris and cleaning at the completion of the project. It was a mess to remove the old wood shake but at our request, they gladly came back to clean up. We are very happy with our beautiful new roof and gutter and overall we highly recommend Cosmos Roofing.

Cosmos was very easy to work with, from the quote to scheduling and roofing installation, they made it easy for us. I received a few other quotes for the job and Cosmos provided the best value. Alex, the co-owner answered all of my questions and made it clear what about the process and materials. I really liked that he didn't try to up-sell me during the process. They started to work on the day agreed upon. They found a few issues, which I excepted, with the house and made repairs a very nominal costs. The work went smoothly. After the roof was installed the clean-up was good. The new roof looks great. I would definitely use Cosmos Roofing again.

Alex (co-owner) was quick to respond to my bid request. Was very accommodating when scheduling the initial inspection and bid. Explained all the options. We then exchanged a few emails, set a date to begin work. Alex called to make sure we were happy with the color when the shingles were started. All the installers were very professional. They did a good job of cleaning up. From my first phone call to job completion, the entire process took under 10 days.

Cosmos Roofing replaced my old roof recently. The owner, Alex, inspected the roof both outside and inside carefully. He recommended the roof rafters were in good condition and could avoid some unnecessary replacements. He also showed me samples and helped to pick the material that matched the property and the neighborhood. He gave a quite reasonable quote comparing to other bids I had. The crews are also very friendly and thoughtful. They gave me suggestion and explained to me why. They were not trying to sell something. Instead, the solutions were practical and free. I replaced my wood shake roof (vintage 1959) with a new composite shingle roof (Certainteed Presidential Shake TL), as well as radiant OSB and synthetic underlayment and replacement of all gutters and downspouts. Cosmos had been recommended to me by a friend who has been a contractor in the area for 25 years. I got several bids for the job, and selected Cosmos based on their reputation (including here on Angie's List), selection of materials (I wanted something that looked nice, given that I was sad about moving away from wood shake), price, ease and responsiveness, and of course this recommendation. Alex (one of the owners of Cosmos) was extremely easy to work with. He answered or returned by calls promptly, showed up quickly for an appointment, came with a (fair and competitive) bid quickly, and once I had decided to go with Cosmos, got me on the schedule quickly and in a way that could be coordinated with my installer for solar panels. Once the job started, inevitably we ended up with rain in the forecast and this is when Cosmos became really impressive. They accelerated the work to get the entire job done in less than three days, all the way from tear-down to clean up (with the solar company coming in there in the middle and installing the posts for the panels). The Cosmos crew also cleaned up everything very well after the job, including in the attic and in the garage. The new roof is beautiful. and I am very happy with every aspect of working with Cosmos. In terms of pricing, they were very competitive as well, beating a large chain roofer as well as another local company with their bid. And they were fast - getting the bid, getting the contract signed (including responding on a Saturday night), getting on the schedule, and then doing the job and cleaning up and getting city permit sign-off. I would recommend them highly.

In November, tenants in my mom?s Greenmeadow Eichler in Palo Alto gave notice they would be leaving December 6th. They advised of several leaks that started with the most recent rainstorm. The 1998 roof was the traditional tar and gravel common to the original 1954 two elevation, flat roofed Eichlers. After asking neighbors, reviewing online blogs, and comparing estimates, I went with Cosmos Roofing. Their bid was not only the lowest (by $1500), it carried a guarantee for 20 years, and with the newer Johns Manville KOOL ROOF Thermal White GlasKap Membrane, I would also receive a $500 federal tax credit. Some time in the late 1970?s my parents had replaced the in-floor radiant heating with the roof-mounted system developed by Lipp Hydronics. When Lipp confirmed that Cosmos Roofing had a good reputation and did quality work, I contacted Rich Cosmos (owner of Cosmos Roofing) and signed the contract. We needed 4-5 days of clear weather to do the job. Because of the on-top-of-the-roof hydronics system, an extra day at the beginning and another at the end of the roofing process would be needed for Lipp to remove and then reinstall the pipes. The house would be without any heat during the major cold spell we experienced during the beginning of December. Finishing before new tenants moved in was imperative. Rich Cosmos called with daily weather updates as we approached our tenant move-out day. He also kept me apprised of the status of city permits and inspections. We lucked out with the weather. Lipp removed the pipes on Sunday Dec 8th. Rich showed up with his crew first thing Monday morning Dec 9th. While Rich visited our house daily, he also had an onsite foreman overseeing the work. His entire crew was polite, professional, and extremely hard working! Monday afternoon, my husband and I went up on the roof with Rich to discuss the areas with rotted and termite infected wood. At very reasonable cost, (about $1500) we opted to have his crew purchase and replace about 90 ft of ceiling boards and 30 feet of 2x4 segments; installed 2 new insulated skylights; and installed 5 pre-painted downspouts. The boards were primed and efficiently installed without any delay to the schedule. With the discovery of significant numbers of termites, tenting became our best option. We wanted to complete that before new tenants moved in Monday December 16th. Now, with an even tighter timeline, Rich stayed available by cell phone and regularly updated me on their progress. His crew put forth extra effort so that they could complete the job by Thursday afternoon, Dec 12th. The tent went up Friday AM and was removed Monday AM. Lipp then reconnected the heating pipes; and my tenants moved in that afternoon. Every step of the roofing process was perfectly orchestrated and performed by Cosmos Roofing. For note, my husband co-owned a small construction company about 15 years ago. He, too, was thoroughly impressed with Rich, his crew, and with the quality of their workmanship. We highly recommend them and have no hesitations giving a solid A rating. And, as a bonus, you will meet delightful, hard-working, caring professionals who do a great job.

Alex gave us an estimate and was very professional and informative. The work crew showed up on time, were very polite, and cleaned up each day. Work was completed on schedule and we are very satisfied with the high quality of the workmanship. These people were easy to work with and responded to our questions in a timely manner. We would definitely recommend this company.

I had received a couple of bids and had an idea of what the price range would be. When Rich from Cosmos roofing came out to meet me early one morning, he explained exactly what my options were and answered any questions I had. I instantly felt comfortable with Rich and was confident that I was working with a professional with a lot of experience. Another selling point for me is the 20 year warranty that can be transferred if I sell my home. Rich kept in contact before, throughout and after the process. Once the work was scheduled, everything went according to plan. The crew even worked on a Saturday as it was during the holidays and the supply store would be closed Tuesday and they didn't want to lose a day or two in case they needed additional supplies. Work was done Thurs-Saturday, as well as the following Monday. The roof looks great and I am happy that I worked with Cosmos Roofing.

Cosmos did an outstanding job installing a new shake roof on our craftsman home. The cedar shake could not be more beautiful, and the quality of the workmanship is superb. Nor was it an easy job: Our entire 3600-square-foot roof has a relatively steep 33 degree pitch; the job was done during the winter, when frost made access more difficult; and the work had to be coordinated around installation of new solar panels. Everything was done professionally and courteously, and clean-up was never an issue. The 20-year guarantee is unmatched by any other roofer we contacted, and we could not have gotten a better value for the money. Highly recommend!

I asked for an estimate for reroofing my home. A gentleman came over, seemed very professional and knowledgeable. I was expecting an estimate, but never received one. I figured he did not want the job and did not contact him further.

Replaced |roof and gutters. Would have given A as overall, but had put wrong color gutters on house. However this was fixed the next day after talked to one of the owners who apologized and was very responsive.

We have not had a rain yet, but all looks good. We kept in contact via texting, he arrived on time, and made the time which I was very grateful for in being a past customer. Alex was very responsive!

It went very well. They were prompt and did exactly what they promised. The price was very fair and they were very responsive to the questions and problems I had.

We got a quote from Cosmos to replace our flat tar and gravel roof several months prior which was very comprehensive and priced competitively. We did not act on the project for several more months but when we got back to the project, Cosmos honored our original quote and worked with us to coordinate a skylight installer, downspout replacements and the whole roof project. The roofing job took 3 days from start to completion with another afternoon a few days later for downspout replacement. The skylight work was done earlier in the week prior to the roof starting. All of the contractors communicated well with one another and were very prompt and efficient. We felt everyone was easy to work with. I only marked responsiveness down slightly because in the scheduling stages I was not getting quick responses via email from Cosmos and had to rely on the skylight contractor to also communicate with them to ensure our schedule was going to work. Cosmos also provided us with material to drape in our house to help contain the grit which would inevitably fall through the roof (and boy did it ever!). Don't skip this part of the process. Especially if you have a flat wood roof (Eichler style) with tar and gravel. You can't imagine how much grit and dust falls through.

Everything went great. The bid was helpful and informed. They asked the most complete questions and prepared the most complete estimate of the roofers we worked with. They provided helpful advice on our choice of new roofing and pointed us to other installations they had done. They did the most complete review of what we already had in place. We were well informed about the dates and process, including talking us through a slight delay because of equipment troubles. The crew was courteous and talked us through all the steps. The clean up was thorough. From what we could tell the quality of the work was good. We would recommend them and gladly work with them again.

We called several roofing companies who gave us their opinions as to what material we should use to replace our roof. Prices quoted varied within a few thousand dollars, but the most significant factor in choosing Cosmos was their guarantee, their transfer of guarantee to a new owner, their thorough inspection of the roof before beginning work and the fact they have been in business since 1975. The crew was knowledgeable, worked hard, and finished in four days. There was a great deal of dry rot which was efficiently replaced. New downspouts were added and placed after Rich and his foreman determined the best place to install them. We highly recommend this company because of their professionalism and knowledge.

We have a McKay home. We interviewed a couple of roofers. We hired Rich because of his extensive knowledge and experience with flat roof. He is the expert who knows what would be the best for our roof. Rich installed a new Johns Manville GlasKap roof and 4" rigid insulation over the living and garage area in late August. We, especially my kids, immediately noticed the difference and enjoyed the very cool temperature inside the house, compared to the temperature outside the house. We are very pleased with the quality of Rich's work. Rich is professional and very responsive to our questions or concerns, with clear answers and creative solutions. We also love that Rich describes his work plan in detail so we understand and know what to expect. He and his team is very efficient and always on time; the job site remains very clean after they are done. During our other remodeling, we noticed a place (not roof, but near roof) that will need to be fixed; I asked Rich since he is so knowledgeable about Eichler and McKay homes. Rich was very kind and took time to investigate the issue. He sent one of his guys on the same day to fix it for us, and free of charge! I highly recommend Rich and Cosmos Roofing!
