HOME DEPOT

We'd been looking for shutters for over a year. We had had 3 other companies come in and give us quotes, but something had stopped us on each company (one estimator was wearing heavy perfume, one was a little too aggressive, and one's price seemed too high). Then we were walking through Home Depot last December and spotted a new line of shutters we had not seen before, Rockwood. (prior to this, we did not like the quality of the shutters H.D. carried). The Rockwood line appeared to be exactly what we were looking for: high quality, wood, 3 1/2", hidden control rod, plus it seemed like a very reasonable price (NOT cheap, but reasonable). Home Depot did required a $50 non-refundable deposit prior to scheduling an estimate, but it WAS applied to the cost of the shutters. The only confusion was when I tried to contact someone at the store the first time, to ask a question and I did not have a name/extension, and no one I talked to knew anything about Rockwood shutters (they knew about other brands, but apparently Rockwood was too new to the store), I finally gave up and just stopped by the store to talk to someone in person (and got their name/extension so I could contact them later, which made it much easier). The person who came out to measure postponed once, but she called prior to when she was supposed to arrive, and she arrived promptly at the rescheduled time. She was efficient and very professional. The gentleman who came to do the final measurement arrived right at the scheduled time, also very efficient and professional. He also turned out to be the person who did the installation, and again arrived right on time, was very professional, and did a beautiful job.

I came to know about Home Depot through television, and I have been shopping there for at least 12 years. The quality of service has its ups and downs. The paint department, for example, is very responsive and professional. With the lawn and garden department though, it is more of a hit-and-miss situation, depending on who is manning the place.

The estimate was higher than what it eventually cost me to order all new cabinets. The estimate to reface was $13600 and the same cabinets (all new) were only $9800 at HD. I felt an element of rip off in the process. I would not try Home Depot services again. This is my second experience where I got an estimate for a service that was about double what is reasonable.

The work was more exp. than other quotes but they gave a guarantee so I decided it might be worth the extra cost if I was going to sell the house (which I'd been considering). It took them 3 months to start and 5 days to finish + additional repair work was completed w/out my consent or even knowledge. They tried to get me to pay $13,500 for the roof+repair work even though they had never even informed me there was any damage, they didn't keep any damaged materials and all they did was show me grainy pics of damage. Home Depot personnel were horrendous to deal with so I started writing letters filed a complaint with the contractors state license board and only then did I see HD acquiesce from saying that I owed the additional money even though I never authorized the work (this is completely opposite than the contractors' law in CA). It was an ordeal but they finally reduced the amnt due. There were outrageous chrgs like $9/lin. ft of gutter removal which was not in the org estimate

The quality of work was very poor. The work was subcontracted to another company. There were problems after the job was completed. The flashing is coming apart. We had to call them three times to get them to come and fix the problem. I was not happy with them and would definitely not recommend them to anyone.

THE HOME DEPOT SALES ASSOCIATES GAVE ME TIPS, WALKED ME THROUGH THE INSTALLATION STEP BY STEP AND JUST PROVIDED ME WITH THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. THOUGH WE DID INSTALL THE WINDOWS OURSELVES, WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HAVE DONE SUCH A SUCCESSFUL JOB WITHOUT THE HELP OF THE HOME DEPOT EMPLOYEES.

HOME DEPOT WAS OUR CHOICE WHEN IT CAME TO PERGO. THEY HAD A GREAT SELECTION OF COLORS AT GOOD PRICES. THE INSTALLERS WERE PROMPT, CLEAN AND DID A GOOD JOB.

I had an excellent experience. It made this very convenient for me and my schedule. They lived up to our expectations that we had of them they were helpful in every aspect and wonderfully polite. They are a great crew. It took four days to complete the job.

It took them eight months to install a door. They did not do a good job at all, and I would never deal with this company again. They were terrible. I have never heard of anyone taking so long to install a door.

OVERALL THE EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD. THE PRICE WAS GOOD. SOME OF THE CABINETS WERE DELIVERED DAMAGED, AND HOME DEPOT TOOK CARE OF GETTING REPLACEMENTS, ALTHOUGH THEY TOOK PRETTY LONG TO ARRIVE.

THEIR PRICES WERE VERY COMPETITIVE. THE CARPET ARRIVED WITHIN THE TIME STATED AND INSTALLATION WAS PROMPT. THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB REMOVING THE OLD CARPET AND INSTALLING THE NEW CARPET. NO BUMPS OR GAPS.

THEIR PRICE IS REASONABLE. THEIR WORK IS PROFESSIONAL. THEY HAVE LOTS OF PRODUCTS TO CHOOSE.
