We found the leak Friday morning, and called Gallagher. They were able to schedule a tech at 5pm that day; we got a confirmation call he would be arriving. The tech was very friendly and helpful. He quickly determined that the leak was because of an installation problem, and told us there would be no charge. At first, it looked he would have to cut the drywall to get access, and schedule a second visit by a drywall guy to finish the job, but then came up with a innovative way of fixing the leak. He was done and out by 7pm, with a good solution to the problem and great service.
Description of Work: Repaired a air duct leak in the furnace, installed by them about 2 yr ago.

Inspector indicated major repairs required due to cracking of the heat exchanger (indicated there were 7 or more hairline cracks) and a crack in the outer plate. Shut off gas to heater leaving us with no heat. Sent follow-up "expert" inspector to verify his analysis. He also indicated heater was unsafe and required extensive repair or replacement. Required us to sign waver if he turned gas back on. Estimated $2100 for repair or installation of a new system ($4-8 K). My basic understanding of the system led me to believe there was no immediate danger as cracks did not lead to fumes entering the house thus we obtained 2nd and 3rd opinions from other heating contractors who conducted an extensive inspection and could not find any cracks in the exchanger. He indicated the unit was not unsafe and that it could last another 10 years. He replaced the cracked plate and brought the gas tubing up to code (something Gallagher's had not identified). The final cost was $360. We have terminated our annual contract with Gallagher's.

I got more than I wanted initially to buy. I was immediately offered financing to cover the extended cost and this cinched the deal. I am still paying on these items I never intended or felt that I needed.

I originally had a heating system installed from them five years ago. After they installed the system the talked me into buying a "club" plan to have them come for bi-annual check-ups. I just recently paid off for the system and when they came out for the bi-annual check-up yesterday they told me that the system was leaking oil and it would cost $700.00 to fix. Since I was a part of this "club" I expected this "fix" to be part of the plan, like an extended warranty.

I recently purchased a home in Red Bluff. I love the house, but the only heating and cooling system that the home came with was a wall A/C unit in the front room and a wall furnace in the hallway. After several sleepless nights in my new bedroom, I quickly realized that the living room A/C unit wasn?t going to cut it. Like a smart consumer, I got several quotes from different businesses and it didn?t take long for me to become disheartened. My adorable new home has no ducting and no room in the attic for a unit to be installed, two factors that lead to frustratingly high quotes. After basically resigning myself to summer nights spent sleeping in the living room, I had a chance encounter that lead me to Gallagher?s and I couldn?t be happier. I came into the meeting interested in the mini-split system due to its easy install and maintenance, plus its relatively cheaper price tag and much cheaper operating cost. Even knowing what I was interested in, John took the time to explain all of my options so I could be secure in my decision. The turning point in the meeting was certainly when we were exploring the merits of having one or two heads installed. John, knowing that cost was a major concern for me, actually advocated for me to get one head to work in conjuncture with my current system since I would have the option to add a second head later when funds allowed. I couldn?t have felt less pressured. John clearly took my priorities seriously and it was a refreshing experience. Inevitably, I opted to have two heads installed and it was the best decision I could have made. My house is always an even, comfortable temperature and the system is virtually silent, even when set to ?high?. My electrical/gas bill has consistently been below $60 a month and that?s without having to sacrifice comfort on those especially hot days. I can?t express the peace of mind that comes with not having to feel guilty about running my system. From beginning to end, the Gallagher?s team was professional, courteous, and reliable. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience, thoroughly impressed, and would absolutely recommend Gallagher?s for any heating, air conditioning or even basic plumbing and electrical needs. They handle it all and they handle it well!
Description of Work: Installed A/C & Heating system, completely updated the house's electrical system, installed two gas lines.

The tech would not give us a price and would only set an appointment to talk with the salesman if my wife and i were there for it. We asked them to leave and called another company. They fixed the issue for a few hundred dollars and its working great. I had a friend call them out for a watersoftener and they lied to him. Charged him over $3500.00 and told him it did things it did not. The features they told him about were only available from Culligan. The salesman told him it was not in the brochure because it was new, the manufacture told him the system did not have that feature and had been out for years.

I got a really good heater. It's very well-insulated so I won't have to replace it again. They're very knowledgeable, efficient and neat. They picked up after themselves and they didn't leave a mess at all. It's very clean. They did a really good job. I had to have an inspector inspect my water heater and he said they did a very good job. I've never had any problems with them.

Extremely well. They were on time, did the job, and cleaned up afterwards. Get other bids first, as they will duplicate a lower bid. At the completion of installation, I was asked to sign a paper that pertained to the completion. I asked for a copy of that paper and was told that it would be mailed to me. Two months later and six phone calls, I have yet to see that copy.

Someone from Gallaghers Plumbing came out to inspect the water and plumbing (which is free with a club plan). It was found that the mineral water count was too high, which could probably be the reason for my mothers' calcium level being so high. a water purifier was suggested and this person explained the function and all of the details about the purification unit. He showed my mother the 3 units that were offered, but did not in any way try to pressure her into making a decision right away. All of my mother's questions were answered and understood. She also wanted a waterless water heater installed. The two pieces that she wanted were "bundled" and she got a good price. When the service was to be done, the people sent out were very polite, they introduced themselves and explained exactly what they were going to do. My mother is 90 yrs old and can be very particular. When it came time to clear the working area, the men moved a cabinet for her to her specifications---they were very patient. They used shoe covers whenever they had to enter the house. They cleaned the work areas and left everything neat. Brochures were left and all equipment was reviewed and gone over prior to them leaving. Numbers were given in the event of further questions. My mother has used them in the past, and will continue because they are reliable and extremely courteous.

After having my a/c unit looked at my service guy said it would need some work but the unit was 18 years old. He told me they had some good deals going so I took at look. He sold me a Lennox Air Flow unit and an updated larger return to get my system up to speed. They installed the unit and return on the following Wed and when I got home that evening and took at look at it to my surprise it was a different unit than the one I purchased, a Rheem not a Lennox. I called the company to see what was going on and was told the install manager would return my call, he never did. I called again and finally got the install manager and he told me the unit they sold me was too big for the area I had so they upgraded me to this unit. He said he would email me the dimensions and the paperwork for the new unit, he never did. At this point I am thinking I just got screwed and they are hiding something. I called the company again and the reception girl told me someone would call me back, they never did. I gave it one last try before calling my lawyer and asked for the company manager, I was told he wasn't in yet and that he would call me back. This time I did get a call and he really couldn't tell me why but said the unit they put in was a better unit and he would find out what happened. He emailed me back and explained the situation and I was satisfied with his explanation, but it was not what the install manager had told me. All in all the service people they have on the a/c side are great but the office people are a little sketchy. The unit works great but I really had to jump through a lot of hoops to get satisfaction and at the price I paid I should not have had to. A simple phone call from them telling me the problem would have averted any concerns, but like the several calls I made to them, I never got a call. I probably wouldn't use them again but I am kind of tied to them for taking care of my new unit under the warranty.

They were terrible. They put my system in last October and it has been one nightmare after another. They did not get the final inspection done. They are still calling me to fill out paperwork. They overcharged me. It took a lot of phone calls to rectify that. I found them through Home Depot. As far as I know, the workmen were great. It was more the ineptness of the salesman and staff. They acted very, very nice but they would say they would call back and they wouldn't. I would have to make multiple phone calls to get anything done. There were quite a few mistakes like they were supposed to put something in and they wouldn't put it in and yet they charged me anyway. It was just that kind of stuff. I had to spend a lot of time for follow up. They didn't even charge me and I had to call and ask when they would charge me. It was everything from them billing me the wrong interest rate to them not billing me and then when they did they had charged me $1000.00 more than they said and it took multiple phone calls to get that straightened out. As far as the workmen, they did a good job. It is working. The system that they originally sold me, they came out to do the next day and we had to start all over because the what the salesman had sold me could not even be put on my property. That was the first thing. Of course then after everything going on, I realized that they had really overcharged me. I went with them because they touted great customer service which turned out to be just the opposite.

Keith came over for an estimate the previous Friday, took one look at our old tank water heater, and let us know what a liability it was. We were then persuaded to go with a tankless water heater -- I have to say that I wasn't hot on the idea initially due to cost recovery being nearly impossible on them due to high installation costs having to rejigger the plumbing, add electrical, and update the venting. However, we had decades of code violations which would have added up to a monstrous cost (especially for the vent) to replace with a normal water heater. The NPE-240A that we were persuaded to purchase uses PVC venting, which is routable through older metal vents -- thus is a cost reduction over installation of new, up-to-code metal venting. Note that Gallagher will have a promotional first-visit price. If you don't sign the dotted line to purchase a major service from them on that first visit, the price may increase by several hundred dollars on the next visit. That is a little bit of a pressure tactic and we would have done a bit more homework had we known of it. However, in this case, we had a potentially disastrous situation on our hands with that 23 year old water heater and didn't much feel like tempting fate by checking with other contractors for their costs and quality of service. After Keith left, I began to do some additional research. I came to find that flush valves are a huge convenience with tankless water heater. They allow you to easily isolate the house plumbing from the tankless water heater, connect two hoses to the heater and a pump, and circulate a lime scale dissolving solution (such as house-hold vinegar) to remove the scale from the heater exchanger. I was worried that the install wouldn't come with these flush valves. I called Gallagher at 9am on a Saturday morning and asked if they would be installing flush valves. The initial answer from the on-call plumber was no. Fortunately, Keith provided his personal/work cell phone. I called to verify the no answer. He assured me that the flush valves would be installed (and yes, they were -- and high quality valves too; single ball-valve, cast in Italy!). Thanks, Keith, for taking my call on your off day. That saved everyone a lot of grief :-) So my nerves were soothed and I waited patiently for Monday to get that old, possibly leaking, tank water heater out of my house. On Monday, two technicians came out on time (Travis and Chad). I don't recall which one was the experienced plumber, but one of them was definitely new and needed the experience (we all start from somewhere). Both set out to do their work and were fairly efficient. Only one mistake of note was caught. The lesser experienced technician did accidentally cut a hole through my gas furnace vent cap, believing it to be the water heater vent cap. The mistake was caught, and some sheet metal was cut and the cap was repaired with some mastic and water repellant stuff. I don't know if that's code but I suppose I'll find out when the code inspector visits to close the permit... certainly the last thing I need is CO entering the house because the cap was reinstall or repaired incorrectly. The copper pipes were completely reconfigured, and even shortened (which is always good for water pressure and heat retention). The PVC outlet vent was installed through the old vent and spray painted black. It can hardly be seen from the highway. The experienced plumber ensured that the system worked well at full firing. He didn't have a Manometer that worked with the unit, so we didn't get our gas pressure tested. He said that the inspector should be able to do that; should I have made him come back to test the pressure? Well, it seems to work with the gas stove going, but I haven't had a chance or a cool day to test the furnace plus the water heater and the oven. Backing up a bit, they did install an outlet into the water heater closet, tying into the bathroom electrical on the other side. The final result looked nice; the valves were mostly positioned in an accessible way. The hot water flush valve is a little hard to access with the gas trap in front of it. But everything got insulated, and a bit of PEX tubing was installed for the condensation line. That was also insulated, so UV degrading the PEX shouldn't be a problem? The heater was installed in an exterior water heating closet with a vented outside door. The condensation line was linked up with the A/C condensation line. The A/C condensation seems to still make it out. Bonus that the PVC was extended off my patio, but the condensation does now exit just behind the A/C unit. I've read that the Navien produces somewhat acidic condensation so I'm only slightly concerned that large amounts of condensation could cumulatively affect the A/C metal footings. We'll see what the inspector says (I'll update this review after that is completed). Overall, the experience was nice, and we were not bothered too much with the Gallagher membership plan like last time. The techs were personable and willing to explain what they were doing. They even let me see what a bad idea it is to have galvanized piping interact with copper piping. Yuck! It is nice to get rid of all those corroded galvanized stub outs between the old tank water heater and the main service to the house. They didn't mind that I was looking over their shoulders the entire time; personally, I hate when others do that to me, so good on them. The experienced plumber graciously repaired some of the busted out dry wall with some of my left over dry wall, which was great, and helped complete one of my DIY items. Only other thing that comes to mind is, ensure that the techs clean the cold water inlet filter after testing the tankless water heater. I had to do that myself (per the install instructions that came with the unit) and it had some debris from the performed work. The tech did explain how to clean that out as it is regular maintenance for tankless water heaters. He also let us know that there is an inlet air filter that is easily cleaned. Good experience overall; a few minor (?) issues cropped up. I'll update this review when the inspector checks on the work. The heater works great, even without a recirculation line. I'm much happier to be serviced by a tankless water heater! ** Update post-Inspections ** After waiting a few weeks, and inquiring Gallaghers about the permit, and then receiving it shortly after that inquiry, we had the City inspector over. He found that the tankless water heater did not have a properly sized gas input. He caught the fact that the gas line reduced down to 1/2" somewhere after the house furnace. For some reason the old water heater and adjacent stove had 3/4" pipe connected to that 1/2" pipe. The installers did not notice this as a potential problem. The inspector was concerned that if the house furnace were going, there wouldn't be much left over for the house tankless water heater. Thus he wrote up the install as needing 3/4" pipe all the way to the water heater. He also detected a hint of natural gas smell in the water heater closet. We pointed out that the house furnace roof jack had been damaged and repaired. The inspector took a look and wasn't so sure that the mastic would hold up to the vent's output heat. So the jack/bonnet would have to be replaced. It took one night to get a plumber out to fix the gas leak. It took 3.5 weeks to get plumbers out here to fix the inspector's red tag items for upsizing the gas line and replacing the vent bonnet. We had called Gallaghers many times during those weeks and were told they would get the installers in touch with us to schedule repairs. That didn't happen; the installers never got in touch. Eventually one of the customer service reps realized that we had called so many times with no callback from the installer that she got permission from the manager and personally scheduled the installers to come out. The installers never came out; the word is the installer quit the day he was to come out. Instead a plumber was dispatched to take a look. He sized up the problems and decided on a plan of attack. Unfortunately he was ill-equipped to fix the red tag issues. He needed a pipe threader and a few other tools. So the next week Gallagher came out with two actual plumbers, not a subcontracted installer, and fixed all the red tag issues to satisfaction. They were prompt that day, courteous, and listened to any concerns I had about the work being done. It took a little more than half a day to make the repairs since there was some tricky attic work. So the inspector passed the install after weeks of delays and failed call-backs, and appropriate repairs by actual, solid Gallagher employees. In conclusion, it is hard to want to employ Gallagher again for any future major work, especially if they involve subcontracted installers. We did not have a good overall experience with our installer. The actual Gallagher employees seem to care more about their quality of work rather than quantity -- kudos to them. I fear, however, that might not be enough for us to be return customers as the total experience just wasn't good enough for such a large investment. I do have concerns that not everyone at Gallagher understands how the Navien tankless water heaters work. After the red-tag repairs, I had to clean out the inlet air filter -- a fair amount of loose attic insulation dropped down through the PVC inlet into the filter thus likely impairing the unit's efficiency. And no, I don't want to join the Club. ** Update ~ 1 year Out ** The tankless water heater hasn't had any problems. It just had its annual flush. The valves that Gallagher installed are awesome. The flush valves are probably the highest quality part aside from the heater Gallagher installed!

Gallagher called and said that the HVAC technician would be arriving in 30 minutes. One hour later, he arrived. The technician laid out some marketing materials right away and encouraged us to review them, particularly he wanted us to look at the benefits of the Gallagher Club. The technician seemed very thorough -- it was the first time we've had an inspection as new home owners. He carefully explained in detail every part of the inspection. The cost of the inspection included one pound of refrigerant but we did not need it. The technician measured the voltages of the compressor, fan, and other components. Inspected the wiring and noted some wire degradation, but nothing serious. The technician cleaned the condenser tubes and fins with sodium hydroxide and by spraying water. The A/C temperature was measured. As an added bonus the tech was kind enough to go over the heating system and explain what a future heating inspection would entail. Finally, he peeked into the attic and noticed some insulation had fallen off the ducting. He suggested a full reduct, for some reason. I should note that the tech had never seen a Nest thermostat before. All went pretty well, and he only suggested we install a soft-start kit to prolong the compressor's life , a full re-ducting (which we can't see as a viable option for ducting insulation being in some state of deterioration), and..... the Gallagher Club maintenance plan. The tech become very persistent and high pressure about the maintenance plan, which cost $14.99 a month. He noted all the different benefits anytime he could toward the end of the visit. It got so bad that my wife started laughing at the absurdity of his marketing the maintenance plan over and over despite our saying "We don't want to sign up today" and various ways of saying "No". So a decent overall visit was spoiled by this high pressure tactic; I guess they get a commission or some sort of benefit of signing people up for it. I don't fault the technician. I fault whoever it is that is making them hawk this plan, since it seems like they are putting even more pressure on their technicians to sell it! The plan offers free inspections, discounts on parts, services etc.... Gallagher almost make you feel like a 2nd class customer if you don't take them up on the plan. If they want customers to return to them for all their HVAC and plumbing needs, perhaps get rid of the plan and make all those discounts the normal price? Do they inflate prices to offer these "discounts"? I don't know; it seemed like really bad customer service behavior. We all have more than enough monthly bills. I'll be trying them again, but I hope we don't have to spend 30 minutes going in circles about that plan.
Description of Work: We had Gallagher do an annual A/C inspection.

Our home heating went out suddenly on a cold Saturday morning. A service rep came out to our home later that same day and did a thorough diagnostic check of our system. A badly corroded, burned part was shown to us with an explanation of what it was. They tried to get a replacement part without success (our HVAC system was very old and very expensive to run.) Due to the age of our system it was no big surprise that the part was no longer available. A sales rep came to our home the next day (Sunday) and we worked out an agreement for a new system that would meet our needs. The new system was installed three days later (Wednesday) and we were back to normal. Throughout this process, everyone was always professional and always took the time to answer every question thoroughly. Everyone we dealt with at Gallagher's, from the original service rep to the installers, worked with us to find times we were available and always were on time. When the installers came to replace our old system, they took their time and did a very thorough job, even replacing and repairing some ductwork in the attic at no extra charge. Our monthly energy bill has dropped dramatically so, all things considered, even though this was an expense we didn't have a chance to plan for we're both glad to have a new energy efficient HVAC system.
Description of Work: Performed a diagnostic check of our old (dead) heating system and ended up installing a new HVAC system.

The salesman's initial estimate for installation of 2 HVAC units was TWICE that of other dealers who bid on the job. When confronted with the lower estimate, he immediately slashed his own estimate to meet their price. However, he tried to substitute an off-brand product instead of the Carrier units in the lower bid. He attempted to pressure me into a deal. I decided to go with another company which was open and straightforward.
Description of Work: HIGH ESTIMATE, PRESSURE GAVE BAD IMPRESSION.

Their workmanship is good. They are reliable and presentable when they walk into the door. We've been very satisfied.
Description of Work: They cleaned the air ducts. And they replaced one of the tubes with a more efficient method of conducting cooling/heating.

The water heater went in okay and they cleaned up real nice, but the head guy that was working there with them he was going to replace the sink. He chipped out part of our tiling. It was such a fiasco that it was terrible. The whole thing ended up where they didn't have the sink so they left us with the tiling chipped out which was at least two inches wide and he never showed back up. I called three or four times and they said the sink wasn't in and that they had to reorder it. It was just back and forth with that, and finally I said just forget it and we're not going to do it, so I wasn't very happy with that. The tankless water heater was fine, however the price was quite expensive. I talked to a friend of mine and they had one and it was nowhere near that price. We ended up getting a free whole house plumbing inspection and the guy they sent out was just a very personable person and an excellent representative for the company and when he saw the mess that was left from the sink he offered to make the deal good. He did put in a sink for us and he did an excellent job and I was very pleased with the sink that he put in, but I don't know if I would recommend them. I think their prices are very high. This guy I would recommend because he's very conscientious and is extremely courteous. He's not pushy and just want to sell you something that you don't need. His name was Jason and he was just excellent. I do enjoy the the tankless water heater. We just got the sink installed probably three months ago and the tankless water heater was at the beginning of the year, so we went a long time with the sink like that. They're more concerned in selling you something, except for Jason.
Description of Work: Gallaghers Plumbing, Heating & Air installed a tankless water heater, a sink, and gave us a free whole house plumbing inspection.
