Sorry, this is long, but I wanted to give all the facts.I first visited Stollmeyer's Lighting at their Morro Bay store the first week in November, 2012. I talked with Corey Stollmeyer (son of owner, Ken Stollmeyer). I was interested in purchasing a chandelier for a new home. He showed me their website, which offered a larger selection and assured me they would "work with me" on the prices. Within a few days, I found a chandelier on another website and contacted Stollmeyer's to see if they would match the Internet prices.I went in to their San Luis Obispo store on November 13, 2012 with my chandelier of choice info. Corey said they would meet the Internet price, but would have to charge me sales tax. I also was interested in a large ceiling fan. I told Corey we were closing escrow the end of November and I would need the chandelier and fan delivered and installed the second week of December, 2012. I told him we had high ceilings (14' in the entryway and 18' in the family room). He said they usually didn't do installations, but he would be able to do both, no problem, when he made the delivery for $120. I paid for the chandelier, the fan and the installation, $1434.50.I contacted Corey the end of November reminding him I needed installation the second week in December. I said the house was getting painted and I would let him know when it was done. He said no problem. I contacted Corey on December 12, 2012 to schedule the installation. He replied he would find a day and get back to me. When I didn't hear back, I contacted him again on December 14th and December 15th. He responded on December 17th, told me he could do it either the 20th or the 22nd. I told him the earlier the better, the 20th would work for me. He said OK, he could fit me in at 11:00 am and that he would call me. He didn't call. He didnt show. I called him several times, no response. I texted, no response. I called the store and Ken said he didn't know where Corey was, that he had not been able to reach Corey and for me to call him back if I heard from Corey. Finally heard from Corey late in the day saying he wasn't able to make it that day (no kidding) and would be there Saturday, December 22nd at 2:00 pm. He called at 1:30 pm and said it was raining in San Luis Obispo so he couldn't make the delivery. He made one last promise of coming at 11:00 on Monday, December 24th. Didn's show, didn't call, didn't answer phone or texts, nothing.I left him a voicemail message, sent him a text, and emailed him (with a copy to his father, Ken), telling them I was done trying to work with them and wanted a refund. On the 27th of December, I got an email from Corey saying he was sorry, it was all his fault, etc. and wanted to make this work. He said he couldn't do the installation, but would refund the $120. I said thanks for the apology, but no, I was done and just wanted a total refund as soon as possible. He said OK.Heard nothing so I tried to contact Corey January 2, 2013, got no response. I called Ken on January 3rd. I stated my name and said I was calling about my refund. In a raised voice, he immediately started telling me there would be no refund, I was mean to his son who was only trying to be nice to me to make the sale. He said I intimidated Corey into selling me the items at Internet prices and had him agree to the installation, even though Stollmeyer's did not do installations. He would not let me respond. He said I had one of two choices...I could have the products delivered that day, no installation, or be charged a 30% restocking fee. I reluctantly agreed to have the items delivered. When Corey came to deliver them, I requested he open the box the chandelier was in to make sure everything was OK...it was not. Over half of the crystals were broken. I told Corey to take it back and that I now I insisted on a refund. He said OK.Got no refund so tried to contact Corey again on January 9, 2013. He said he was working on the refund. When I hadn't heard anything by January 16th I sent another email to Corey (with copy to Ken). No response. My husband decided to visit their store. Both Corey and Ken were there. My husband explained my frustration and Ken said yes, maybe he was a little h****** me, that Corey was just trying to be nice. My husband stated they had over-sold and under-delivered. Ken and Corey were both very cordial to my husband. Disturbingly, Ken said he didn't realize "there was a Mr. Angus in the picture" and, had he contacted them sooner "perhaps we could have handled this sooner". We received a full refund, but I strongly encourage people NOT to do business with these people. Very unprofessional and very disrespectful.

Description of Work: I find it odd you want reviews on this company when I witnessed the terrible treatment of a friend of mine by the owner of this business. I told her she needed to write a review of this company as I was in total shock at what I witnessed. She did but apparently you decided not to publish it which makes me wonder how much you all decide what to print and what not to. WE PAY FOR YOUR SERVICE BUT YOU ARE NOT PUBLISHING EVERYTHING THAT IS WRITTEN, hindering those of us who wish to read everything about a company before we hire A PARTICULAR COMPANY. Am now rethinking my membership with you!
