It went well but I spent $2600 for a couple hours of work for two guys. I thought based on the quote it was going to take much longer so I felt like I really overpaid. Quality of work and knowledge was great.

Great! They were the middle of the road price but the only company who met my 25 requirements: They included Liability insurance, Workman's comp Ins and had to be bonded and licensed. I have known companies who say thy have 'insurance" but they are talking about their own personal insurance. The job was done very well and in a good time frame. The roof is awesome, with a solar attic vent and now I have solar panels, so a good, sound job was what I wanted and what I got. I called them back to install the solar attic vent so my warranty would not be broken. I just called them again for a flat roof repair I need done on my patio. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!
Description of Work: I needed a complete tear off and new plywood and roofing materials installed: Felt paper and 40 year Composition shingles. My ex husband is a roofing contractor and I knew the shady deals he used in the 80's. So i compiled a 25 point checklist for the 3 roofers estimates.

They showed up in the middle of the week to strip the old shake roof off, That took them all day. then they left my roof open for a week and it would of been longer but there was rain in the forcast so they came out to put the shetting on to cover there butts, Cuase if it had rained there would of been a lot of damage to my home and it would of cost them a lot of money. So it was sheeted , Then three days later two guys showed up to start replaceing some dry rot that I had. that went on for three days. Then they finaly showed up to roof the house. That took three more days cause they didn't bring enough mateial to do the job. About half way through the job I got a cll from the contractor and he told me that he made a miistake and bid it to low and that he needed $1,200.00 to finish the job, I told him that we had a contract and that was all I was going to pay. Had they done the job like we talked about I might of paid that extra money, But because they jacked me around so long I decided not to pay it. They also don't replace any of the old vents, which I thought was part of the job, My miistake. They also don't pull any of the old nailes they puound them in and that makes it dangerous if you need to get up in the atic to do anything cause all of these nails are sticking through and do a great job on your head, Like pooking holes in it. Not very safe , Again my fault I guess I should of asked but this is my first roofing job so I didn't know any better. THe workmanship on the roof was fine it's just that they took a lot longer to complet it they we agreed on.

mor Roofing was hired to restore our tile roof. They did an excellent job and we were amazed at how thorough they were. We were pleased with the quality of the work, the price and the professionalism and friendliness of the owner, John Jewell. There were a couple of little areas that needed to be adjusted and Armor Roofing willingly came and fixed it. Our experience with Armor Roofing was a very positive one.
Description of Work: We had a tile roof, which needed restoring. There was also some dry rot discovered. We had new gutters added

The estimate provided was comparable to other we recieved. We indicated that we'd be getting a new A/C unit on the roof at the same time, contractor said coordinating would be no problem. We had a hard time deciding which color to choose, after a subsequent estimator visit and a couple of phone calls, we received 2 addresses to go look at. We chose this contractor based on a friends experience with them and her referal, the fact they were "factory-certified" with the materials we wanted and the price was within $50 of others received. The existing shake roof was removed, 8 bags of insulation was blown into the area between ceiling and roof, sheathing was laid, several feet of plywood was replaced by in the eves, waterproofing applied (Tigers Paw), shingles laid and roofcaps installed. A sub-contractor installed the gutters. The workers did excellent work and were courteous and professional. Each day they cleaned the work area. All work was done within the timeline and there were no surprise costs. During the course of this project, I found a "Rebate for Troops" by the manufacturer of the roofing materials (GAF). It required us to complete a form and provide UPC codes, etc. however, the Roofing Contractor's Office staff completed the paperwork and sent it in for us. My only real problem with the project was with the Project Manager. Although a nice guy and I'm sure he knows his business, he did not communicate with me as to when workers would arrive/leave, what was to be done each day, proper coordination with the A/C contractor or when payment was expected. Luckily, the workers coordinated and completed tasks without much disruption. The Gutter subcontractor, C-Seamless, was exceptional...if I find them on your list, I will write a separate review for them. It would be nice if Armor could provide a list of addresses so potential customers can look at what the products look like on up on the roof...
Description of Work: Estimate to replace shake roof with comp, perform any dry rot reapirs, blow insulation and replace gutters on back side of house. The existing shake roof was removed, 8 bags of insulation was blown into the area between ceiling and roof, sheathing was laid, several feet of plywood was replaced by eves on the back of the house (because of dryrot or potential issue), waterprrofing material was applied (Tigers Paw), shingles laid and roof caps installed.

Got an estimate and it was same as other companies I had recieved estimates from. The reason for choosing Armor Roofing was that they offered to do some little extras that included sweeping the moss off the other part of the roof , painting the older galvanized valleys and couple of other things But they did not do these extras, In my opinion don't offer to do the little extras to just get the job and if you offer extras you should follow through and do them. As Far as the roofing that was installed it looks good exccept I think the flashing over the fascia board does not sit flush on the front side looks unprofessional. In my opinion the reason the extras were not done was the comment was made that the job was under bid. as far as the time frame of job completion I told the estimator that we are from out of state working on a rental home and gave him a time when we were leaving I was promissed that the job would be done before we left. That did not happen the job was completed after we had left for home so we were not there to inspect the fished job had to have my son go by to see if it was done right, but he was not sure what to look for.I was not given a written estimate MY MISTAKE FOR NOT ASKING FOR ONE. So I have no recourse as far as the extras offered not being done. As far as the workers they were polite did a good job installing the roofing (except flashing) cleaning up and were good workers

They were really good and professional all the way. They were very courteous and all their employees were nice. I was happy with their service and their quality of work was excellent. They were very contentious about what I asked them to do and they did it. Their pricing was pretty fair compared to others. One of their guys came to check out what had to be done and then after that a crew came out and completed the job within twenty four hours. I would use them again in the future.

We called initially for a leak that we had over our garage. They sent out some guys within two hours, and they fixed the problem. The estimator included the cost of that repair in a later bid for the shake work. The other bids we received only wanted to put on asphalt and no one else mentioned the new state codes that were required for energy efficiency. So we also had insulation done which really has helped keep our house warm. We were happy with the crews and they cleaned up the work around the home really well. I really recommend them and have been happy with the results.
Description of Work: We had a roof restoration done on the wood shakes. They suggested either that or reroofing. But this was more affordable to us as we do not know how much longer we are going to live here.

A few weeks later, after,1/20/10 a representative of Armor came out and gave me a bid. Awaiting cataract surgery, and not being able to read the first page of the bid, I thought it said $275, and I signed the bid thinking this was a good price. It was late evening and poor lighting, and I did not see that the contract was for $1275.00. This did include the $250.00 I"d already paid, so I honored the contract, and it was sometime in April or May before they came out to replace the "nosing" and finish the patch. In the meantime, on March 17, I'd had another roofing Co. come and provide me with another proposal to remove the portion of damaged roofing & replace it with the original roofing material, Their proposal was for $250.00 for the finish repairs, removing and replacing the damaged areas of the roof. Armor showed up about the same time and completed the work indicated on the contract I'd signed. I waited for the bill which finally arrived on June 5, 2010 and it also had an invoice for added interest covering the time from the work done and their first bill of 6/5/10, I wrote a check and mailed it on 6/6/10. On 6/15/10 they called to dunn me for the amount due saying that my account was past due. Hence my report rating them as a "D" for the experience, price and professionalism. Ward Stenson
Description of Work: Neighbor's tree top blew off and hit studio roof and "nosing" metal at edge of roof, poking a hole in roof, knocking off light fixtures in studio. Armor Roofing responded to my call for emergency repairs and performed the patch on the roof, for which I paid immediately. with a check ,$250.00 - 1/20/2010, Further repairs were done on or about 3/17/10 and were satisfactory.

Response from Armor Roofing
The Member called Armor Roofing on Jan 20, 2010 for emergency repairs. We sent out a crew the same day to fix the leaking and it was paid at that time. However, both he and our crew knew that it was only temporary repairs to prevent further water damage. Therefore, on February 10, 2010 the Member approved the contract of $1275 for permanent repairs. The work demanded custom metal that had to be manufactured specifically for his roof and it required proper outdoor temperature to apply repairs to the roof (hence the uncustomary gap between the signed contract and the completion date.)) He has a unique roof system that required special considerations. We completed the repairs on March 17th. It states in our contract that payment is due upon completion. Furthermore we sent out the invoice on 3/25/2010. When no payment was made on the account, we sent finance charges for $15.37 which does not include our standard finance charges and service charges. Customer received the late notice and sent in payment, closing the account. It is unfortunate that the Member was not satisfied with the price and billing procedures. However, we stand behind the work we completed for him.

Not so good, there was dry root on a piece of wood that we had pointed out to them that needed to be replaced. when they cut out the bad piece they did not check for wires...and cut my Cable to one of the bedrooms
Description of Work: They came and striped the old shingles of and found some spots with water damage. they replaced them and moved on to putting down new tar paper and shingles. But the they cut a hole in the roof to put in a vent. My house is open beam, no attic. So now they have to tare up part of the roof and replace that with a piece that they will have to talk from another part of the roof.

General manager was very eager for my business. Said business was down considerably from the year before, and he needed to keep his crew together. Initially everything was fine- he came up with some good suggestions on how to ventilate my attic and was very helpful in that regard. His bid was about $1,000.00 cheaper than the other two estimates I got. Once work started, early on, he asked that I overlook the bid price so that he "wouldn't have to call me at work for permission every time he needed a box of nails." I foolishly agreed. He was also kind of put out about having a county building inspector approve the project, which I insisted on. The rain gutters were provided through a sub-contractor, and were ultimately installed several weeks past deadline. It was kind of sad because the installers, a Mexican family, were using their children to help out when they should have been in school. When I eventually got the bill, it was $1,400.00 over the estimate. I spoke to the general manager, who told me that a billing error had been made. He agreed to take $400.00 off the bill. Since I had agreed earlier to go over the estimate, I didn't think I had much of a court case so didn't fight it. It would have been tough anyway, because he used Mexican immigrant laborers, and there was no way of keeping track of their hours, etc. In the end, the overage put the price about the same as the competition. The carpentry wasn't very well done. There are gaps between facie boards and I discovered several nails driven only part way in. It looked someone blew a whistle at the end of the day and the carpenters just walked off before hammering in the nails. One of the clean up crew let my puppy (English bulldog $$$) out of its kennel. Luckily I found it within minutes, stuck under a fence in the back yard.
Description of Work: Replaced old roof including flat area, added ridge vent,. Some minor carpentry involved.

Response from Armor Roofing
Armor Roofing is proud of our 99% satisfaction rate and successful completion of over 20,000 jobs in the central valley. We take all complaints seriously and wish that we could have this problem resolved. We are also extremely proud of our staff and employees regardless of their nationality, whether German, Italian or Hispanic. We can honestly say that we can count the number of unsatisfied customers on one hand. All of our contracts include materials and labor, including nails, as in his contract as well. Dry Rot is not visible to Armor Roofing's salesman who sold the job. We provided this customer all dry rot repairs free of charge to the roof decking and sheeting areas. However there was dry rot damage to the structural members which was repaired at our cost and only charged at our cost, as specified in the contract. This is standard for any roofing company. All of our employees have gone through extensive background checks prior to hiring by a private firm. In addition, all hours are recorded and all employees have taxes and worker's compensation provided. (This includes weekly checks made by a private firm who maintains their records.) Most of our employees were born within the United States and english is their primary language. As for our subcontracted gutter specialists, we have used them since 2004 without incident. They are a family run business including children in their twenties that assist them. They also have all required local and state licenses, permits and meet all local and state laws. Armor Roofing pulled a permit on this job and had regularly scheduled inspections completed by the permit office. (Pre-Inspection, Sheet, Nail, Final). Issues regarding the permit passing were due to painting exposed wood, which is not covered under our license and is required to be completed by building owner, as specified in the contract. We are grateful for his business and wish that the matter could have been resolved to his satisfaction. However we stand behind the work we completed for him.

The general manager arrvied for his appointment early, assessed the situation and prepared his estimate on the spot. He was able to negoiate the deal and leave the house with a commitment from us. He provided all samples and information needed for my HOA approval in a timely manner. This company was able to work their schedule around 3 other projects we had going on and one emergency that arose during the process. All projects were finished timely and efficiently due to the fact this company was working with us. We really appreciated that. Their crew were efficient and cleaned up after themselves each time they were at the house. This was very important to us.
Description of Work: Removed 2 prior roofs. Replaced all damaged and dry rotted boards. Sheeted the entire house. Reconnected all vents and replaced all vents on top of the house and even added a few. Roofed the entire house.
