 + -1 moreMr. Carrillo had not been contacted by you about my project. He says Angies's List has NEVER contacted him, though he says many customers have the same story as me. You need to communicate with him better. (He has no computer.) Nevertheless, he scheduled me for the next day, arrived on time, worked hard to make everything work as well as it could, dealt with unforeseen complications, cleaned up - even took away the old antenna. I'm happy.

Did the job throughly and even when i had problems with Comcast he stuck around and helped me get everything done. We went over the time quoted and he wouldn't let me pay more for his extra time. Very honest. I actually ended up using him in other small projects. glad to know him.
Description of Work: Frank set-up an new cable outlet in a bedroom. Work included getting into crawspace, finding the right wire from a multitude of wires from previous owner, make sure cable box was working.

As he was in the project, I asked for some changes, and he handled them without issue. Since then. I've hired Frank to come back and help with other small projects. I will use Frank in the future for all my wiring needs.

Frank called back 4/6/12 - very nice -said he couldn't come by to give estimate until following week - he would contact me Mon/Tues to schedule appt OR drive by and call w/estimate. It's now 4/21/12 -Haven't heard back from Frank to schedule an appointment as he promised. l'm not interested in calling him again or doing business with him.

Description of Work: Live at Sunset Oaks, Sunnyvale, California. Townhouse required a Channel Master CM-4228HD over-the-air Antenna. The HOA had recommended a looser. And I had planned weeks in advance and set aside precious Xmas vacation time during my two week break to do the work. "Mr. Looser," was as flakey as heck, making lame excuses why he could not come out to do the job--like he needed to get his truck fixed. He never managed to do it over the two week break. I finally told him to forget it. Frank Carillo had been highly recommended by a friend and fellow technology/home theater buff. Frank is awesome. He knows his stuff inisde and out. He was keenly aware of the townhouse regs, the need for painting exterior cables, etc. His was also highly sensitive to the needs of in-home signal distribution and worked hard to make use of the existing wiring others (such as DirecTV and Comcast) had left, so I could watch TV in as many rooms as possible . The work took around 4 hours, and wiring was done through the attic, cables painted, etc. The picture quality is awesome. The HD picture is so much better than the highly compressed images which come from DirecTV, etc. I believe I now get something like 88 channels. It appears even something is coming in from Cotati! Mindboggling. I watch KQED and MeTV (sorta like Nick at Night--all old shows, which appear to have been reprocessed and look great)--so FREE TV, with super image quality is great for me.

 + -1 moreCarillo Antenna is a great vendor, and would, without a doubt, recommend his service, as well as use his service again. He arrived on time, and we proceeded to do a walk through. We discussed options, and then decided on the price, which was inline with the quote, however I wanted a few additional items done. He completed the work professionally in about 2.5 hours. I wrote him a check, and he was on his way.
Description of Work: Carillo Antenna, installed a new Channel Master HD Antenna, and ran coaxial cable to specified locations in the living room, and three bedroom.

 + 0 moreFrank came in and installed a Channelmaster HD antenna on my roof and then ran all the wiring in the walls for tv, ethernet and phone to a number of rooms in the house. He did a great job! I was surprised when we turned on the tv, I had 80 new digital channels over the air and he aligned this by sight, he offered to to tune, but I didn't see the need to do anything further with the antenna. I despise unsightly wiring on the external of the house and though it was a little more effort, Frank installed all of the cabling in the walls. What's more he did this quickly and cleaned up after himself, so I didn't know he was there except for the added capabilities. I don't typically recommend work, but in this case, I think he did a fantastic job and would highly recommend him

 + -1 moreI called several contractors on a Saturday about installing an antenna, and Frank was the first contractor to respond to my call. I mostly knew what I wanted, but I wanted to get advice from a pro, and if an antenna had to be installed on the roof (as I suspected), I needed said pro to be able to do the installation. Frank came to my house that day to give me a free estimate. We discussed three separate options, and his experience showed. He gave me advice, and in the end, I opted for a brand new antenna, to be attached to the roof. Frank gave me a quote of $225, including parts, labor, even the antenna itself (a Channel Master 4228HD). Frank came the next day to do the installation work, and he was punctual, courteous, and skilled. The only negative I can think of is that--because the cable was wired along the outside of the house--the result was not as aesthetically pleasing as it could have been. But that approached saved us money, and for the price (as compared to punching a hole into the attic and wiring through the house), I accept the compromise, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Frank purchased a UHF (+ high-band VHF) antenna, fixed it atop my roof (attached to the chimney), ran RG-6 cable along the outside of my house, punched a hole into the wall into my living room, and ran the cable into a new COAX outlet that he installed. He then connected my TV to the outlet and configured the TV for all the relevant channels.

 + -1 moreI needed to replace my existing Dish Networks satellite dishes with a new one to continue to receive international channels and as Dish Networks won't do anything other than very simple installs I was left on my own to figure out how to make it happen! Fortunately, Frank had the knowledge and the equipment to swap out the dishes, secure the new dish on a pole and allign it to the new satellite(s).

 + -1 moreI have one TV in my house and a roof antenna. I added the converter box early in 2008 and had great reception. Beginning in late February 2009, I began losing channels! First it was channel 2, then channel 4. I researched transmissions, televisions, updated the scanning, and everything I could think of as I continued to lose channels. By last week I was down to only channel 11. I considered buying an HDTV though my Sony TV is only 5 years old. Turns out that HDTVs use outdoor antennas too so I was still looking at an antenna problem. I turned to Angie's List and was thrilled that they had a category for TV Antennas. Who would guess? I had 3 choices in the A category. I picked the company that sounded best, and it was Frank Carrillo. I was very pleased that he was honest and he did not try to sell me a new antenna as the solution when it might not have been. He was businesslike, cordial, and honest and that made him a 1st class choice for repeat business.
Description of Work: Mr. Carrillo responded to my phone call by offering two possible appointment times in the next week. He said that based on my description of the problem, I was probably dealing with a minor problem that would be easy to fix and NOT costly to resolve. I chose an appointment time, and that day he called to say he would be free 30 minutes earlier. Which time would be best for me? When he arrived he introduced himself and said that first he wanted to go on the roof. When he descended, the said the TV reception problem was caused by an unstable antenna base. The antenna itself, purchased from someone else in 1998, was fine but loose from its moorings and shifting from its original position. He said he would secure the guy wires, reorient the antenna, apply silicone to the rusting wires on the roof. After he did that, he came inside and updated the scanning on the converter box. He charged me for his labor and that was that. Instead of pointing to SF, the antenna had shifted to Oakland, and that made all the difference and explained why I had gradually, over 10 weeks, lost some channels and retained a few.

 + -1 moreFrank installed DTV antennas for us in two different locations in San Francisco. Both locations had very distinct problems. At the first location, the house was blocked by a hill from seeing San Bruno mountains. But Frank found a solution to still receive the signal from that tower (and of course, also from Sutro tower on Twin Peaks). The second location was even more challenging, as we kept suffering from severe interference, multi-pathing and saturation. Frank tested a big assortment of different antennas until eventually installing one that now works perfectly. Before that, we had never been able to reliably receive over-the-air TV at this location. Frank had given us an estimate of $250 per location prior to starting the project. And despite the fact that it took him much longer than anticipated to resolve the reception problems at the second location, he stayed within budget.
Description of Work: Frank installed directional UHF antennas for receiving DTV signals at two different locations in San Francisco.

 + -1 moreFrank figured out which connectors to use for our new HD TV and HD TV cables. He spelled out the myriad of options on how to blend with our current cable service. He used good connectors and fasteners (no staples). He took our old TV antenna to discard. Frank helped us program our new HD TV to work with the new antenna. He provided very good explanations on each step. He cleaned up after the job. The work took about 2 hours.
Description of Work: Frank removed our old analog antenna from our chimney and installed a Channel Master 4228 antenna so that we could get HD signals to our new HD TV.

 + -1 moreMr. Carillo called back promptly. I told him my street address and he looked up the address on www.antennaweb.org and suggested an antenna. He drove by the house and looked to see what would obstruct the antenna (the neighbor's roof, the palm trees, etc). He arrived on time and cleaned up afterward. He took the time to aim the antenna and then checked to make sue I received the channels. He promised to return if there was a problem. I am very happy with the antenna and pick up stations as far away as 70 miles.
Description of Work: He installed a Channel Master brand antenna on the roof of my home. The antenna was for my high definition television.

Installation of the antenna and cable runs were done with care and professionalism. He cleaned up all the debris and left me with a receipt and a two year warranty. It was a good experience.
Description of Work: Frank and his son Chris came out to my house as scheduled and removed my very old Yagi style antenna and installed a new CM 4228 in it's place. Frank also removed my old satellite dish.

After he performed the work, he checked through all the channels to be sure the reception was good and made some necessary adjustments to the direction of the antenna. He was very friendly and came on time.
Description of Work: Frank came out to assess the situation. He quoted me a price which was very reasonable. He came back and installed a tall pole to raise my antenna up. He installed new cabling and a new splitter.

After I spoke with the owner he went right over and removed her very old antenna as well for a reduced price since he was already in the neighborhood. If everyone I hired was this reasonably priced, responsive, and efficient what a wonderful world this would be!! Thank you to whoever put his name on Angie's List. You saved me a lot of stress in trying to find someone myself.
Description of Work: Removed a very old TV antenna from my roof. It had fallen over in a windstorm. He removed all the support wires, patched the roof where needed to cover a hole from the supports and hauled away the antenna. He came out on New Years Day two hours after I called him!
