The company stands by their work. When one of their previous repairs once again leaked, they came back and almost completely redid the repair at no charge (I think the flaw was the fault of a sub-contractor, not Gil Construction itself, but Gil still stood by the work). This was no small matter as the workers were here several days. I think the company is in the middle as far as price is concerned - not the most expensive, but not the cheapest either. But Ron Gil, the owner, is very responsive, knowledgeable and honest, and his workers are on the whole quite good. I would have given them perfect marks, but on a couple of occasions his workers were not quite as prepared as they should have been when they showed up to do some work. Not a big thing, but I had to provide some materials that they should have brought themselves. The office later reduced the cost because of this, so in the end this was a minor inconvenience.

My previous attempts to get the work done using recommendations from friends and neighbors were a failure. Both companies that I contacted looked at the work to be done and basically blew me off. No estimate and no response to my phone calls. This was my first experience with Angies list and I'm happy to report I actually found some companies interested in doing the work. The first estimate including painting was 30% higher than my budget. I decided to split the work and find a drywall contractor and a painter on my own. Gil Construction was prompt with the estimate and within my budget. The painting is schedule for next week, so I will comment on it separately. My experience with other contractors was mixed. One told me they were too busy right now. I can appreciate that they were honest and didn't try to fit me into an over-extended work schedule. Two others never bothered to return calls. As a small business owner myself (custom software), I can attest to the fact that you can't treat potential customers that way.

This was a very enjoyable project for me. I am a widow and Ron Gil and his crew never took advantage of me time or cost wise. This is a very honest and fair contractor and crew. I rented a place across the street from my condo so I was available everyday to see the progress and make decisions if necessary. I do recommend that if you are doing a remodel, don't leave town, be available to decide what you want. Being there I think keep things moving along in a timely manner. Ron answers his phone at all hours and quickly solves any problem that might pop up. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. It went extremely well. Mr. Gil provided performed the work on time, with minimal disruption to our activities. Despite the extensive foundation work, there was minimal interior activity. The workers were on time, polite, respectful, and neat. Mr. Gil accommodated a few minor 'change orders' without gouging us. In fact, he actually came in under bid. The quality of the work appeared to be very high. Minor complaints we had were quickly addressed.

Helped plan the work to be done and payment schedule. Made excellent suggestions on the design. Worked with the city to obtain the permit. Ordered the construction material. Performed the work while keeping the area reasonably tidy. While the work was being done, kept me informed on the progress in a timely fashion. The deck now feals flat and solid.

They came out and took a look. There was no charge for the assessment. They drew up the proposal and they were very good and helpful. They were great to work with, they got back to us quickly and they had some great insight and ideas. I don't know that we will use them because they were the higher quote but they were very helpful and they deserve an "A".
