After we contracted with a professional mold remediation company to do the demolition and removal of all mold, we then needed someone to replace all of the cabinetry, wall board and kitchen equipment that was removed by the mold remediation company and painting, etc. We contacted our original cabinet maker who did an excellent job remodeling our kitchen about 20 years ago. He had retired, but referred us to his son, Kevin, who is carrying on the tradition as Mapleworks (Kevin and son team). We liked that we were working with three generations of cabinet makers and didn't look any further for bids and signed up with Mapleworks on a time and material basis. Kevin's initial estimate was $3,000 to $4,000 including much of the add-on wood working that we envisioned beyond the kitchen cabinetry in the rest of the house. He couldn't give us a fixed price estimate because of the amount and complexity of the cabinet repair/replacement needed. I was a little worried about a time and material job but it turned out that Kevin was very trustworthy and came in towards the low end of the original estimate at $3,250. Mapleworks portion of the work took about 4 weeks. Our job was squeezed in with one of Kevin's bigger jobs - which we understood would extend our job somewhat. And, after seeing his work on the kitchen, we committed to all the additional bead board and molding work in the rest of the house that we originally scoped out. Kevin knows a lot of other contractors and his referred contractors were very responsive and did excellent work at reasonable prices. We got much more done than just a cabinet maker - almost general contracting class of work and schedule with independent contractors. Everything was done as we expected and I was pleasantly surprised with the total cost at the high level of quality by everyone.. Kevin's woodworking skills are exceptional and the interior of the house took on a whole new look - amazing transformation.

Kevin Lambright, owner of Kevin's Custom Cabinets in Montclair, Southern California, (formerly Mapleworks Remodeling) is talented, professional, and great to do business with. He is easy and trustworthy to work with (unlike other contractors I had). He's upfront, honest, and patiently explains materials, processes, options, etc. He was a breath of fresh air. He is a general contractor (come to find out) so he is very knowledgeable about construction in general which was a great help in getting my kitchen and both bathrooms completely corrected... thanks to his fine attention to detail. Kevin's kitchen design was excellent as well. He installed two large lazy Susan's in my small kitchen. (A major Home Retail store had told me I couldn't have even one lazy Susan because my kitchen was too small. It was a designer of this major chain store that told me this. The cabinets Kevin built are beautiful. They are truly hand crafted. He uses high quality materials and works in a very organized manner. I had gotten estimates from two large home improvement retail stores as well as some independent cabinet makers and Kevin's prices were very competitive and ultimately much better because he stayed true to his estimate. At the end of the job, I got a lot for my money because Kevin does not leave anything undone and his materials are so good. He gave my job the time needed for it to be just right. (unlike friends I have that the "installer" threw their cabinets up and said bye-bye. Any problems call the main office...) Kevin does the work himself with a crew assisting him. His temperament is very easy going and reliable. He always let me know what his timing was. I felt considered and truly valued as a customer. Mapleworks Remodeling was great! They're very reasonable and the cabinet maker has been in this business for 25 years or so and has been a general contractor for as many years as his dad. He's a very nice man.

It went very smoothly. He was wonderful about working with me to give me exactly what I wanted. He made some suggestions and had some ideas I had not thought of, or did not know about like the LED lighting. There were certain processing periods (paint drying, etc ) but no problems that were not fixed quickly and virtually unnoticeably. Plastic was hung to protect the rest of the house from dust. We were without a kitchen for a couple of weeks but managed with a microwave and water from the bathroom. It was a minor inconvenience at most.
