Ace Painting Co

I did use Ace Painting Co that was a long time ago but I am very happy with them. 2010 was when I bought the house and just before we moved in we had them paint the exterior of the house. They did make some recommendations, I was able to choose what I wanted and they also reached the hard to reach corners. They were quite patient. The paint was part of the pricing. Overall I am extremely happy because it has been three years and the quality of the paint is as new, if you look at the house right now it almost looks like it was just painted, that's the quality. After they left, I checked all those corners, the hard to reach ones, but honestly I was surprised how they were able to paint it. I did check them online and I interrogated them again and in the end the reason I chose them was the price which was better than the other companies that I checked and also I met the guy who came out. Responsiveness was good.

Overall, a minimally stressed experience. Being taped inside your home is a bit unnerving, but necessary. The crew was friendly and professional. The job was done on time and per the proposal. We are satisfied.

Paint failed to adhere: The paint failed to adhere to the wood boards surrounding the windows on the the south side of the house. The boards appeared not to be properly prepared for the new paint. These critical "sun" exposed areas appeared not to be sanded or the old paint removed. After four years the paint literately just peeled off. When Alex Yi from Ace Painting visited recently, his position is that it wasn't their fault; the original paint failed to adhere. The original paint was at least 15 years old when Ace Painting repainted the house. I expected that a professional painting company would take into consideration the fact that the old paint, at least in the southern exposed areas, would need to be prepped. I took samples of the peeled paint to a local Kelly Moore store (the paint was Kelly Moore) and had a area sales/service person visit my house. This gentleman agreed that the surface where the pealing occurred was not prepped before the new paint was painted over. I wanted Ace painting to fix the problem. Alex Yi offered to supply the labor at his cost and I would buy the needed paint. However generous Mr. Yi thought this offer was, I did not. It appears to me that a professional painter would have not overlooked the need to pay special attention to highly exposed areas (south side) and to make sure that the type of peeling experienced would be mitigated.

Alex came out promptly, gave me suggestions as to proper preparation, and gave me a quote. I had some time constraint as the new tenants were moving in the following week. Alex's guy arrived the next day at 9 and worked diligently. He went above and beyond in assuring that areas were properly filled, even when hidden from view. (There were pockets for the vertical boards. The boards alternated sides of the fence so there were empty pockets. These had undergone some rot because they had not been properly protected when the fence was installed about 18 years earlier.) Alex's guy removed accumulated debris from the pockets and filled when necessary. I felt so good about the painter's work, I made sure he had a couple of donuts and coffee in the morning, and a good sandwich at noon. I would give Alex and his painter he assigned my highest recommendation. Good job!

The experience was wonderful and I was totally happy. I called them and it was done a week later, so it was very fast. They have really good workers and I was very happy.

Alex came out promptly to give a quote and was very professional and knowledgeable. His crew of painters was very experienced and worked steadily. They kept everything clean. They were mindful that we had indoor cats and took great care to always close the outside door. We are very pleased with the outcome and will use Ace Painting for future projects.

Alex Yi responded same day when I called for an estimate. He came out on the date and time that was most convenient for us and sent an e-amiled estimate which included the Angie's List discount and proof of license as well as links to other homes they've painted. The estimate was very thorough and included ALL prep and clean-up. On the first day of work the team was on time and introduced themselves then started right in with the prep (power wash, sanding off old paint, etc). There were a couple of rainy days so we didn't expect them to come but Alex even sent a note saying due to the rain they wouldn't be coming and said they would be back on the Thursday of that week - and they were! They covered everything well (we have a lot of plants outside) and began the painting. The quality of the job is excellent - we have an HOA which requires certain paint schemes with 3 colors - they asked BEFORE painting if they had a question. There was an area around a window that could have been done several different ways but before assuming it should go one way vs. the other they asked and we worked it out. The transition between colors is great - no dripping and clean lines. They cleaned up after themselves leaving no junk behind. I will definitely call upon them again for any painting job I have!

The whole project lasted about 5 days. They spent 3 1/2 days prepping. The job was well done and the workmen were responsive to suggestions.

The job went very well. Alex and his crew were very professional - on time, worked hard, responsive to questions and requests. The prep job was very thorough. Before they even started painting, I was confident that the finished product would be well done...and it was. Their bid was a bit higher than some of the others I received, but it was definitely worth it. The last time we had our house painted we took a low bid and the team took lots of short cuts, which I'm sure is why the paint didn't hold up as well as we hoped. During this bidding process, Alex explained in detail what his team would do - and they delivered.

Alex was professional, responsive, and easy going. His guys did a great job on my one story 1750 sq ft house. It all went very smoothly and timely.

Ace Painting gave me a quote and the showed up on time. They gave me the quote in a pretty efficient time manner but then he often kept saying that there was another job, that he was busy and maybe a few more weeks and another more week and another. Anyway he never got it done because he never follows through with that. Whenever I contacted them, he was always busy and put me off until later so I just gave up on that.

I called about 4 painting contractors for an estimate. Prices varied and although ACE was not the least expensive they seemed to be the most professional. They came promply and completed the job on schedule. No mess, no fuss. Exactly what I was looking for. Their recommendations proved to be correct and helpful. A spot was missed and when I called about it they came back in a timely manner and fixed the spot.

Alex gave us a detailed quotation after meeting with us, made some suggestions on colors, laid out the plan, and his crew implemented it professionally, cleaning up each day and at the end. We had some repair work to do in two areas (doors and a long trim piece over the garage) and his crew came back months later and painted those items. He scheduled it with us, met the schedule, just right. Stellar work and quality. No complaints whatsoever. We are looking at some other work and will use his company again. I thought I had submitted this review quite some time ago, but somehow it didn't get published. Trying again.

They seemed very nice but based on how he answered my questions, I didn't feel comfortable because I didn't think they would do enough prep work. I knew my house needed more prep work. It sounded like they would just do the basics and they didn't concentrate on anything specific. I had to ask him about things like rusty nails and then he addressed it, whereas other companies addressed it right off the bat without me even having to ask them anything. I had some other quotes so I had to ask him about different areas. I wasn't satisfied with it. The house needed a lot of prep work and I wasn't happy with how he was going to do that. I had to dig answers out of him. He didn't really give specifics and what my problem areas were. His proposal was very general unlike some of the other proposals I got that were very detailed. I had to call him a couple of times in the beginning. He was early for the appointment.

It all went very well. The staff are professional, skilled painters who are careful in their work. They cleaned up every day, moved plants so they were not damaged and did an excellent job. Several neighbors complimented the painting team on how careful they were. And how thoughtful they were about not disturbing neighbors! We have some advice .We had some misunderstandings on color and some other minor matters in the early stages of the job , all of which Alex corrected. I would suggest putting the colors you want and the details of the job in writing to lessen the potential for misunderstandings. To Alex's credit, he made all the adjustments in a very professional manner and we are very pleased with the end result. It looks terrific.

It went very well. I got three estimates - 1 was very high and the other two were comparable with Alex's being one of those two. I was a little hesitant to using Alex since I wanted interior painting done and it seemed like he concentrated more on exterior painting. But he was very professional and provided a written quote which the other painter did not. I was moving out of the townhome and renting out and had a specific schedule to adhere to. Alex assured that he would get the work done on time which he did. I was very happy with the work overall.

Pros They came out quickly to provide estimate They completed work quickly in expected time-frame. Cons Used spray application but still ended up with uneven, rippled surface on custom made, high end cabinets. They asked me to go get the paint, rather than send their guys to get it. They left paint on new wood and marble floors. They delayed start of project 2 weeks from time they initally agreed to do work. Owner (who came to site to provide bid) did not perform work which resulted in communication problems on the job site, too much time for me to sort out.

They are very good. I love the work they did and I got a 10% discount for being an Angie's List member. I would definitely recommend them. They're estimate was higher than others, but they're a super-star provider and it's worth it.

Alex Yi gave us a quote to paint the exterior of our home, including arbors and picket fences. It wasn't the cheapest but Alex is professional and knowledgeable. The job started with days of extensive prep. Our house needed a lot of work, I think because the last paint job it had (7 years ago) was not done well. The workers arrived daily at 8:30am and worked hard all day until 5pm. We wanted to keep the same colors but the first color match was off and I was not happy with it. Alex did another color match and it was almost identical, plus he was nice about it even though he probably had to pay for all the extra paint. The job took about 2 weeks, the last day was rushed a bit and I notified Alex of a few details left undone, such as a light fixture not replaced, heavy urns not moved back and a wall section that looked incomplete. He promptly sent his workers back to resolve all the issues, and this was after I'd already paid him in full!! There were no over spray issues or dripped paint. Very high quality work. I'm a happy customer :).

The house looks great! After seeing what a good job Ace Painting did on the exterior, my husband and I plan to have them paint the interior too. From start to finish, the job went well. Alex provided a prompt estimate, even coming out Saturdays as needed. He was consistently on time, professional, and thorough at explaining what would happen at each stage of the job. References with addresses were provided so we were able to see other houses they’ve painted. The estimate was mid-range; fair for the amount of work required on a two-story house that hadn’t been painted in quite awhile. The crew was friendly and very hard working. They were detail oriented with the prep work. The paint job is perfect—no drips or slips of the brush. They were always on time and cleaned up thoroughly. We did have a concern when some of the window trim was painted the wrong color. However, when I told Alex about it, the crew corrected it quickly the same day. Thank you Alex and crew for caring about doing quality work.

I would have them again and would recommend them anytime.

I was impressed with Alex Yi when we first met. He was very cordial and told me in detail verbally everything they would do from start to finish. He told me immediately when they would start and stuck to the date. He returned to his office and gave me the same specific detail in writing that he did verbally, along with a quote. I did not seek a second or third quote based on my intuition and trust in Alex. His company and paint crew did a very professional job. Extremely thourough and detaied workl I would decidedly recommend Alex Yi and his Company Ace Painting.

Our home has needed to be painted for a while now. We joined Angie's List and our first use was to find a house painter. I contacted Alex of Ace Painting since I liked his reviews and he is also located in the same city as my home. He promptly responded to my request for a quote and after having met with him to access the job he emailed me a quote that night. Since I had mentioned that we came to discover him using Angie's List he also gave us a 10% discount! He gave us a very competitive quote for a 2 story house.(I had 3 other quotes to compare it against.) The initial quote had this as a 5 day job. The house was pressure spray washed, then scraped, sanded, and caulked. This preparation phase took about 2.5 days. The 3 man paint crew arrived promptly at 8am every day and cleaned up and left at approximately 5pm. They typically took 30 min lunch breaks at noon. Before they began painting they plastic masked off the windows and sliding patio doors. They also paper masked off the gutters and down drains since those could NOT be painted. During prep, it was discovered that some wood framing around the shower windows was dry rotted with possible termite infestation. The patio trellis was also determined to be dry rotted (45 year old trellis) and could still be painted or could have the 2x2 lengths replaced by the handiman Ace uses. I opted to have Alex's handiman give me a quote to replace the dry rotted trellis 2x2 pieces as well as having him repair the other dry rot issues that we'd discovered. Since the handiman was on vacation at this time, I had to wait a week to get the quote for this additional work. After I got the quote, which was reasonable, we scheduled when all the repairs would be made. Since I had family visiting I decided to schedule the work to be done after my visitors left. So repairs did not take place until 2 weeks later. The painters spray painted and roller painted the house (2 coats). They did a very thorough paint job using Kelley Moore paint. I had a sample of the old house paint color and asked them to match it which they did. After about 4.5 days of work, the house was painted. The handiman and his helper arrived at 7:30am and set up to work on the scheduled date. By 7:45am, they were taking down the rotted 2x2's of the trellis. Around 9am the delivery of the pallet of lumber was dropped off in my driveway. By 3:30pm that day the old trellis frame had fresh new 2x2's nailed in and all the other repairs had been completed. All the old lumber was removed and the areas all swept clean. 3 days later, a 2 man paint crew returned and primed then painted the trellis and repaired areas. The crew arrived at 8am and completed the job just before 6pm. They cleaned and swept the area and left me the leftover paint samples for any future touch ups I might need to do. Overall, this project went well. Since the timing was August - September, we did have good weather and the paint should cure well. I would use the services of Ace Painting and even this handiman again and would recommend them as well. They were professional and very easy to work with.
