Our contract was signed on April 10th--work to begin on April 27th, completion May 10th. We had to call to inquire if they were coming out on April 27th. They did show up and demolitioned my pool on April 27th. Now, I have an enormous empty pool which poses an EXTREMELY dangerous situation. I called and inquired on both Thursday, Friday, and today about when they will be coming out to begin actual remodeling. I rec'd a phone message late today informing me that Luis will have to come out sometime this week to measure and order the coping. Was told that NOTHING is on the schedule for this week, MAYBE next week. Really??? With 3 small dogs that are now confined to an indoor crate ALL day for who knows how long, and 2 young grandchildren(ages 4 years old and 6 years old)--this poses an EXTREMELY dangerous and unnerving situation. This is an EXTREME safety hazard to both humans and animals. Why perform demolition when the measurements hadn't been taken, the coping and tile ordered??? This is RIDICULOUS! This is extremely stressful and no consumer should have to endure. Definitely DO NOT hire Keff Kerber Pool Plastering, Inc!!!

They did an excellent and a professional job. They were clean, courteous, on time and did a fantastic job. I was surprised with the price as it was less than what I thought it was going to be.
Description of Work: I used Jeff Kerber Pool Plastering & Remodeling to re plaster our pool. They tore it all down; all the granite and re plastered and put on whole new tiles and light.

I interviewed quite a few companies and it wasn't the price that turned me off it was the sales person who came out. When the Rep from Jeff Kerber Pools came out, he was extremely warm and friendly. Told him I wanted the pool to have a beach entrance and I wanted the plaster to look like a beach not the typical Pool Blue. I needed new decking in Pavers, the rest I wanted colored concrete, new patio deck, electrical and new drains. After more interviews with other companies I decided to go with Jeff Kerber pools. Once you sign on the dotted line, that is when my problems started and could no longer get the sales rep to call me back. The first day (I was home alone and not told) about 15 men showed up to start demo. Then about an hour into it a man knocked on my door and said where is the porta potty. I said what? He looked green in the face begged me to use my restroom. I couldn't say no so I let him in. To be blunt he left the most god awful smell in my bathroom, the workers left their water bottle, lunch bags all over the property. To make a long story short, The concerte I ordered was a dark brown, when they poured the stairs only and it dried it was a awful Salmon color. After many calls a rep came out and said oh that is the color it is. I said no its not I showed him the sample color I picked, nothing like it at all. Anyway the pavers were put down and within a month the pavers by the foundation were pulling up. I picked another color for the walkways for the concrete and again after it dried the awful salmon color, nothing they could do. Oh by the way within one week the concrete cracked. Of course nothing they can do. The worst was the pool. When they poured the cement and were smoothing it out they were making these swirls and I said no that's ugly and they said that is how we do it. I complained but they said we have to put the water in because the cement will crack and we are not responsible, so even though I protested and tried to call the company and got voice mail they turned the water on and left. The pool looked horrible. Called them out 3 times because the pool cement cracked and looked ugly. After non stop calling, The owner & manager came out and I saw their face when they saw what the pool looked like. At first he blamed my pool man saying it's his fault for not keeping the chemicals right. I told him you take a sample of water and I will and we will both have it tested. I took my sample in and the water was perfect. They refused to do the pool again so they acid washed the pool and it looked worse. They would not return any more of my calls. Now I have an ugly pool (oh they did fix my pavers) and cracked salmon colored walkways. Our new thing now is that the suction on the skimmer is not pulling in any dirt and the pool sweeper is not moving due to no suction. Will my nightmare ever end. PLEASE beware of nice salesman. Maybe I should have gone with the different Pool company that sent a sales rep out that keep getting phone calls from his girlfriend while he was eating a sandwich when I was trying to talk to him. ANYWAY DON'T USE JEFF KERBER POOLS. It's very hard for me now to trust any contractors. Does anyone take pride in their work or admit to their mistakes? All they needed to do is replaster my pool correctly and I would have given them a better rating.

When looking for a pool contractor, I did my homework. My property is large and this size project can seriously impact the value of the home. I sought and recieved approximately 8-10 on-site quotes from various pool companies. Each had their own spin and had great websites. After talking to Bobby several times, I narrowed the search to include Kerber. Bobby did a large scale drawing of the proposal with his personal design. He told me to trust him and I did (he has an art background of some kind). His designs (no charge) were perfect and truly fit my wants and were perfect for the space. The next step was to research Kerber. I went to Yelp, Angies list, Yahoo, BBB and any other site or blog where I could get feedback on each company. I saw various posting with vastly different comments and reviews. There were some negative reviews and ratings for Kerber. Upon looking deeper, it appeared that some of the negative entries were repeated by one or two (aparently upset/vindictive) individuals in several places...but appear to be separate complaints.... and another may have been a competitor (Kerber is a large company). I also saw that Kerber either resolved each complaint or tried to without the satisfaction of the customer. None were left hanging. Next, I went to locations/sites where Kerber had done similar projects.. I was trully amazed at the quality of work. One was also large with lots of herringbone work. It was of outstanding craftsmanship and detail. I hired Kerber! Their work was amazing. I met with the forman Jorge every morning. He and the entire crew were friendly (some construction contractors and crews are not). Jorge made adjustments as I requested without hassle or rebidding ...or repeated calls to the company...he just did it. These guys had the pool removed in a day, plumbed and poured in a couple of weeks and the entire project was completed in about 6 -7 weeeks. That included me stopping the project two weeks (vacation) because I wanted to be there throughout. They also removed a large pile of lanscaping to make the project work and worked with the landscaper to make it all work. I could not have asked for more...and I asked for a lot...I am very detail oriented...borderline anal. Kerber did an amazing job! The true test of a contractor is the follow up. Bobby has been very responsive. His electrical and go-to guy Travis has promptly returned every call and has helped me through everything when I needed help. He came to my house with little notice and fixed the minor issues that arose. It has been several months and everything is perfect. The remote control system controls all lights and equipment and is very cool. My kids have already had several parties with several planned. Bobby and Kerber did more then they promised for about 30% less then other companies. I am hiring Kerber for another large project for the remainder of my yard to include a large patio and waterfall.
Description of Work: My project involved the fiollowing: - Replaster large 40' pool and 10' spa and replace all plumbing/electric. - Install new multi color lights and jump board - Tear out old hardscaping and decking. - Place with new decking - brick herring bone design... approximately 3000 feet of herring bone and cement. - All new state of the art pool equipment - Install all drainage systems - Install planters and four large palister columns - Install exterior lighting - Instal large firepit Huge job - 85k

Response from Jeff Kerber Pool Plastering & Remodeling
We appreciate our customers' comments on the Angie's List site. We are proud that almost each review describes a positive experience and a high grade. We were surprised when we saw that this customer posted a negative review. Especially after we gave them about $3,000 of work in the form of a free re-plumbing of their entire pool, something that was not part of our original contract, and that we were not obligated to provide. We gave it to them to help them out after it was discovered that they had major problems with their old pool plumbing. We were especially surprised about this review since we completed all our work in July or August 2010, even the extra work performed at no charge, and had only one complaint from the customer, about a suspected leak which we tested and found to not be there. We strive to make all our customers happy but with some people that is not possible, even when you give them something far beyond what they were entitled to. It just proves the old adage, "no good deed goes unpunished".

These guys were awesome. They were quick and responsive. They had great style in what they constructed, and they went above and beyond my expectation to make sure I was pleased. The job was surprisingly well priced and came out spectacular. I have never had such a positive experience with anything relating to construction. I would recommend them to everyone (and wish they did more than pools, because I have never found someone so reliable and professional).

Overall, this compnay did a great job and we are now very satisfied with the outcome. The process itself could have been better, the sales person who originally convinced my wife to use them was of little help during the repair process, it seems that the first crew does a mediocre job and then they send in the "experts" to clean up what was done poorly, end result being, a great job. So, my recommendation to a potential buyer is to stay on top of the work, my recommendation to Jeff Kerber is to improve the communication process. That said, I do recommend their services, we are very happy with the end result an dthe price was reasonable, very good for the quality finished product. Would have given an "A" rating but for the uncertainty during the process.

The plaster crew did not install the tile accents in the layout discussed. They randomly placed the accent pieces around the steps and ledges. The crew cleaned their tools in my flower beds and the pool equipment enclosure leaving me with piles of plaster and quartz mess all around the yard. They hosed off the pool decking leaving water running down the sides of the pool that caused staining in the new plaster. The pool light didn't work and the pool leaked. My pool service tried to remove the stains with little improvement. My contractor and I both called Kerber and left messages for months with no result. Finally, my contractor got in touch with the owner who sent Chris out to assess the problem. Chris was able to lighten the stains on the pool steps but not on the sides of the pool. He promised to be back to fix the rest after discussing it with the owner. More time and lots of calls took place before Chris returned. They had to empty the pool and do an acid wash to remove the stains. They reinstalled the light correctly so that it worked and the pool no longer leaked. Unfortunately, they did not sand down the quartz so the pool sides, steps and seats are rough and snag swimsuits. Work initially started in November 2008 and the last repair was completed in July 2009. When the refilled the pool, they did not treat the water so I had to pay my pool service to restart up the pool. i have resigned myself to the rough finish and warn my guests about sitting on the pool steps and ledges we had built into the pool.
Description of Work: Kerber was a subcontractor to the company doing my backyard remodel. They removed the existing plaster and tile, raised up the deep end of the pool and added an auto fill valve and overflow drain before replastering using quartz. and re-tiling.

I think the experience is well represented in the above start to finish. These people like the rest of us are not divine. A couple small bobbles were owned up to and the company took ownership without argument. As a homeowner and as a licensed contractor I can not rate them lower the very best I have seen in their industry.
Description of Work: As you may well know, in today’s competitive world, it is not often enough that we have opportunity let alone the impetus to compliment employees of another company. I only had a few bids for redoing my swimming pool level along with the installation of glass block & replastering my jacuzzi spa on Elizabeth St. in Pasadena. I’m so glad I went with my gut instead of price. Your Eric Ruckle was so on top of things; it is hard to believe he isn’t part owner. All of your workers treated the project as if it might have been their own residence. I would also like to especially include the name of Francisco Sandoval, who arrived this morning to repair an accidentally broken pool light. You may even want to have Eric offer some schooling for an office personality by the name of Theresa. She seemed uncharacteristically cavalier about a minor disappointment for scheduling “pool start up” Cordially, Ed Sylvis, President Seismic Safety Inc.

I had a little problem with them after they finished the work because they blocked my water features. When I called them they ignored my calls or refused to talk to me. I would call the salesperson and I would even call the company and they would transfer me to the service department where I would leave a message and no one called me back. I think once they got the money they didn?t care. Finally I figured out that I should just have it replaced but it would cost a bit of money. I know someone who is having problems with the company too. The last review was good but I checked with the Better Business Bureau and they had some complaints. Some of the job they did well and I would let go if it was a little thing but this was bad. I got several quotes and most of them were right around the price I paid with this company. They didn?t come the first time they were scheduled because they were backed up. I think they were only interested in receiving money and not doing what they were supposed to do.

When I signed the contract, it was stated the work would take 5 weeks. It took three months to complete. I would be told a crew would show up to do work on a particular day, so I would make arrangements to be home. No crew showed up. When I called customer service, they would consistently forward me to a voice mail, and no one would get back to me. Bottom line, the customer service was horrible. I was inconvenienced several times, and no one in customer service would get back to me. When the job was finally complete, the Kerber Rock looked a bit blotchy and uneven. In the end, the company wanted to charge me over $400.00 to start the salt water system. I was unaware of this additional charge. Overall, the pool, tile, and deck look pretty good. I was just very unhappy with the customer service, the amount of time it took to complete the work, and the three different times I took time off work to be at home when a crew was supposed to show up and did not.
Description of Work: The company performed the following: demolition of old plaster and some of the deck. They did some masonry work to repair the deck. They installed a Salt Water System. They stained the cement deck. They installed pool tile. They installed Kerber Rock plastering.
