I dealt with Jerry who was very professional, helpful and responded quickly to my questions. We had a few odd situations they had to deal with and they came up with great solutions. I had bids from 3 others and Foothill had the best price. additionally jerry personality was much better then the others.

I researched companies that do fencing on Angie's List. I called to make an appointment with this company because they have positive reviews on Angie's List. I waited several days, but they did not return my call. I left the same message with several companies, so if they say they have no record of me calling I would question that. I said my name slowly and clearly and got no response from the company.

They did great work, on time and on budget.

Very pleased with price and finished product. I had to make a few adjustments, but they were responsive and corrected as I requested. One issue that I didn't bring to their attention is that two sprinkler heads were damaged in the process. However, since I had planned to replace them anyway, I didn't make it an issue with the company. Darren was very responsive and I have no doubt the repairs would have been made had I requested them. I did have to call and request the warranty information, but Darren got it in the mail immediately.

The Foothill Fence folks were friendly, prompt, professional and courteous. Their pricing was good and they answered questions patiently.

The job went very well. Darren is a very easy going guy who really brings with him the confidence and calmness of someone who has been doing this kind of work for years. My project was a little complicated in that it involved my neighbor which entailed producing two invoices; one for the less expensive fence my neighbor was willing to share the cost on, a second that represented the cost of the nicer fence that I wanted and a third that accounted for some changes made mid job. It got a little confusing for both of us. I would recommend having a photo of the exact fence and gate you expect to be built so there is no confusion. The guys who built the fence were excellent. Like Darren they were easy going guys, were respectful of our property, kept a low profile and worked diligently. They were done in two days. Most impressive was Foothill/Darren's response to a problem with the gate that occurred a week or so after installation. Cracks appeared in the board that the hinges were screwed into. They responded immediately and had the issue remedied within a day. Excellent customer service.

Foothill Fencing provided an estimate for vinyl fencing between neighbor's house and my rental property to match other fence on property, plus a wrought iron gate across driveway. They did all work as stated and in a timely fashion. And accepted Angie's List Coupon.

I made a call to Foothill Fence on Friday January 11th in the afternoon. They were just finished with a job and so an estimator was able to see me that afternoon. I had talked about what I wanted over the phone and was given an estimate over the phone first of $900 if I wanted both gates done. I was told that the estimate would be free. The estimator came out on time that afternoon and was nice in appearance and friendly. He measured the two gates and asked questions on how I would like them to appear. He said if l liked, they could start the job on Monday morning and finish around noon. I was happy with everything so far so he made up a contract. No money was asked up front and he said that I could pay with a check at the completion of the job. On Monday, they showed up around 8 am and were finished around noon. The gates are sturdy and well constructed. We talked about the care of the redwood and how to use a water sealer. The cost included all the hardware, clean up, and hauling away the old gates. They did a great job and I am very happy with my new gates.

Workers were prompt and fast. We are very happy with the results. This is the second time we've used Foothill.

[Updated March 2013] Initially everything went well from getting an estimate to scheduling and completing the work. The gentleman who gave us the estimate arrived with 2 workers and supervised the work. It took 5 days total. They started on a Thursday and finished the following Wednesday. We were not there most of the time, but did stop by during lunch the first couple days. Things went smoothly. The fences looked good and we were happy. About a week or so later the gate started to stick, so we shaved it with a plane. Everything was good until a month later when we had the first rain storm. Actually it rained for 4 days off and on. That's when we noticed some of the tongue and groove boards in the 6' h sections had buckled out into a "V" (at least 7 places.) In addition another 2' section completely bowed out like a big round pot belly. Mortified, we called the supervisor on Saturday, December 1st and left a voice message. When we didn't hear back after several days, we called the owner Carl who said that project supervisor was no longer working for him and had only been helping temporarily while things were really busy. Carl sent another supervisor to look at the fence who said the warping sometimes happens when it rains before the wood has a chance to fully dry out and it didn't help that the fence is mostly shaded by the house. He also said the boards were installed too close together, so he would have to remove some. While waiting for the weather to clear up and the fence to dry out, the gate came loose at the hinges and we couldn't use it. We replaced the short 3/4" screws with longer 2 1/2" screws. When good weather finally coordinated with their schedule two guys came and removed and replaced the buckled and bowed boards and added a lot more nails to hold the boards in place. Now after a couple of months and several rainy days, the fence boards have stayed in place so yes we are happy with the fence. However, our gate is still difficult to close because it sticks and they didn't install a handle on the back side to pull it closed. We have to grab a cross board to pull it shut. They used a bolt latch with a pull cable installed above eye level instead of typical thumb latch gate handles. When I asked about this, the response was the handles are thin and easily bent. They did install a keyed bolt lock, but it has an antiqued bronze finish while the bolt latch and hinges are black as requested. So we plan to replace the awkward cabled bolt latch and bronze lock with a locking handle set. A good example of why it's so important to spend a lot of time discussing every detail before the work begins.

He built a beautiful fence. He was totally accommodating and I was very pleased with the project. The fence is standing up very well. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

The service went great. They did a beautiful job and did exactly what we needed at a decent price. I appreciated how they showed up on time and were able to get the job done quickly and efficiently. We needed the work to be done by a specific date, and they were able to make it happen. I was so pleased with the service that I am going to have them come out and do some additional work when the time is right.

Originally intended to go with redwood, but after conversation about the quality of the wood today versus even 25 years ago, and the fact the fence would be exposed on a twice-daily basis by automatic sprinklers by the adjoining property, I decided to go with vinyl. The contractor did not try to promote any certain kind of fence or products. But we had an interesting conversation about the quality of redwood today versus even 25 years ago and how the trees are harvested so much quicker and younger now. He mentioned vinyl, which at first I didn't even want to consider, but I saw a photograph in his sample book and chose that for my fence. The contractor said it would take two days to complete the project. It actually took a full day and about half of the second day. I would definitely use this company again, as well as highly recommend them.

I was very happy with my experience with Foothill Fence. Carl, the owner, came on time for our appointment. He was very clear and helpful in picking out the type of fence and gates that would work best for me. He sent me an estimate the next day that I thought was very reasonable for the amount of work being done. He couldn't start the work for 3 weeks because he was so busy but that was okay with me. Carl got in touch with me the week before the work was going to begin. They started the work on a Monday and finished on Thursday. They came in on budget and the fence and gates look great. Carl's foreman, Ron, did a great job of explaining everything to me each morning before they began the work. I'm very happy with the work they did.

They showed up on time and did the work quickly and efficiently. They removed all the debris and cleaned and swept afterwards as well. The fence looks great.

Carl came when promised to look at the area. As promised, he emailed me a quote in a few days. It was very reasonable. He told me that he could not do the work for a few weeks but that was fine. Busy is good! A few days before coming, he called to let me know. His guys were a bit late, but they called and explained the problem. It is a beautiful gate, just as I asked completed in a day. I could not be happier.

Having read overall great reviews on Angie's List, I contacted Foothill Fence Co. Jerry turned up on time & we discussed building a new fence along one side of our new house. I received the estimate via email a day or so later. I was happy with the price, but above that, I trusted Jerry & knew that he would do a great job. We scheduled the work to begin ASAP, which was about 1.5 weeks away. Jerry's crew turned up on time on the agreed day, & Jerry arrived shortly afterwards. We discussed again what was to be built, finalizing heights, & they got to work. I had decided to put in a new gate along one side of the house, but was undecided about the other side. I called Jerry to discuss, & he always returned my calls promptly & offered honest advice. During the project I decided I needed further work done. I was on a deadline as I had family coming to visit & really wanted it all done before they arrived. Jerry understood this, & managed to coordinate so that both my projects were done in the same week. I'd had a large hedge removed from the backyard, which had taken away most of my privacy. What remained was a concrete fence with gaps between 6 bollards. I'd recently seen an episode of 'Design Star' where they'd had a similar fence & had built wooden railings between the bollards. It looked good. I discussed it with Jerry, & we spent one time working out the best look. I'm delighted with the results. I also had another smaller fence built along the opposite side of my backyard. Jerry's crew accidentally put this in with my side being the side which should have been outfacing. I called Jerry, & he instructed his crew to fix it. They ran out of boards, & I was a bit unhappy with some of the boards they used. Jerry came by to see, & he fixed the problem. I'm delighted with my new fences & gate, & thoroughly recommend this company.

21/2 days and finished. The gates [measuring and custom fitting] added a half day. Everything went as advertised. We were satisfied, and paid upon completion. I paid slightly more than half since I had a few more feet of fence on my property [and a slightly larger gate] than my neighbor.

Carl was always great. He did everything at a very reasonable cost. He's a very honest guy and he did the job in a timely manner.

Foothill Fence built a double gate with side panel fencing for my home, and the end result was exactly as I had hoped. The design I requested has horizontal placement of the boards, which with four different sections can be very challenging to accomplish neatly and evenly. This type of wood fence / gate design requires some real carpentry skill, vs. "standard" gate building. At first there was a small glitch with the line-up being a bit off kilter, but Carl (the owner) came back the very next day to take a look, and immediately arranged for his crew to return and adjust the issue. I now have a well built, modern looking fence / gate that I am completely happy with. Carl and his crew were very professional and courteous, showed up as scheduled, cleaned up all debris, and have great customer service. I highly recommend Foothill Fence.

Carl arrived exactly on time and provided a competitive estimate along with very useful advice regarding placement and the selection of materials. His crew returned a week later to install the handrails. The crew was efficient, neat in their workmanship and skillfully handled the core drilling needed for two of the rails. The rest of rails were set in concrete. A great job all around.

The price was the best. But decided to go with the first company who respond.

I was pleased with their work and I would use them again in the future.

Carl was the fastest to respond to my call and also had the best quote. He's very friendly and informative, and the work crew and foreman (Lorenzo, if I recall correctly) were great -- punctual, efficient, and polite. They were also very communicative with our neighbors and minimized any inconvenience to them. The job was done on time and on price. It looks beautiful and is very sturdy -- in the recent high winds it barely seemed to flinch. When my wife asked them to set aside some of the best planks from the old fence for some tables she wanted to make, they were very accommodating. No problems at all!
