Response from Cal Preserving
Hi [member name removed], I understand your perspective and I am sorry if you feel disappointed. This is not how we want our customers (or potential customers) to feel. Your deck, however, was 50% bigger than what Angie’s List Coupon was for (up to 200 sq. ft. deck) and it also had an old stain present that would require a much more difficult process of removing it (and possibly even sanding). All of this is spelled out in the coupon and its fine print. As far as being “focused on a big project”, when we come to take a look & measure everything to prepare an estimate and evaluation, we try to look at everything we can help you with, but the final call, of course, belongs to you. We do try to, and always will, advise potential customers of everything that is a good idea to address. Yes, of course, we like bigger projects, but mainly we try to give good advice. We are very conscientious about price and providing value while advocating for our customers, potential customers, and their money. In any case I apologize if my estimator seemed like he was trying to sell you a big job. No matter what, you have a lot of wood and it is in need of our services if you want to avoid having to replace it all. So this is why we provide a thorough evaluation, recommendations and line item each piece with its price. With all of this in mind You should have no problems returning the coupon if that is what you would like to do. My advice about Angie’s List is to use it as resources for contractors as it is a fine service for that but avoid trying to use it like Groupon as the deals are very specific and for sure everyone will be trying to up sell you as most of us will lose money if you only purchase and do the work for the coupon alone. Sincerely, Cal Preserving
