I got a few estimates and Mike seemed the most trustworthy and honest as well as giving me a fair price. I'm sure glad I chose to go with Mike's landscaping, he did a great job and went above and beyond by adding in some extras and giving me a few good ideas that I didn't think of as well as helping me with a couple extras that he didn't even charge me for. Mike is a great guy who does great work! You can trust him and his helper was also a nice guy who did good work as well very respectful and professional. Look no further Mike's landscaping is who you want on your landscaping project.

Signed up for special deal. Left a message after a week of no contact from business. Call returned 2 days later. Unfortunately deal could not be honored as business was too far out of my area for services needed. Mike was very nice and professional when we finally spoke on the phone. Feel he could have been more responsive to a potential client.

The relocation of the one was done well. The removal of one other was done well, but then the removal of the remaining 6 sagos wasn't done very well. Then the clean up wasnt done very well at all. But then I asked them to take out one other pear tree and that was done well I guess .... I'll know better when I see if that tree starts growing back next spring.

Mike was great. He was clear on when he would be troubleshooting at an hourly rate (reasonable as we didn’t know what or where the problem was) and when he working on the rest of the project at the flat rate. He was very clean and thorough and I couldn’t be happier with the finished product!

The sod installion was fine. Mike showed up on time and completed in the time he specified. The sprinkler repair was not. He claimed there was nothing wrong with the sprinklers even though I told him the valve was damaged and needed to be replaced. He said if I had any other issues to give him a call. About 10days after work was completed I contacted him with pictures of our dying sod due to the sprinkler valve being faulty. He said he would come by to look at it, we set up an appointment, but never showed. After that he wont return my calls or texts. I decided to fix the valve myself.

This is our third large job Mike and team have completed for us and it won't be our last. I'm very happy with their quality of work, their honest, genuine work ethic, and their expertise & advice. We wanted to match our current pool decking and landscaping and Mike and team did so flawlessly; better than expected and the job was completed on time and at the exact amount quoted in the contract. The end result is not only functional for our chosen space, but it's gorgeous! We will be using Mike's Landscaping again, and I would recommend him! Message me if you'd like to see pictures- the fire pit is beautiful!

Mike gave us a free quote and quickly sent us a proposed contract. We agreed and he gave us a date that he had free. He even had a cancellation and called asking if we'd like to move the date up a day. He showed up with his team mid afternoon and by the time I came home from work the trees were gone. No damage to the yard or home. No leftover trash, leaves, dirt etc. and best yet, the stumps were gone too!

The initial work went fine. Mike, his son Vince, and Dave, another workman removed the ivy and created nice beds with drip irrigation, a root barrier (to prevent the ivy from returning), and a mulch covering. They brought in and planted the plants we requested, although the myrtle tree we requested for the lawn was way too tall to be against the fence, and once it was in it was too late to do anything else without extra cost. The turf they laid was responded well, however, it wasn't laid deeply enough in existing soil such that the lawn has two different levels - the old and the new, which will take some time to resolve into one level. They worked hard and completed the initial work quickly and within their time estimate. In general, Mike did what we asked, but won't contribute much in terms of recommending what will look nicest and fit the best. My biggest complaint is Mike fulfilling his contract. The contract says "We will follow-up for 4 weeks 1 time a week upon completion to insure the landscape and plants are ok. Any necessary adjustments (that we may have overlooked at the time of installation) and all needed maintenance will be taken care of by our crew at no additional cost." This was one of the attractive and deciding factors in doing business with him. It has now been six weeks since completion of the work and I have not seen hide nor hair of Mike's Landscaping, despite numerous phone calls, emails, and text messages. Mike responded to one email saying he would let me know his schedule the following week, and I didn't hear about that. He also answered a text three weeks ago saying he would come the following day, and I haven't heard from him since. Thus, he has totally blown off his contract obligation for follow-up. Even though the price and the initial work was good, I would not recommend Mike's Landscaping because of Mike's total lack of professionalism in completely violating the follow-up provisions of his contract.
Description of Work: We wanted some re-landscaping in our backyard, and some turf repair in the back and front. This included removing ivy from the perimeter of the backyard, creating a plating bed and bringing in new plants, as well as repairing the existing lawn sprinkler system and adding drip irrigation to the new beds.

We have been looking to have our backyard landscaped for a year. We started with just a few palms and dirt. After calling several landscapers, we had almost given up hope. Their quotes were outrageous, and the people very unreliable. We were worried we may be stuck with our dirt, unitil we contacted Mike. The first day we met Mike, he was articulate and professional. He took the budget that we had to work with, along with our vision for our yard and worked magic. His estimate was realilistic, and included everything we wanted. The timeframe for completion was perfect, and was available for consult every step of the way. During the process, he would ask if we approved of work, he even made changes to the yard, not included in the quote, because it looked better. Mike and his son are honest and hardworking. They make themselves available every step of the day, and they are masters of their craft. We will continue to seek Mike out for future work because of his professionalism, work ethic, and performance.

Mike and his son Vince performed the inspections and the repairs. Prompt, friendly and fair they took their time to explain exactly what was being done and what they discovered when they located the breaks. They only cut out what was necessary and were very thorough in their repairs. Their experience was evident in their work and I would highly recommend them to others in the future. The end price was much lower than the original estimate and was very fair. The repairs should significantly decrease the water usage we had, and we have some other ideas to further decease the water usage in our yard. We will most definitely call Mikes Landscaping to make it happen and look forward to having them at our home in the future. Thank you for the wonderful service and very positive experience. It's great to be able to use a locally owned small business and get the quality of work that you could never dream of getting from a large corporation.

Mike's Landscaping currently maintains my lawn and landscaping on a weekly basis, and I pay monthly for the service. Christian is the gentleman who takes care of our lawn; he is timely, professional and knowledgable. I was speaking with my neighbors this weekend who are having a nightmare with their current gardener being ineffective, not showing up, requesting monthly payments for service not rendered (retainer), etc. Needless to say, I've given our neighbor Mike's Landscaping contact as I would recommend their services to anyone inquiring.

Bottom line: He's a scam artist. As you'll see from his reply below, he has a story for everything. … saying that I used someone else's account to find him and get a deal, yet clearly this is my account and Angie's List knows this. And the deal he offered was the hourly scam. A '2 hour consultation' that took about 25 minutes... and now, it's 5 months later and more than half of the sprinkler heads he installed now leak or broke. Good luck to you folks looking for someone great. There’s gotta be some out there. Here's what happened and is still happening! First of all, I used MY OWN ANGIE'S LIST ACCOUNT. I've had an account for years so I have no idea what this nutjob is talking about. I had just bought a house that came with a complete in-ground sprinkler system already installed on my property. Shrubs, trees, etc. were all looking ok, but I wanted to get everything checked out and, where necessary, have repairs made. I found Mike's on Angie's List and he seemed to be competent and experienced enough to check my system out. After explaining that I wanted him to look at and assess my system and make repairs where necessary, he said it would be cheaper for me to pay him by the hour instead of bidding it as a job. I don't know what happened with my brain that day, but I agreed. He came on day #1 and, after a few hours, told me that some of my sprinklers were facing the wrong direction and wasting water. He suggested installing a drip line instead of using the sprayer-type sprinklers. Since we're in a serious drought, and he described it as an easy project, I agreed. At the end of that first day, he told me he would have to come back to complete the job, but it would have to be after the 4th of July as he was going away. Fine. The holiday came and went, but a week after the 4th I still had not received a call or email from him. I emailed him and he replied, "I'm working on my schedule for next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday morning. I will let you (know) tonight." Of course, I never heard from him. A week later, I emailed him asking if I should hire someone to complete the job as I hadn't heard from him. He replied "The rain set me back a little. I can come out tomorrow late morning early afternoon." He showed up! But he had another person with him - his assistant. Great, I thought, this will make it go faster = cheaper since it's hourly. During that day, it came out that this kid was "just learning." So now, not only was I paying for Mike's time performing the work, I was now also paying him to teach this kid how to do the work. Even though they were here all day, the job was still not finished. He said he would be here "first thing tomorrow." Still no sign of him at 2:30 the next day, I called to see where he was and left him a voicemail. An hour later he showed up - again with the assistant - and they (supposedly) completed the job. Before he left, I showed him that one of the sprinklers was shooting in the wrong direction. (Wasn't this taken care of on day #1 during the assessment?) They spent another hour changing one sprinkler's direction! AN HOUR TO CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF ONE SPRINKLER HEAD! He then hands me a bill for nearly $900 (on top of the $400 I paid the first day). I was shocked. I was already late for an appointment so I told him to please finish and clean up and close my driveway gate so my dog could not get out. I returned an hour later. Not only were Mike and his "assistant" gone, and parts left all over the ground, but the driveway gate was open and my dog was gone! It took me 4 hours of searching, posting to various websites and calling police, shelters, etc., but I got my dog back. Upon closer inspection of his bill, I saw that he charged me for twice the # of hours he worked, so not only did I pay Mike for his time teaching his "assistant" but he was billing me for the ASSISTANT'S time! When I asked him about that, and said you can't just bring someone else along - heck why not bring 6 people along so everyone can make money off of me - he said "Fine. Then my hourly rate is now $X (30% more)." Changing agreed upon rates? Bringing extra people along who he wants me to pay?? People who don't know anything about irrigation??? A bad story, right? It wasn't over. The following morning, I woke up to barely a few drops of water coming out of my faucets. I looked outside my kitchen window and saw a flood of water on the ground, flowing all the way down the driveway and down the street. At the same time, my phone rang and it was DWA (local water department) letting me know that water was flowing from my property, down the street, all the way to the next major thoroughfare. I called a different contractor who came over, looked at the work Mike had done, (including 2 cuts Mike had made into pvc piping that leads from the valve), exhaled, paused and said "What a crap job!" He stopped the water from flowing and replaced one of the valves Mike had just installed which had already gone bad. Not only did Mike leave the entire drip line exposed above ground, he left UNCAPPED, BARE ELECTRIC WIRES directly next to the valves. I informed Mike of all of this and he said that, if someone else touched his 'work' then his warranty was void. (A warranty for a hack job?) I would not let him on my property again - and I STRONGLY suggest that other Angie's List customers do the same! Oh - and I'm still getting invoices from him saying "PAST DUE." Really? The only thing past due is his knowledge, ability and professionalism to do quality work, fairly and honestly. I have started the process with Angie's List Complaint Resolution Program so hopefully the harassment from him will cease. No doubt he will respond with baloney, but with the paperwork, electronic paper trail and voicemail messages, the proof is in the evidence and on my hard-drive.
Description of Work: He was hired to assess and repair any broken sprinklers. He later convinced me that I should install a drip line to save water.

Upon initial contact from [Member name removed] he told me he found us from Angie's List. I went out to his property and met with him and talked about his concerns with the irrigation system. I gave him a FREE 2 hour consultation and inspection, ($130.00 value). We then discussed the options to correct them, (#1 Modify the existing system or #2 install a new system at a minimum cost of $2,000.00 plus), and he told me he had used a friends membership to find our company and wanted to know if I would work a deal with him directly, I said yes, my normal rate is $65 per man hour and I would go down to $60 per man hr plus parts and I would use what parts of his that I could to save him money. On my first visit I had to go purchase parts (which took 1 1/2 hrs that I did NOT bill him for). I worked 3 3/4 hrs @ the rate of $60 per hr plus parts totaling $353.48 which he paid for. I also told him all my work is guaranteed for workmanship and manufacture defects. This only completed at best 1/4 of his property. He was so happy with the work that he could not wait for me to return and complete the rest of the irrigation. I returned 4 wks later with my apprentice and went to work, we did not finish that day and informed [Member name removed] we would be back the following afternoon. We returned and completed the requested work and I walked around and showed [Member name removed] everything we had done and cleaned up, he was more then pleased and happy with the work that he even invited us to stay and enjoy his pool. When I talked with him about the final payment he became livid, which really surprised me. Not only did I drop the hourly rate down to $40 per hour I also gave him an additional $175 discount clearly stating my apprentice was still in the learning process not to mention the parts were sold to him at cost not the normal 25% mark up. He gave me a check for $400 and said he would have to get me the balance at a later date and walked in the house and shut the door on me. I was taken aback, made sure the front entry door was closed and left. He later called me and said the back electric gate was left open and his dog got out. The gate remote was located in his garage, how am I suppose to close it??? He informed me a few days later he had some pipe break and water was being wasted, I asked him why I wasn't called to repair it, it would not have costed him any money I warranty my work, however if you have someone else do repairs to it before calling me first all warranty is null and void. The drip tubing was not burried due to the fact he wanted to rake the leaves out from under the bushes and stated he was going to put mulch down, also if we had dug into the soil we would have had to cut thousands of roots (this causing damage to his bushes that he addored). His statement several times were "They are the reason I purchased this house"

I purchased the Big Deal on September 3rd and contacted the provider later that, as well as on the 4th, 5th, & earlier today (the 8th) both via email and by leaving a voicemail. I have yet to hear back from the provider initially. I have contacted Angie's List, they offer no resolution. They offer nothing. They will only offer to make me start over with another provider or refund my money. This experience has been the worst of this type of service providing I have ever had.
