The deck work was done on time and within the time frame quoted. The work was professional, and cleanup was very thorough. I was very impressed with amount of care and craftsmanship that was exhibited. More care was taken to build a foundation, cut and fit the boards, and build the railings than I was expecting and certainly more care than shown with the original deck that was replaced. I would highly recommend this company and plan to use them for any future work.

Based on the excellent reviews at Angie's List, contacted Mr. Jorge Perretti by email about my redwood deck repair/restoration. He responded promptly. An appointment for a site visit was set up and confirmed. However, he never showed up at the appointment time. After approximately 15 minutes past the appointment time I contacted him by phone and left a voicemail about the appointment. He never contacted me. If he was running late, or if he wanted to reschedule, or if he simply changed his mind about the job, he should have contacted me. But simply not showing up and wasting my time is completely unprofessional.

I would like to thank you and your staff doing great job! I am very pleased with the quality and work ethic of you and your company. I will highly recommend you to my friends w/o any hesitation for deck/fence projects.

I really enjoyed working with Jorge Perretti and his expert crew. My 40x20 patio has been completely transformed. Perretti specializes in decks and he really knows what he is doing. I like Jorge's business model because he specializes in one thing, keeps the quality extremely high and only has two jobs on at a time. He was often on site supervising and helping out. Liquid amber tree roots had destroyed my patio. I had Kelly Stump removal come twice, but Perretti still had to deal with the roots while digging the holes for the concrete piers. I had a 48 inch drop from my sliding glass door to the neighbor fence, so Perretti first constructed a 30 foot retaining wall to bring the grade up 24 inches. 10 Concrete piers had to be poured to support the frame. The deck was built up to the same level as my sliding glass door for the outdoor living room effect. The setback area was left at the new grade level. For this project, my HOA required all necessary permits. Because the proposed deck was larger than 200 square feet a permit was required. Jorge was willing to work with the City of Palo Alto Planning Dept where 4-5 other contractors either outright refused to work with CofPA or added more cost than Jorge did. I really appreciate Jorge's efforts because the City of Palo Alto didn't have its act together and kept changing their story when it came to how much setback was required. Jorge hung in there, stayed calm and made it happen despite the fact that CofPA wasted his time and his crew's time. The cost was reasonable. I added some extras like high end composite, picture framing and redwood privacy lattice. When issues came up Jorge had good solutions for them. On a couple of items I wanted things done differently and he was easy to work with. The quality of workmanship is extremely high. The job required three inspections - one for the concrete piers, one for the framing and one for the completed deck. I was present for the first one. The city inspector said that the work looked great and that it was his easiest inspection all day with no followup required. Again, the City of Palo Alto wasted Jorge's time because their online inspection scheduling system didn't work properly and Jorge and his crew wasted an entire morning waiting for them to show up. As far as workmanship is concerned I can find no flaw whatsoever and the deck looks beautiful. On completion, Jorge and his crew cleaned up really well. I've gotten a lot of compliments on my new deck from friends and neighbors and I love spending time out there now. I recommend Jorge Perretti very highly.

Jorge and his team are fantastic. Jorge gave me a number options to replace a my very sad, failing old deck and came up with a design that turned out wonderfully. Jorge showed me photos of his past jobs and we copied elements from those and built a custom bamboo pergola that provides shade, but is also waterproof. I went with the ipe hardwood option and cable/wood railings. They are true craftsmen, and were thoughtful about results. Whether it was using spacers, lining up boards, or sanding to perfection, Jorge and his team delivered a beautiful deck. I now have a tropical, modern deck that adds a lot value to my house. I have worked with a lot of contractors., and this was one of, if not the best experiences I have had. Jorge is extremely talented and creative. and he came in on time and on budget. The results are amazing. I would hire him again. A++

I was very, very impressed by Jorge Perretti and his crew. From our very first site survey, he was forthwright and knowledgable about Ipe decks. Prior to learning about him, I had had several landscaping contractors and deck builders come out and bid it. I also had researched as many of the details as I could to be able to do it on my own with my local favorite carpenter (who didn't have a lot of experience with Ipe). Prior to Perretti's involvement, I drew up all the decking and framing plans, had my carpenter do a mock up, ordered all the lumber and other supplies, built the framing, and installed most of the underdeck drainage irrigations lines. However, by the time it finally came time to start laying the deck, I was already 3 weeks into my 5 week construction window, with a pretty hard deadline on the tail end. There was now way my carpenter, helper, and I would be able to finish in time to allow it to be stained and dry by the deadline. Perretti and crew saved the day. He came and looked at the site with me, confirming most of my reasearch about fastening/staining/moisture etc., and added extra info where needed. He suggested a few more improvements that we could work on in the one intervening day before his crew could start (for example, adding Hot-Dipped galv nails to each joint and not just relying on the coated screws for the PT framing) and agreed to provide me with 2 guys for 3 days alongside my own labor to make my one week deadline. (He very accurately predicted that it would be tight but doable with an experienced crew of 4 in one week.) Once on the job, Jorge made frequent visits to the site (about twice per day, sometime staying several hours and working alongside his crew or figuring out tricky details). Javier and Carlos were the main two workers he had come, and I found them both prompt, quite easy to communicate with, and good workers with a speed we could never match and a nice level of craft. On the first morning, he got the bulk of the boards laid out enough to realize I was several long boards short of what I needed and went and got just about the perfect amount to be able to complete the job without slowing it down while still allowing us to be able to not use boards that were warped or too much of an outlying color. When I suddenly was not able to have my carpenter for one day, he provided a few extra crew members that day and was willing to come back for another few hours after our agreed upon time-line to help ensure that we would complete in time. I gladly paid him more than our agreed upon price a hopefully fair amount because I really feel that he came through for me. (We are still wrapping up the carpentry details as I write this, and I'm holding my breath on the stainers... but the Perretti part is done, done well, and done fast.

They did excellent structural work. They were very professional. I was very impressed with the work he did. In fact, the building inspector who signed on his work told me straight upfront that they did an excellent job. They basically did everything I requested. In a construction project, sometimes we needed to make revisions along the way, but they suggested alternatives and I approved them. Their workers were very conscientious, friendly and courteous. They also cleaned up really well at the end of each day. I would use them again for the resurfacing of my deck later on because it is a wood deck. It needs sealing every year or so. So, I would definitely use them.
