Brought our Honda lawnmower in to sharpen blades and tune up. It took three or four pulls to start the old mower and since we just got new sod, we wanted a nice clean mower at top performance. The Honda was $450 when new, and was ten years old. Was told tune up included oil change and air filter and sharpen blades for $55, and cleaning the carburetor. Told them we also maybe needed cables replaced as the coating around the cables was starting to fray. They said new cables would be $30 ish so it would be under $85. Said it would be ready in THREE OR FOUR DAYS and they would call us in case the blades needed replacing too. We never got a call so called them in the morning, four days later, and they did not answer phone or return our left phone message. Called them again the following day and they said it was not done yet (5 days later) and that they were closed on Sunday. Said they would call us when done. They did not. We called again on Monday and they said it was $121 for tune up not $55 as quoted. Said it was done and to come get it. Explained that the tune up was labor only and they charged extra for air filter and oil and spark plugs even though we were told at drop off that was included in the $55 for tune up. We drove down to pick it up, and when we got there, they said and quot;oops, its not done after all....come back later. Told it would be done the next day. They called back two hours later and said it was done, but they could not replace the cables (did they ever order them a week earlier like stated), so they just wrapped electrical tape around them.....reduced our charge to $86. When we picked it up it started fine. We were angry it cost the quoted amount WITHOUT new cables and were angry it was done four days after it was supposed to. We got it home and it started fine with a few pulls, and then we started to mow with the wheels set at their highest setting. We got through ten linear feet of grass, and the mower turned off. It had gas. We tried to restart it multiple times and it would not start. We waited several hours and tried again in case the engine got flooded, and it still would not start. We called them and they said they open at six am and to bring it back then. We said we wanted to talk directly to the mechanic. Maria said he was not in until 10 am. So we showed up after ten and Maria said they had no mechanic and to leave it and they would probably replace the carburetor for another $50 to $100. By this time it would be cheaper to buy a new Honda mower with more horsepower at Lowes. She was rude. Said it didn't matter that it worked when we brought it in to her, that we would have to keep paying until they figured out why it doesn't work. We told her new oil and spark plugs and airfilter don't help if the mower no longer work and told her we needed a refund. Maria said the only way she would refund us was if we GAVE her the mower. We argued and got her to refund $40 out of the $86. So we paid $46 to have them break our mower.

I have an older but virtually unused Coleman generator that I wanted to sell. The generator hadn't been started in about 10 years, although I would periodically pull the starter handle to make sure the engine wouldn't seize. I advised a potential buyer to bring fresh gas and some quick starter spray to see if we could start it up. No luck. It would start on fluid but was starved for gas. I tried the usual steps of externally cleaning the carb but no luck. Since the carb was probably varnished from old gasoline, and the oil and spark plug were over 20 years old, I decided to bring it in for service. Armando's looked like a good deal as they just work on machinery. Armando got the generator running very well and within about a day. For $85 they deep cleaned the carb, changed the spark plug and change the oil. The old generator now runs as good as new - starts on the second pull. This is a no-hassle basic business that seems to be pretty busy. They helped me load the generator in my truck. They take all the usual credit cards too. I'd highly recommend them.
