Anthony came and looked at the backyard, he seemed very nice. No measurements were taken as far as I could tell, he just looked at a graph outline of the backyard that I already had, but he listened to my concerns and desires for the pool and surrounding area. He said that he would get back to me in 2 days with a design and an estimate but he never called back, emailed, texted, or even dropped a note or letter in our mail. If I'm considering spending thousands of dollars with a contractor, he/she must be reliable and follow through without my having to call them to remind them to do what they're supposed to do. By not following through my confidence in them was lost. And it wasted hours with nothing to show for it.

Probably OK for a cookie-cutter pool with little custom work. We experienced problems when we requested custom work such as a 3rd step in the oversized spa, custom spa jets, underwater LED lights in the waterfall, oversized baja step, etc. Veteran Pool had a hard time understanding what we requested and a harder time delivering the final product. It took over a month to get the correct custom jets installed in the spa. The installer broke the first custom jets because he had never installed them before. Then the replacement order kept getting screwed up because left hand didn't talk to right hand and either the wrong size was ordered or the wrong style was ordered. Regarding the waterfall lights, just as we were about to shoot the shotcrete for the pool and waterfall, I'm told Veteran Pool doesn't really know what style of underwater lights to use for the waterfall, initially suggesting to use a regular pool flood light. I had to do some quick searching and wound up selecting a poorly sized LED light that turned out to be too big and bright for the low mood effect that we were looking for. And the guy who formed the rock waterfall apparently had never installed these types of lights so he set them directly into the concrete with very no excess wire to allow me to pull the lights out to replace the bulbs if necessary. I sure hope LED lights last as long as they are advertised. Just very poor coordination and communication for the overall pool project. We expected better quality and expertise in custom work.

Overall, it was outstanding. He did a great job, but there were just a couple of things. Like all contractors, when they're done, they're done. There might be a tiny bit of something that needs to be done and you don't see them anymore. So, I guess that's what happened. I mean, it had nothing to do with his construction ability, because that was really good. The work was really good. It was prompt, he had good people working, everything he said he was going to do he did and it was a reasonable price. Nothing's reasonable actually with a pool repair, but it was as reasonable as you can get. Overall, the pool experience was good. There were just a couple of things that I wish he had done that he didn't do. He's really good, but his follow up was a little bit lacking when he was done. But, the work is outstanding.
Description of Work: We went with Veteran Pools & Plastering for a pool remodel. They redid the light inside the pool, I got a new pool filter and they did cement work in the pool as they had to redo the cement. There's tile work around the pool and then there's the cement in the pool. Then there was tile work and coping that was done.

Very satisfied with our pool replaster job so far. Of course, the real satisfaction comes in a couple of years when we get to see if the plaster holds its color and quality, but Veteran pools was a very good experience. Showed up on time, performed the job within budget and on time. Would definitely use again. Thanks Jeff!

Jeff, the contractor, was absolutely fantastic. He was extremely professional. He kept the dates up. They were not late. They were some who were a little late. It was nice that they were prompt with hours. We had to do something before they could come and do some work. Everything was wonderful. We compared their price to other people, and their price was reasonable. The pool looks wonderful. He knew that we had only a few days during the Christmas vacation that it had to be done, and he was right on top of things. We were so pleased. We would recommend him to anybody.

Pool needed a remodel. Tiles falling off and rust spots on the bottom. It was time. Wife contacted various pool contractors. Jeff was a little more than our lowest price, but he came across as a knowledgeable, no pressure, on point person. He gave us locations we could go to pick out tile, etc. His contract was thorough and most importantly, he had all his necessary insurance, bond and licenses. He was certified by Pebble Tec to install their product. He answered calls with any questions we had and also texted back when we texted him. The workers.....worked.....hard.....bought them lunch on two long days and supplied ice water. Very organized. Sam, the concrete and Pebble Tec man, has been doing pools for 15 years and was very patient with any questions I had. Jeff said it would take 7-10 days and he stayed on target. Jeff came back and examined work product during installation. Of course pool now looks brand new and really pops. Thank you Jeff, Sam and all ......... If you install Pebble Tec, make sure to ask how long to let it sit before using your spa or pool sweep...we were advised its best to leave it for 30 days. Of course you can swim in it right away........

After months of meeting with about 10 other pool contractors, a friend who had just finished adding a pool in their back yard recommended Veteran Pools and Plastering. We checked out their pool and made our decision easily - and we couldn't be happier! Jeff Lucas is professional and easy to deal with. He has great attention to detail and focuses on results. He listens and follows through. He and his crew are dependable and reliable and Jeff was here almost every day to oversee the job. He and his team guided us when we needed help choosing colors and materials or making decisions. His crew is amazingly skilled and their work is impeccable. And they stayed on schedule! My husband and I could not be more pleased with the end result. The pool and masonry work is beautiful. The whole back yard turned out amazing! We are now using Jeff for a stone and concrete project in our front yard. We highly recommend Veteran Pools and Plastering!
