+ -1 moreThis company sent two guys out to trim the trees on my neighbors property. They were cutting trees on our property so I came out to see what was going on. I was pleasant when I interacted with them and I did not have an issue with what they were doing- they were trimming our branches on her side of the fence. Within minutes the laborer with the orange beard starting hurling insults towards me. He brought up my sexuality right off the bat. He wanted to talk about me being a '****' or a 'they/them'. The laborer he was working with laughed and encouraged it. Its unfortunate that a local company would hire labor with clear mental health issues- people who go from zero to sexual harassment within minutes. Do not give your business to a company that is promoting hate in the San Gabriel Valley. Update, upon looking at the Yelp page the orange beard day laborer 'took over' the company 3 years ago- Jeffery C. Even more reason to avoid Johnson Tree Service like the horrible company it is.

+ -1 moreNeeded Jeff’s service to remove a broken limb from neighbors’ tree that was resting on power lines. Also needed to remove dead leaves and branches from a Magnolia tree at the same time. Jeff came out on Friday afternoon to check out the situation, quoted me a price for the job, and promised to come back a day later to complete the work. Just like my previous experience, Jeff’s crew stopped by as promised, clear the dead limb off the power lines, and trimmed the Magnolia tree nice and neat. Also, I was not at home when Jeff’s crew came in and cleaned up the area before they left. A prompt, no-fuss, and professional job!

+ 0 morevery difficult job as most of work performed was on a steep hillside and unfortunately, everything had thorns. Felt bad for the fellas, but they got the job done! Have been working with Johnson Tree Service for a couple years....always happy with work, price point. Very loyal customer! The most difficult job performed was cabling 200' Aleppo pine - tethered to another pine with 60,000 pound cable. Saved the tree! Still thankful

+ -1 moreJeff was the best person to work with--he was so friendly and professional from the beginning to the end. His crew is very respectful and super-hard-working. He even paid for a small damage done to our gate while they were working. They even came back when there were some more trimmings to be done. They were very understanding and helped us from beginning to end. Jeff also helped us navigate some permit processes with the city. He was extremely patient with the whole process. Thank you and definitely would hire again!

+ -1 moreI am a seasoned real estate broker, property owner and property manager and I hire contractors on a regular basis. I am often not fully satisfied with the results. Johnson Tree Service is an exception. The owner, Jeff and his 2 man crew arrived exactly on time and went right to work. They were very conscientious and extremely efficient and performed all work in a very professional manner. Their price was very reasonable compared to other quotes I received. It seems to me that their pricing and efficiency is greatly aided by the fact that they have all the necessary equipment (boom truck, heavy duty chipper, power equipment of all types, etc.). This allows them to complete an awful lot of work in a fraction of the time. If you need to trim or remove a tree, don't hire "Joe Gardener" to do the job. Chances are you will pay more for a less than satisfactory result. Hire a pro like Johnson Tree Services and get the job done right at an affordable price and have peace of mind knowing that Jeff is a Certified Arborist, is licensed and carries both liability and workers compensation insurance.

+ -1 moreJohnson's was HUNDREDS less, for TWO trees! Work was to start at 8:00 and they were there at 7:30. Afterwards, yard spotless. We would use Johnson's in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: trim one 🥑 and one pepper. We had a gentleman knock on our door for years, bugging us to trim the pepper for $850. I don't do business with guys that knock on my door.

+ -1 moreI collected four bids to do the work. Johnson Tree Service's bid was the least expensive so I hired them. Jeff was knowledgable and professional and gave me complete confidence that they would do a good job. I was not disappointed. They removed the tree and all the roots from my yard and cleaned up and hauled everything away. I am completely satisfied with the job they did and give them my highest recommendation.
Description of Work: I had a large carob tree in my front yard that I needed to have removed. There were also a large number of surface roots that spread across virtually my entire yard that I wanted to have dug up and removed.

A pro-level quality job and a smooth transaction overall. Will definitely consider doing business again. Before-and-after photos attached for reference.

Description of Work: Let there be light! I let some trees grow a bit too long without trimming and a few others were causing problems (uprooting walls, etc). They took out four trees and trimmed six more.

Jeff and his crew were extremely professional and friendly, they arrived on time, made the tree go away and cleaned up. When they left it looked like there was never a tree there. Jeff contacted me very quickly after I contacted him and gave me a free estimate for an excellent price. They were able to do the job the next day.
Description of Work: I needed an 18 foot tall elm tree removed from my backyard.

+ -1 moreProfessional, knowledgeable, considers health of trees above all! Recommends what is good for trees, not his pocket book. When trimming 200' pine tress, they brought cut branches down w/ cables and didn't just let them drop. Very skillful. My 3 neighbors now use Johnson's Tree too.
Description of Work: Provided arborist report. Also, we have the worst leaning Aleppo pine in the city. All other tree services wanted to out it down. Johnson tree service was able to use a "cable" to support it extending it life.

Description of Work: Signed up for Chip Drop and Jeff Carlton, "Johnsons Tree Service" accepted my request. He even listed the drop as delivered. However, nothing was delivered. I called his phone, mail box full (bad sign to start). I sent an email asking if he was going to drop the mulch since he responded to the request saying the chips were dropped. Mybe he was just on his way or something. No, that wasn't the case. He finally responded that he decided not to do the delivery because it didn't meet my requirements (had Chinese Elm in it). I do appreciate that, at least he didnt just unload his garbage on front yard. But he never contacted me or the ChipDrop website to cancel the fact that he said the load was delivered. A "delieverd" load puts me at the bottom of the list on that site as I have no received something even though I never actually did. When I asked that next time he not accept my request if he wasn't actually going to deliver, he responded rudely threatening to never give me free stuff. Nice guy. When I searched his name on Google, I found another tree company in Huntington Beach with his info. They immediately responded that this guy was no longer with their company. No surprise there. Beware of this guy, he's not honest and he's not nice. I contacted ChipDrop and I have the email string. I posted on NextDoor as well.

I was so pleased to have a crew that knew about trees, took time to evaluate and discuss the job and didn't "top" or otherwise distort/damage as others have done in the past. They did a great job of cleaning up and hauling away. Approx cost for all three trips plus cost of nutrient apps was beyond reasonable.
Description of Work: I have used Johnson Tree Service 3 times recently and I was not disappointed. Initially hired Jeff & his crew for shaping & trimming of three mature 50+ ft trees.as well as an attempt to salvage an approx. 60 yr old English walnut tree. . 2nd trip was to reshape the now healthy walnut tree. 3rd trip was to apply a hormone/nutrient application to the same walnut tree
