I contacted 3 HVAC contractors when my 22 year old gas furnace stopped working (at the beginning of the coldest overnight period so far this winter - first week of January 2013). After talking with the first contractor, I decided that I might as well get a new AC as well since we still had the original 1977 unit. Oh yes, the hot water heater was 20 years old. . . With that, I did some research and found out about the California energy rebate program that can return from $1000-$4500 in rebates depending on efficiency improvements provided by new equipment and insulation work. The number of contractors who are certified by the state is very small, so I called two nearest my home who are rated well in Angie's List. I contacted Absolute Air and Anthony Mercure came out for an appraisal. After reviewing my situation, Anthony recommended a solution that was reasonable in terms of price plus had the potential of returning $2500.00 in rebates. I appreciated Anthony's straight forward approach to a solution as he obviously took into account the fact that our utility bills typically have been very low even with ancient equipment. This led to a single offering rather than a range of choices that produce a higher price but no increase in efficiency. After agreeing to the work, Anthony provided me with a few electric space heaters to help warm the house until the new heater was installed. Anthony called in The Energy Guy to perform a "test-in" to determine how much energy was being lost through duct work and openings in the ceilings (typically around light fixtures). The report indicated about 35% of our heat was being lost. Within the week Anthony's crew was out and got the furnace in and running. The crew were very professional and thorough as they went through all of the accessible ducts and sealed everything up. The ducting tin the garage looks great now that the old fiberglass insulation is gone. Once the heater was up and running, things slowed down a bit but we were never out of service (including the water heater installation) for more than a couple of hours as they performed the work. The A/C went in some time later and made functional sometime in April. I mistakenly called for a city inspector at this point and he wrote up a few items that Anthony was going to clean up but had not gotten around to. He took care of those items as well as having the Energy Guy come for a "test-out" to determine efficiency gains from the work and new equipment. We got 20% which returned us $2000 from the state program as well as another $500 from the Union and PG&E. When I called the inspector out again he went kind of Mickey Mouse and required a few more minor tweaks. Anthony took care of it and did so in good humor. Even though it took months for the complete job to be done (no pain in the duration), I feel as that I got a great job at a fair price. Anthony was easy to work with and is a great conversationalist. The crews that worked in my house (including The Energy Guy) were all very professional and respectful. They did their work with very little noise and always cleaned up nicely before completing for the day. I would recommend Absolute Air without reservation.

Overall, it went fine. I couldn't be more pleased with the experience.
Description of Work: The air conditioner wasn't blowing cold air. Absolute Air came highly recommended from a family friend who have been using them for both their personal and business needs. How refreshing to actually have a real live person answer the phone! Mike was very professional and friendly. We set up a appointment and he was right on time. He quickly accesed the problem ( a simple part ) and took the time to explain in detail exactly what he did and why. I will definitely be recommending Absolutely Air.
