TUFF SHED INC - San Jose

I called them. No response. Sent an online request. No response. Decided to go and see them in person, just my luck that I got a new guy in training. I asked them about their bad reviews and they kept avoiding the question and were just focused on pushing worthless perks of a shed at me

This was the second time I had used Tuff Shed. Their combination of price, speed, selection, and quality is great -- I think they've really got their business down and provide a great product and service. After putting in a request on their site, a sales guy called me to go over my customizations, talk about the site, etc. Sent a marked up satellite photo clarify location, he did a quick drive-by to check for any access problems. Once we were ready to go ahead, turn-around was within a week or two and work was completed within a day (their sheds are partially pre-fabbed so that on-site time is minimized). The whole process was very convenient -- I don't think I ever had to meet anyone in person. And as always, the shed is very solidly constructed and a great value.

Pre-delivery inspection was not performed which caused some problems when the shed was delivered.

The process began in January with them telling us it would take 5 days to build. They said they needed to do some discovery and engineering first, then they strung us out for 9 months with virtually no contact. In June they said discovery was finished and they had city approval. At that point, they asked for, and we gave them, a $1,000 deposit. Then we were back to waiting. What little communication and information we received was due to our repeated phone calls and emails. After months of excuses and virtually no response, we went to their location to try and resolve their lack of progress. In addition, we attempted to call their main office, but never got through. All we got were evasions, excuses, and promises. After dumping them and going with another provider, we are ready to build. It took the new provider 6 weeks to be ready to build.

Salesman was very attentitive and helpful. Instalation was on time and from what I can see at this point in time high quality.

The crew of two arrived on time. The man in charge was reluctant to put the shed where I asked, claiming that it was too close to the property line. He eventually agreed to put the shed near where I wanted it. When I saw the shed completed, the window placement did not appear right. I checked the drawing and measured the windows to find that they had been set 8 inches higher and several inches off laterally from what we had specified. Tuff-Shed had not ordered the correct door so the crew installed a temporary replacement. Tuff-Shed admitted that the errors were theirs and agreed to correct them. Three weeks later the crew arrived to lower the windows and replace the door. The work they did was functionally adequate, but not of good appearance: the siding shows ragged caulked seams above the windows, the paint doesn't match too well and the door and lock set were not installed carefully. The design and materials seem to be good, but the workmanship is only fair to poor.

THE STAFF WAS VERY RESPONSIVE AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY HAD A VARIETY OF COLORS AND OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM. THE QUALITY AND WORKMANSHIP OF THE SHED APPEARS TO BE EXCELLENT.

Pretty pleased. They did everything that they were supposed to do. It was kind of a in and out job. They came did their work and left. I felt the price was pretty high. Overall they did good and I would rehire them if it was necessary. I would give them a four stars.

THE STAFF AT TUFF SHED WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY DELIVERED ALL NECESSARY MATERIALS TO BUILD THE SHED AND IT LOOKS GREAT. THEY BUILT SHELVES MADE SURE EVERYTHING WAS LEVEL.

TUFF SHED WAS ON TIME FOR BOTH APPOINTMENTS THEY MADE WITH ME. THEY WERE FAIRLY PRICED AND THE SHED IS VERY WELL BUILT. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. THE STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL.
