Description of Work: Gallagher's conducted their annual inspection of my air conditioning system. They claimed that the ductwork was falling apart & leaking, and needed to be replaced at a cost of $7,000. They also said they would not even consider installing a new air conditioner until the duct work was replaced. I called in an independent house inspector. He told me that the plastic wrapping around the ducts was deteriorat-ing in places, but that the ducts themselves were not leaking. This was confirmed by another A. C. company and by a highly regarded, independent handyman. All agreed (except Gallagher) that the ducts were not leaking and that a new plastic wrapping would help prevent any future leakage problem and could be installed on the ductwork for a small percentage of Gallagher's estimate to replace the entire ductwork system.

Description of Work: My encounter with Gallaghers was in 2008. My heating system failed to ignite the burner and allowed propane to pool up inside. When it finally did ignite, it blew the panels off of the unit. I called Gallaghers the next day and they sent a very young technician out to diagnose the problem and advise how to correct the problem. I showed the young man where the unit was located behind the house. (Having lived in the home for well over 10 years I was familiar with the sounds the unit would make when igniting.) The tech told me to turn the thermostat up while he watched to see if the unit would function properly. I could tell by the sound that it was going to fail again, and told him to step back. As predicted, the unit did not ignite properly, the propane pooled up and then there was the small explosion again. He was wide eyed, and stated "This thing is dangerous". He had no idea what was causing the problem. He called his office & told them what had happened. They told him that they would have to send another technician out the following day. The young man went to his van, filled out some papers and presented me with a bill for his "services". I was very surprised that they would charge for a service call and not even attempt to remedy the problem! Needless to say, I called another company, they arrived within a few hours. I explained what had happened and in a very short time the problem was found and the unit properly repaired. To this day I am flooded with junk mail advertisements from Gallaghers. I wish I could get off of their mailing list.

Description of Work: They installed a new air conditioning furnace unit in May. However, a piece was missing from the furnace and it took them until December to fix it. I also was |supposed to have the furnace checked and that took a couple of tries to have it fixed because I was told that it had been done although I knew it hadn't. I finally |persuaded someone that it hadn't been done and someone did come out and checked the furnance way after it was supposed to be done. I was also supposed to have my plumbing checked and the employee didn't show up and I wasn't told anything abeout it. I can't understand this because I bought my last unit from them and |I had no complaint about anything then. They always showed up when they were |supposed to, did what they were supposed to do perfectly, etc. So, I am at a loss |for their behavior the second time I bought an unit from them. I will use them |again since I have paid for service twice a year.

Description of Work: A very nice and personable young man began installing the house water filter and also a wireless water heater. At the time he was ready to go home, the work wasn't finished. We were coming up on 4th of July, so couldn't come back until the following Monday. I was told I'd have to hire a plumber to remove pipes left from the old water heater.

Description of Work: Gallaghers Heating and A/C was the most expensive HVAC company we spoke to. It's because of this company and thier outlandish prices why we have yet to purchase an HVAC unit, and are still using a swamp cooler. Gallaghers scared us into thinking that the total for installation of a new HVAC unit for a 1100sq ft house would be close to $15k!!!! Furthermore, I continuously receive letters/mailing (aka: junk mail) from Gallaghers. I have requested both verbally (via telephone) and in writing that I do not wish to receive any more adverstisements from them, and to please remove me from their mailing list. YET, I continue to receive unwanted information time and time again. This company is not recommended.
