They're really good. They have a good maintenance agreement, $87. They're very thorough, they just don't come in and adjust your thermostat and leave they're very thorough, it's like oh a thirty point tune up or something like that. They're good they're knowledgeable, they're friendly.
Description of Work: I use Bell Brothers Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning for heating and a/c services. They've been out to adjust the furnace and air conditioner and clean it and maintain it. They did maintenance on my air conditioning I think at that time.

I pay about $15 a month. They come out twice a year to service my air conditioner and furnace. I feel like they try to up sale me each time they come out here. The last time there were here they said I needed to replace the entire unit. I don't use the heater very much and don't agree.

Kudos, to Bell Brothers’! This is a company that continues to live up to the high standards of their deserved reputation. Whether it was Brad who introduced us to the company’s commitment to “no surprise costs” on the contract, Marshall as project manager, or the work of Jeremy, Adam, Alias, Josh, and Gary, they all modeled a genuine professionalism to the task at hand—namely, removing the old units and installing the new HVAC. The air ducts were also replaced. These “guys” were consistently attentive to answering our questions and explaining the technical jargon that drives the systems. Because our HVAC proposal needed to be submitted to our HOA for approval, Marshall was consistently available to us— providing both the technical data and creating the supporting drawings that would be presented to the architectural committee. Finally, for the part of the project that was necessary, but had not been calculated into the contract, our Bell Brothers’ crew gave it the same serious attention that the contracted portion had been given. And, tis true, there was no extra charge! By the time the county inspector had arrived to evaluate the two systems, I was not surprised that its standards had been easily met. Given all of the above, Bell Brothers’ was a perfect match for us. We highly recommend them!

I’ve used them for a number of years. I’ve probably used them for 20 years. They are professional. I’ve been satisfied with the work and they are just friendly and professional people. If I need them, when it was summer, we were having the hottest day and I had to call them about the air conditioning and they came out and immediately fixed it. When you need them, they will be there. Their pricing is very comparable with others. They are very good and excellent in responding. When they say they are going to be here at a certain hour, they will be here. Usually, you will get a call from them telling you that they will be there.
Description of Work: I use Bell Brothers for heating and A/C. I have a service contract with them. They come out twice a year to thoroughly check the air and the heat. The last time they were out, they were checking the heating to make sure that when the time comes to turn the heat on, it will be ready.

I was very pleased with the level of customer service and professionalism from all staff members I dealt with at Bell Brothers. Brad, the Design Consultant, was professional and informative when providing a bid. I'd particularly like to acknowlege the installation team (Ricky, Samuel, & Gary) for their work ethic, professionalism, customer-focus, and great sense of humor. They work well together as a team and their efforts were well-coordinated, providing me with confidence that the project would be completed successfully and satisfactorily. A special thanks to Gary for his extra efforts in helping me resolve the problem with squirrels getting into my attic where the new furnace was to to be installed.

At first it was promising. I had to cancel my Friday morning appointment with Brad due to a family emergency, but was able to reschedule for later the same afternoon. I had been told that it would take 1.5 hours for the estimate and that we both needed to be present. I asked why and they said that they take a lot of measurements etc. I explained that it would be just me as my wife had other things she had to do. Brad came out and spent about an hour and a half taking readings etc. I asked him to bid the same equipment that the other two contactors were bidding plus anything he thought would suit us better. Unlike the tower contractors he advised against a 95% efficiency furnace, so I asked him to quote that as well. Once he was done we agreed he would email me the bids Monday or Tuesday the following week. When I did not have the bids by Wednesday, I called him to request them and got back an email with costs for two units. They were not formal bids like I had gotten from the other contactors, so I asked him to supply the bids. He replied that a formal bid only had room for one specific model, so which one did I want? I explained that I wanted them all, at which point he complained about all the work involved in doing 4 separate bids. After a few back and forths where it became clear that he was not going to send me the bids we had agreed to. He explained that Bell Brothers does not email out bids, but sits down with both parties to go over them. I let him know that I was interested in bids, not sales techniques and called Caleb, the sales manager and explained the situation. I explained that if Brad had told me that he would not send me the bids via email, I never would have wasted my time with him in the first place. After some discussion, Caleb asked if I had given him the hour and a half he needed to get the info and I said I had. Caleb then said he would talk to him. About 20 minutes later I got an email from Brad saying he would gladly send me the bids. Once they arrived, the bids were 25-35% higher than the other two contractors who had submitted bids for the exact same equipment. I never did get a copy the Manual J report which he had taken so much time to put together. The owners of the other two companies laughed out loud when I told them that someone had recommended against a 95% furnace. Needless to say, we did not choose to go with Bell Brothers. While the name sounds like a small family company, this is a large company with offices in many cities. They were charging substantially more for the same equipment as the other two HVAC companies we got bids from and that they were not easy to do business with. They seem to have no concept how to treat their customers or doing what they say they will do, so I would not call them again. By contrast, the other two companies are local, family businesses with long track records, high ratings on Angie's List, excellent customer service, good warranties and much lower prices. Either one was preferable by far.
Description of Work: We needed to have our 18 year old AC/heating system replaced and called Bell Brothers for one of 3 bids we got from different companies for the work.

Bell Brothers HVAC just completed a major HVAC replacement at our home in Folsom. The bottom line of this review is A+++! We wish to thank Stephanie in the office for prompt scheduling, follow-up and "heads-up" calls, and Michael S. for competent, non-dramatic facts and question answering during the sales presentation. The install team of Marshall H., Jeremy K., Zak B., Dylan J., Kyle C., and Jose G. were on site promptly or early, carefully spread carpet protection and clearly respected our home throughout the two day install. We apologize for any missing or incorrect names as other techs were here occasionally as well throughout the job. Our two remaining seventeen year old split systems were clearly in decline and one system needed expensive repairs to return it to efficient operation. Michael S. presented a job to replace the dying system and he suggested an alternative. Using one new system sized and zoned to cover both floors would use less power and increase efficiency. By replacing both old systems we would save approximately $10k over replacing each old system separately as they fail. We chose plan B! The install team immediately went to work on the scheduled day removing the old systems and bringing in the components for the new. Their "Attention to Detail" was apparent as we checked throughout the two days as the job progressed. They asked us about wall penetrations as to our preference for looks, alerted us to possible smells resulting from firing up the heater for the first time and did a great job on those small finish issues customers look for. No holes were left open for rodent access, outside pipes were wrapped and taped to prevent sun deterioration, and outside wall patches were painted. The detail work to seal all the supply registers and eliminate our concern about the old fiberboard lining in the return air ducts was amazing. Bell Brothers had replaced our third system five years ago when it failed. During this job they made some detail upgrades to this system such as a pad under the condenser, a new thermostat to be consistent with the new system, and the new MERV 16 filtering cabinet. This is turning into a book, but when you consider what the company advertises as their "No Surprises" policy and the true dollar value for all the work entailed in the job, we're sure we received quality work, upgraded efficiency and a lasting system that works as well or better than what was presented. Great job to all and we really appreciate the "Attention to Detail".

Jason showed the issues to me with one of the two units, and explained the repair needed. After reviewing his findings of both units with me, Jason then saw the first recommendation. My doubts of the first recommendation were confirmed, with only one of the two units requiring replacement parts. I was very impressed with Bell Bros. from the time we made the appointment, to the end of the appointment with Jason. Jason Phipps was professional and appeared very thorough. We were not charged for this appointment. I have since scheduled a tune-up of our two heating furnaces with Bell Bros.
Description of Work: We asked for a second opinion of recommended repairs for our two air conditioning units. The technician, Jason Phipps, did not want to review the first company's recommendation until after diagnosing the two units first.

I had used them at my previous home. I pay $14 and something a month. They come out and do a free checkup in the fall and the spring. I have an appointment for them to come out and check my heating system on the 22nd of this month. If there are parts or repairs, then they charge me for that. I use them all the time. They are fairly priced.

Bell Brothers is an EXCEPTIONAL company, from their customer service to highly skilled technicians; they are indisputably a class act! It’s no wonder their reputation is awesome. After extensive research of several companies, we planned on acquiring several estimates to replace our 18-year-old HVAC system before problems arose & arranged for what we anticipated would be our first consultation & estimate…surprise! We met with Bell Brothers’ design consultant Matt Ott for several hours, discussing various systems, their advantages/disadvantages, rebates, energy efficiency ratings, etc. We were so impressed by Matt that we signed the work contract the same day! We were amazed & reassured by his vast knowledge, including his understanding & explanation of the county’s Ygrene loan program for energy efficient upgrades. We had no idea of the existence of this program, but Matt was fully versed in it & navigated through our application like a pro! For two days, we had the Bell Brothers crew working diligently to remove & replace our HVAC system with a Bryant 16 SEER unit. We wanted a serious upgrade of our existing system, paying attention to energy efficiency, rebates & ratings. The Bell Brothers crew included Marshal H., Jeff Swan, Jose & Aaron B. These guys were so polite & personable, always keeping us in the loop. We also appreciated the camaraderie that existed among the techs as they worked diligently. Not a single negative issue was encountered during this project. My advice - do consider hiring a reputable company to avoid any "surprises" & final county inspection problems; inspectors ARE familiar with a variety of HVAC contractors & know the quality of their work thoroughly. Bell Brothers is indeed a 5-star company we will do business with for life!
Description of Work: Removed old & installed new HVAC system in attic. Removed old & completely replaced new duct work with new layout, allowing placement of duct work on floor of attic rather than suspended from the ceiling close to roof heat. Installed additional insulation to cover all duct work. Replaced ceiling vents including placement of insulation around interior of vents. Installed new Wi-Fi digital thermostat Final cost with 5% veteran discount and extensive rebates = $14, 500. Wow!

I have been using Bell Brothers for several years and even joined their Elite Club Membership offering no charge dispatches and 20% discount on parts. They have done a lot of work on my Air Conditioner and even saved my bacon a couple of times by getting my whole unit replaced on warranty. However even under warranty the labor was over $2,000. I even wrote some reviews praising them for their work which I have just deleted. Most recently, my air conditioner went out and a Bell Brother's tech came to look at it. He discovered a wire had been chewed through and had fallen behind the wall. He said he would have a couple of specialists come by the next day to assess the situation and give me a price to fix it. The guys arrived the following afternoon and climbed up in the attic. After some time they returned and unloaded a bombshell on my wife and me. They advised us they we had a rat infestation and they had nearly destroyed our duct-work. They also said the insulation needed to be replaced as It was matted down with rat urine and feces and would take a special abatement company to do that work. When all was said and done, they gave a rough estimate of $7,000 to $10,000 and $690 to replace the damaged wire. Of course they also recommended Bell Pest Control as a possible solution. They said they would go back to the office and work up an estimate and call me the next day. Meanwhile, I called a pest control company that showed up the next day. The pest control guy did his inspection and returned? he advised me that the situation was not nearly as dire as suggested by the Bell Brother techs. He said he did see a few wires chewed on but minimal damage to the duct-work. Mostly they had chewed some of the exterior coating off but he did not see any placed where they had entered the ducts. He also said that the insulation looked fine. In his opinion, I had a few rats coming and going with very little damage. There were dropping though. He said my attic did not look bad at all. He placed 4 traps in the attic. Considering that the pest guy could have used this situation to charge me for a services I didn?t need, I assumed he was being truthful and accurate. Unfortunately, this also meant that the company I had trusted for so many years (Bell Brothers) was now trying to gouge me for thousands of dollars I didn?t need to spend. Now I wondered about those high prices I paid for previous work. Bell Brother?s main office left a message on my phone offering to make an appointment to fix the wire. They made no mention of the major repairs that needed to be done. Not only were they three days later then promised but also I wondered, ?What happened to the estimate for this much needed work on the ducts and insulation?? Today I had a different Heating and Air come out for a second opinion. I didn't give them any details and told them I only called them for a second opinion. I gladly paid the $85 service call fee. He confirmed Bell Brother?s finding that the wire to the A/C had been chewed and the end of it was not accessible. They also found no meaningful damage to the air ducts. Rocklin Heating and Air said they would not recommend replacing the insulation unless I just wanted to. They said they would be glad to replace the ducts and insulation but they didn?t recommend it. I purposely hadn't told them about Bell Brothers analysis. The second heating and air company bid replacing the wire in the same fashion as Bell Brothers using EMT tubing for $300 less than Bell Brothers. Bell Brothers said EMT would be a lot more expensive and offered to do it with some new plastic tubing. I have noticed over the years that Bell Brother?s technicians seem to be intent in up-selling me or trying to get me to replace parts that might go bad in the future. I suspect they are on partial commission or get bonuses on parts. While I don?t mind an honest up sell attempt, telling me that I need extensive amounts of work done when I don?t, is pure dishonesty and greed. I have always liked the techs but now I don?t trust them to do only the work I actually need. Today I called and canceled the work order and my Elite Membership. The girl asked my why and I told her briefly what happened. She apologized and offered me three month free Elite Membership. The problem is, once you lose the trust of a customer, even free service isn't a bargain. In conclusion, I want to add that every company has its hiccups and sometimes mistakes happen. However, if you look up Bell Brother's on the various consumer review sites out there, you will see a trend that spans years. They have an overall great rating but sometimes the facts are in the details. Over charging and misdiagnose that results in exorbitant charges seem to be the primary topic of bad reviews, not honest mistakes. Either the company owners have not been able to get a handle on it, or it is part of their business plan. I suspect that most customers in Sacramento gladly give great (requested) reviews after sweltering a few days with out an air conditioner. Their personnel overall are clean cut and friendly and for the most part, know their stuff. The problem is, now I don't know which technician to trust.

Installed the new heating and AC system. The AC has broken down 4x; the old system (20 years old) never broke down. They stated they have a 10 year warranty, yet I just got a bill for them going out to check on the non-working AC. They stated it will take 7-10 days to get the part, since this is a rental the tenant has to live elsewhere, hence I am losing rent money. Got the new AC to avoid the hassles of repairs, instead I have nothing but headaches and Bell Brothers has not been helpful.
