CALIFORNIA CHIMNEY SWEEP

We were very happy with Vince and his assistant. He showed up in a top hat (which I thought was a nice cheeky touch). We had just moved in and the chimney has not been used much previously so there was a lot to do. They put a cap on the chimney (a large one that covered both flues since we have two different fireboxes), cleaned the chimney, and repaired some piping on the gas igniter. They were very clean and put down a cover over the floor and were careful when moving furniture. The cap looks very clean and nicely done and the igniter works well. We have used the chimney since then without any issues. What really struck me was that they were very knowledgeable and, as far as I could tell, honest. This is my first home and they explained to me how the chimney works, how to use the flue, how to operate the gas igniter, how to light a fire properly..basically they answered every question I asked. Those questions may seem basic, but they were important for a new homeowner like me, and they showed themselves to be very patient and kind. In regards to honesty, a previous chimney sweep had said that I had too many cracks in the chimney and would need a repair, estimating at more than $4K and that I should not use my chimney until the repairs were done. I knew this wasn't true since my real estate agent has brought out a mason to look at the house and he had said it was fine. CA Chimney Sweep was right in line with the mason (without prompting)--said there were a few cracks but that the chimney was fine to use. It would have been easy for him to say that the other sweeper was right and capitalize on my inexperience. In regards to price, we had two separate fire boxes and had a lot of initial work done like the cap and the gas lines, so that drove the price up. Vince assured me it would be less for maintenance going forward. We will be using CA Chimney Sweep as our regular sweepers!

CALIFORNIA CHIMNEY SWEEP RETURNED ALL CALLS AND WAS ON TIME WHEN THEY CAME OUT. THE GENTELMAN INSPECTED THE CRACK IN THE CHIMNEY AND SAIDS IT WAS FINE. AFTER THE CHIMNEY WAS CLEANED THERE WAS NO MESS LEFT FOR US TO CLEAN UP.
