I apologize for the delay. The order was purchased through AL by Member as a Big Deal, one of AL marketing programs. But her home is currently outside our service area. This is a glitch in the AL marketing department that sometimes occurs (AL will accept an order, charge the customer, w/o regard to our service area). I made certain that Member got a refund.

We bought a voucher from Angie's List for this vendor. Apparently the promotion was pretty successful, because they were quite busy when it came time to scheduling. That was admittedly kind of frustrating. We agreed to a service date maybe 2 weeks out, but we never heard back from the scheduler. So we called him back, he explained that they were busy, but we explained that we wanted our service in the timeframe we discussed. They were able to get someone out to provide our services right away after that. The service tech was really good. He called us from the road to give us a 30 minute advance notice of his arrival. He was consciences and really seemed to care about what he was doing, and we were very pleased with the service, which was ultimately the most important thing. So while we got off to a bit of rocky start with the scheduling, the service provided was top notch and we felt like it was a good value.

I bought a coupon on Angie's list for cleaning HVAV and 8-air ducts for $199. Overall the experience was. good. The only thing I found unprofessional was that they took over a week to schedule the appointment. Once the appointment was scheduled everything was smooth. On the day of the appointment, there was miscommunication on the time slot that we were supposed to work together. However, the air duct pro technician patiently waited for an hour. And once he got started he did a thorough job working hard for over 3 hours.

I couldn't be happier with my experience with this company. We called the company based on a recommendation from my husbands allergist. Ed was so nice on the phone when I was scheduling the appointment, and Rich, who came to do the cleaning was so friendly and helpful. Everything went just as stated in the description and they never tried to sell me anything extra. We are renting a house, and it was not well maintained so we were able to see how dirty the filter was and what we had been breathing! Rich even creatively figured out a way for us to use a normal inexpensive filter instead of a $200 filter that was designed for the unit. My husband says he can already feel the difference in the air quality. It felt like they really cared about their work. Very nice people and a very honest company!

The service was top notch. The were responsive to my phone calls and were prompt for the appointment. Very honest services tech. Before he performed service he inspected all of my airducts and then crawled in the attic on a very hot day. I was informed my ducts were in not safe to perform cleaning since I have asbestos lined insulation. I really appreciate the fact that he was looking out for my families well being and not his wallet.

Sorry for the delay Member. Due to the response of our most recent special and combined with techs on vacation, we were a little slow in scheduling everyone. We have since gotten the member on our schedule to get the service performed.

Miguel showed up on time and finished in 90 minutes. He was very pleasant to work with and was happy to answer any of my questions.
Description of Work: Miguel cleaned 11 vents using the industrial vacuum, brushed the interior of all vents and cleaned the furnace/forced-air-unit. I used the $249 special that included 10 vents, furnace cleaning, dryer vent and sanitizing. Each additional vent was $25 and I did one.

They brought a machine out and cleaned everything out. They even showed you some of the debris when it is in their machine. It is however, difficult to notice a different in the air quality. They did in fact clean it though. They were good people and they certainly seemed to know what they were doing.

It went great! When I called, Ed Mack described in detail what would be done and how it all worked. I decided to do this as my dog has developed severe allergies and since the ducts haven't been cleaned such i bought my home I thought it was well worth it. Charles arrived exactly on time and set up his equipment in a methodical way. He showed me how it all worked and instilled great confidence in me. Even though my house is tiny, (about 1400 sq. feet), he spent the better part of the day here and took his time to make sure no stone was left unturned. Then he did the ducts to my guest house which is also small but he said they really needed it. Anyhow, from start to finish my experience with Charles was fantastic. Would use him again in a heart beat!!!

I purchased the Angie's List offer because my family has allergies. I figured that cleaning the air ducts might help, and it certainly would not hurt. After I paid my money, I attempted to call the company. A machine answered and said the company would get back to me as soon as possible. I left a message with my information. I did not hear back for about a week. I decided to let this go because I already paid for the service and I did not want to get off on the wrong foot. I scheduled the service for a noon to 2:00 p.m. slot. The truck arrived a couple minutes late, but that was not a problem. I showed the lead worker the air registers and he told me I had to pay an extra $50.00 because the offer was only for 8 registers and there is a $25.00 charge for additional registers. I said okay. Going through my house now, I find that I have 9 registers and not 10. So, it appears I was overcharged by $25.00. Maybe there is some explanation for this like they are including the furnace intake as a register, but that certainly was not explained to me. The workers completed their work and left after collecting the additional $50.00. I had to get back to work, so I was not able to do a thorough inspection. When I returned home that afternoon after work, I was very surprised at the amount of debris left on the floor, carpet, furniture, and even my computer. There was dirt, drywall bits, insulation, and hair under every register in the house. I spent 30 minutes vacuuming to clean it all up. I have had general contractors come and do major remodeling work and clean up better. In my opinion, this is a big failure on the part of this company. I do not recommend Air Duct Professionals because they do not act as professionals in returning phone messages, pricing and explanation of services, or returning your home to the way it was before they came. Since the entire point of having this company come to my house was to have a cleaner environment for my family, the fact they left the house so dirty is a huge problem.

I am sorry for the negative experience. I never recieved a call from this Member about this complaint. I always return calls as promptly as possible. We usually don't have any of these issues occur at all. The first thing we do is go over the charges up front, so you know what you are being charged for. Leaving the amount of debris behind on floors and furniture as you described, as a result of removing the registers, is not a part of our quality service and should not have ever happened. I apologize that we were not as neat as you would have liked us in your home. This is a failure of our quality policy.

I used a coupon from Angie's list, and made an appointment. They came on time, and did everything they were supposed to do, along with some extra work that they didn't charge me for. The worker who came also was totally at ease with our pets, and our household chaos.
Description of Work: Air Duct Professionals cleaned my air ducts, and also went beyond the call of duty by reattaching several ducts that had become disconnected. and fixing some vents that weren't working. The worker that came out explained everything that he did, and also told me how to change a dyer exhaust hose. He was very friendly and helpful. I kept their card and would definitely use them again!

It took a couple of calls to get a hold of Ed Mack. I spoke with him and he said that his phones were down which is why no one called back. He asked how large my home was and he said it would take longer to do the service because of the size of the home (never mentioned that it would cost more $ to do the service). The next day one technician shows up and explaines that the deal is only for 8 air ducts and it would be $25 extra for additional vents. I showed the Angies list coupon and that it did not mention anything about additional charges. He showed me his Purchase Order which said $25.00 for additional vents. He suggested that he do only one of the vents in the rooms that had two vents. The total of the additional vents was $150.00 for 9 more vents. He suggested that as a compromise rather than doing the entire house for an additional $250. Also, he said that my filters were much better than the ones he had and recommended that I keep the ones I have. At the end of the service, I pointed out that there had been black debris left all over the stairs and also on the area rug in the hallway. He tried to clean it and said he will be back tomorrow to clean the carpet and rug. I pointed out that there was a very large hole in the hose of the vacuum. I told him that I was begining to get a headaches from dust being kicked back into the air from the machine. He mentioned that he would have to fix the hose. I told him that I would not be paying the balance of the service until Ed Mack calls me back and we can discuss the service. The tech left the house. I left a message for Ed Mack telling him I was very unhappy with the service and would not pay the balance of the work that was performed. I told him to call me back. I called Angies list and they said to give him a chance to resolve the problem. We will see if Ed Mack calls back!
Description of Work: I purchased the $199.00 deal of the day to have the air ducts and furnace cleaned, sanitized, new filters put in. Also, purchased the $69.00 to have dryer vent cleaned. The tech only cleaned 17 of the 25 air ducts and did not change filters.

You purchased a deal from Angies List on July 27 a Friday. We got you scheduled on August 1st a Wendsday. That's only 3 days from the time you ordered to the day we got you scheduled. The deal you purchased was for 8 vents and 1 furnace cleaning. It is detailed very clearly on the AL coupon before you purchase it. It also states that additional coupons can be bought for larger homes (yours was 4000 sq ft) with more than 8 vents and more than 1 furnace, otherwise, it states, that additional vents are charged at their normal rates. Some black debris (from a worn bearing from a peice of equipment, since fixed) did get onto the stairs and another area. The tech told you we would come the next day and have the area professionally cleaned with a truck mounted carpet cleaning machine, at no cost to you. I returned your call that same day to arrange this, but you refused the service, saying you had cleaned it yourself. The small hole in the equipment, just happened and was quickly repaired. It is a vacuum line, not an exhaust and would not cause your headaches, because it is not exhausting any dirt or dust into the air. The tech tried to do his best to perform the services outlined in that special and clean just 8 vents and 1 furnace in a 4000 square foot home, with several furnaces and dozens of air registers. I am only disappointed that the technician did not call the office to allow us to clarify that special and to point out what was very clear on the coupon you purchased. If there would have still been an issue, I would have offered a refund. Anyone else who has purchased this same special has never complained about additional charges, concerning additional vents or furnaces, as it is clearly defined on the coupon. I did not ask you to pay us the money on the extra vents (over the 8) or the dryer vent you had the technician clean while in your home.

Making the appointment was easy. The crew arrived on time and worked a full day.I have a large home so it was a big job. The guy sold me on custom filters, but I was hesitent because I wasn't sure how to install them. He said he would come out and show me when they came in, I did tell him I would reimburse him for his time since this guy came from Moreno Valley (BIG MISTAKE). Well, I was called by this guys niece while I was in MS June 19 to let me know the filters were in. I told her to call me in 5 days I would be home. A week later I called the number she left and left a message that I was home. I didn't hear anything July 3rd my father passed away so I had family things going on, but I never received a call back (I left two messages at this time). On 7-18-12 I called the owner at the main number. I was really concerned that I had these flimsy "temp" filters in my units now for going on 3 months and I was running my air conditioners (I have 3). The owner was great and he got the guy on it immediately. He asked if he could come down the next day (7-19-12) at 10 -11 am I knew I had something going on but I had my assistant at my home so I knew she could let him in. So I'm driving to my appointment and I get a call from my 12 y/o son. He telling me the guy needs to be paid. I told him to I paid in full 2337.00 on 5-10-12. No, he wants his "trip charge" for the installation. I was like WHAT ?... really ? OK how much 175.00 . He said because gas is high from Moreno Valley. Mind you I have a handy man I hire for 30.00/hr that would have done that. I agreed to a small fee. I guess you should keep that in mind when hiring these guys that a trip charge to install CUSTOM filters that you ordered from them costs to get them put in as well. I was really upset ...because the FIRST excuse this guy used for not getting back to me was Brittany (his niece) had a death in the family. YEA...I was not in the frame of mind to hear that, since my father just died...FOR REAL. Then he told me she moved to No.CA . I had also left the message that they didn't put the Bathroom exhaust fan cover on in the front guest BR. The bathroom is one of 7 and is the front of the house and really used so it's not a daily reminder. I was so flustered by the fact I got the run around and the enormous "trip charge" that I forgot to tell him to put the exhaust cover back on. So I have to hire someone to do that now AND to top it off I wrote a check (I told him I would put it in the mail that day) they don't have a complete address on their invoices...on angies list OR their website. So since I was here looking for an address to send this crazy check to I thought I would do my review. ANOTHER cost is calling my plumber out to check on a gas line that he messed with. He put on the receipt that he fixed a leaking gas line on the furnace (no charge). I just had the water heaters and furnaces checked (I did a wonderful review on those guys) . I have a nose like a hound dog. I smell gas really easily. I had been using that garage and I would have smelled it....UNLESS he knocked it...don't know for sure. SO Bottom line...I was a full day job that cost 2512.00 I would have been happier if I had better communication and that follow up and through was good. He did what a lot of contractors do to me...Look at my big house then find a way to gouge me. NOW this is not the owner, but one of his Sub's. again the owner seemed really nice and on the ball. I will upload pictures of the exhaust fan in my VERY formal bathroom. You can see how they had to have just rushed out to not have noticed the cover on my Gold sink. WANTED TO ADD THAT ED MACK THE OWNER CALLED ME BACK WITH MY CONCERNS... He is VERY professional and seems very honest. I am an employer and I know that you can't always be everywhere, but the buck stops with the owner. I am hoping that his subcontractor has learned not to have his teenage assist in charge of his contacts. The lack of communication is an issue. My fan cover is STILL not on the ceiling, but when I get started on my other projects I will have it fixed.

I know there are a lot of negative things in this review. I would like to clear some of them up. First of all, we do not look at the size of a home and then decide to 'gouge' you. We DO NOT GOUGE ANYONE. You have a VERY LARGE home. We only charged you what was supposed to be charged, according to how many systems and air vents that you had. You state in your review this, that you have a very large home. I do not know what kind of confusion occurred regarding installing your special air filters, but I do know that the technician, went out of his way to please you, in that he told you if you could not install the filters, he would do it. All he asked for was for his gas, which was about $35 dollars. Since this job, I no longer allow my techs to go back out to install filters. As far as the bathroom exhaust fan, we did not place that housing on top of the sink. We did forget to put it back in place. but SOMEONE else placed it on top of your sink. I am sorry that you had a death in the family which necessitated your leaving the state. This may have contributed to the confusion of installing the filters and for the so called trip fee ($35). As far as the gas line to the furnace. This technician is very good. If he says there was a gas leak at the pigtail, then I believe him. He merely tightened the connection, which causes no damage. Natural gas, keep in mind is dangerous and can cause death. Again, he did a favor and tightened the fitting. He didn't have to, but he did. He didn't charge you for that. And pointed out that it needed further attention. I am not trying to make any excuses here. But essentially, there is NO complaint of workmanship. The complaint centers around electrostatic filters and the scheduling fiasco of installing them. That is why I forbid any of my technicians to sell and then promise to come back to install them. I am sorry there was some negative things in this review. But I will reiterate, that my company DOES NOT LOOK AT THE SIZE OF YOUR HOME AND THEN DECIDE TO GOUGE YOU. If your home is 7000 sq ft, it is going to have a lot of extra vents and FAU units to clean. All costs are discussed up front before we come into your home.

I used this company with an Angie's Deal voucher. I rated him a "C" for professionalism because when he arrived (not when he scheduled the service) he told me that I would need to pay extra for the vents that were not covered in the deal. He also tried to ask me to pay extra for mileage (because they drove over an hour to my house) but I told him I would not pay extra since he hadn't disclosed it before they arrived. He brought his son and the two of them set up their equipment, removed the vents and vacuumed out the ducts. A large vacuum was set up downstairs and supposedly cleaned the dust from the ducts through out my house. They removed and dusted each vent and the interior area that could be reached by hand. I don't know if I would actually know if they did a great job unless I climbed up into the vent to check the dust myself but, since their service, my son, who suffers from asthma and allergies, has been much better. They arrived on time and spent about an hour cleaning.

It went very well. They came on time, explained in detail how he would go about cleaning our air ducts and vents, performed the service and even went beyond expectation. For example, they screwed in vent covers that were previously held up caulking and paint, vacuumed a very filthy fan in one of the bathrooms, and explained in detail what would be a fire hazard and the importance of cleaning out the dryer vent as a preventive measure. He even explained what preventitive measures we can take ourselves to prevent fires. They seemed very concern for our safety and that is what impressed me most. He even went on top of the roof to see how the lint from the dryer vent was escaping and found that it was covered by a mesh that was causing perhaps most of the bulid up. Thank you Air Duct Professionals for your very excellent and kind service!

They arrived on time and were professional and respectful. They did a great job cleaning our air ducts and cleaned out construction debris from when the home was built 15 years ago. Our home smells better and the central fan seems to be stronger. We are very happy with their services and will use them again.

It didn't go at all. Tech missed two apps, and I cancelled the service
Description of Work: While Mr Mack was completely professional and responsive upon my purchase of this Big Deal, unfortunately the person he was sending out WAS NOT. The first scheduled appointment, was a no show becuse of technician's "car trouble". We rescheduled a second time and as the last minutes ticked by for their arrival, I received a call from the technician who sounded like a Surfer Dude who was at least an hour's drive away, telling me he had an accident on the freeway, and was waiting for CHP to arrive Instinct and experience told me I was not going to try for a third time. I called Mr Mack and asked for a refund, he didnt sound very happy and pretty much hung up on me They are not local, and this service tech was coming from somewhere in San Bernardino county. Next time I will go straight to Sears. At least I know I will be getting a pro to perform the service Will see if I get my refund. This was my first experience with an Angie's List Big Deal, and I have to say I am a little skeptical now moving forward

I wasn't unhappy about giving you a refund and I did not hang up on you...I was abrupt with you, because I wasn't aware our technician was involved in an accident! He called you before he called us, to ask if you still wanted to keep the appointment. However, because it was a severe accident that involved a few vehicles, he needed to remain on the scene, untill CHP could arrive. He was rear-ended and pushed into a vehicle in front of him. I'm not sure what a 'surfer dude' sounds like, but it may be that his normal speech was slighted, because he may have been in a state of shock, when he called you. I did not want a tech to perform work which is physical after being involved in this type of accident, especially when the vehicle was not safe to drive. I am sorry that we could not keep the appointment. We have done many jobs for Angies List members over the years and have an excellent track record for showing up on time and performing quality workmanship.

When I called, Ed explained to me the procedures of air duct cleaning. He was courteous and professional. He was also very flexible with the time that is convenient for me.George and a co-worker called before they came. They were very courteous and explained to me how the system worked and the procedures it involved. They started working upon arrival. They had two filter for the two Returns. I am comfortable with them. I am glad to have hired a professional team who knows what they are doing. They did their work, I paid them , and we were all happy. However, now that I read other reviews, I wished I knew to ask them to also clean the central air system...so it would be completely clean.

The representative returned my call and we set up a time for them to come out and do the work. He was very courteous and professional over the phone. The workers arrived promptly on the day and proceeded to set up their equipment. The lead worker and I counted all the registers, and the lead man suggested I include the 3 fans in my bathrooms as well. There were 10 registers included in the deal. My home totalled 15, so an additional charge would apply for the 2 additional registers and the 3 bath fans. The process involves a large vacuum/fan unit that is attached to one of the main registers. The workers then go from one register to another, inserting a helicopter-like rotating brush attachment on the end of a cable that they then feed up into the ducts to dislodge any accumulated dust and gunk, which then supposedly gets sucked into the central vacuum. At one point in the process, a put my hand up inside one of the openings as far as I could to see if I could feel any suction. I could barely feel any. I also observed that the main vacuum unit didn't seem to have a place for the dust to be stored. I have a shop in my garage and am familiar with shop vacs and dust collection systems, which have collection containers or bags for the dust to go into, so this seemed odd to me. I had to remind the workers about the dryer vent. I showed them where it was, and they supposedly cleaned that as well. After they said they were done, I paid them $160 more to cover the additional 5 registers/bath fans. (He gave me a $40 discount, originally quoting me $200 for extra registers/vent fans, probably because of the filter situation, which I describe later.) A few days after they had finished, I was doing laundry for the first time since the duct/vent cleaning, and I noticed my dryer was not working. There was no real heat in the drum. I went outside while the dryer was in operation and put my hand up against the vent. There was little to no air coming out. I made a long hook out of a wire coat hanger and inserted up into the vent from the outside, and found a great deal of damp lint was still clogging the vent. I got out the aforementioned shop vac, shoved the hose up into the vent as far as I could and removed a large amount of dryer lint. The dryer worked fine after that. All the workers accomplished, apparently, was dislodging the lint and blocking the vent...but they did not CLEAN the vent. Very disappointing, to say the least, not to mention dangerous, as a blocked dryer vent is a leading fire hazard. They also said they cleaned the bath fans/vents. Luckily, they had left the cover from my Master Bath fan sitting on the edge of my tub. I looked up and noticed the inside vent itself was still covered in dusty grunge. I checked the other two and sure enough, they had just cleaned the covers, not the insides of the fans/vents themselves. So I, again, cleaned them with my shop vac. Regarding the filter: My HVAC system does not have standard filter. (I have a specialized Aprilaire Air Cleaning filter located in the intake register in the ceiling of my hallway.) So the workers could not install a new filter as advertised in the deal, as they did not carry this type of filter on their truck. The lead guy gave me the name of the filter to get, so I could go purchase it separately, which I did. (A 2 pack of these filters cost me about $100.) After doing a poor to non-existent job on the dryer vent and bath vents/fans, I now have suspicions about the "cleaning" of my air ducts, based on my observations of the work taking place. I feel burned paying $429 for this questionable service. I can not recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal for $269 on Angie's List for comprehensive air duct cleaning, furnace cleaning and dryer vent cleaning. It included 10 registers. I hadn't had my system and ducts cleaned in several years, so it was time. The service was also to include a new filter.

Response from Air Duct Professionals
I never received a complaint call from this customer regarding the dryer vent or any of this. Sometimes, when a dryer duct is very clogged, loose lint can continue to blow out over a period of a few days and may form into a large clump at the termination point of the exhaust and needs to be revacuumed. We don't have any special equipment to clean Bath exhaust fans. There is a fixed fan inside the housing cover. All we can do is vacuum the outside of this housing. I can address your concerns over how our duct cleaning equipment works: negative air machines are not like the vacs in your shop. Our neg air machines have hepa filters INSIDE, that you can't see from the outside and are designed to be air tight. The dust and debris is trapped inside these filters which trap particles down to .03 microns (microscopic range). And you wouldn't feel any suction, by putting your hand inside the duct, because the negative air pressure (suction) exists deep inside the duct system, further than you could possibly reach to feel, with your hand. That's why we use a rotating brush inside each air duct. You did describe our techs using this process. This is to 'push' the contaminants into this 'suction' zone, which is deep inside the main trunk line. It's called the 'push and pull' method, which is approved by the NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association) and is the most common method of air duct cleaning today. Regarding your filter, we do supply a standard filter in our service. But we do not supply special filters, like yours takes. You stated in this complaint that you do not have a STANDARD filter. Aprilair is a type of hepa allergy filter system. The replacement filters are expensive, compared to a standard filter and have to be special ordered. I'm sorry, but we can only supply a standard filter with this service as the special advertises.
