He told me he would like us to pick out plants together so he had an idea of what I wanted. It never happened. I told him I definitely did not want ivy planted in one spot because the ivy that had been removed had grown up and removed the paint from the wall. We took it down. He had me go and order white stone; he gave me the wrong amount to buy. When he realized this he ordered, but they were out at that time. This then ended up being a couple of months for completion. We have dogs and told him we wanted small and large white stone with potted plants in a certain area. He did not listen. He planted ferns right in the place that the dogs run. The next day all the ferns were trampled. He finally did the stones and potted plants they way we asked. All in all we are still not pleased and can t enjoy our yard. I guess what is so upsetting is that this company came so highly rated that we never got any other estimates.
Description of Work: We called for an estimate on some landscaping. The man showed up on time and explained he wanted to do our project in stages. It started out well and quickly went down hill. Part of the landscaping was good, but it all seemed to go wrong when he tried to patch an area where there were small pebbles. He tried to get the same type of pebbles to match, that was close. However, when he put them down they did not stick. We ended up with an area that looks worse than had he left it alone. We said we wanted a patio area so he brought in large pavers, which was okay. Then he put the pavers far enough apart to fill the space with small stones. We are afraid to sit there because the chairs feel like they are going to tip over. He told us he'd done this in the past and never had any complaints. We complained and nothing changed. All we wanted was a place that we could use and enjoy.

Initially a person named Matt came over to our house. He had a very casual, friendly manner, nothing was a problem and he knew exactly what we wanted, our input would not be necessary. After that he vanished for two weeks, finally after repeated calls he showed up again. He had a piece of paper with misspelled plant names we had trouble finding pictures of on the Internet, the ones we did find were nothing like what we had in mind. We asked for a design, he drew it in pen right in front of us. Again he vanished, we called and said that this design was not to our liking. He seemed frustrated, and said something about having to charge us next time he had to come out. Well, he did charge us, $75. He submitted one design, and then he was gone again and left us with only a bill for our trouble. I do not recommend this business on any level...unless giving away money is your thing.
Description of Work: Landscape front, back and side of house.

This was a nightmare. They had some good ideas but also some that would not have worked, plus their estimate on the irrigation piece was far too high. They said they'd come back with a lower quote. Meanwhile, my yard was dying, so after a week or so, I had the irrigation and sod redone. When I finally heard from Yard Design after two weeks, they admitted they'd highballed me, but the new quote was not much less. I asked them to quote on the remaining landscaping sans sprinklers, and in return I got a vicious email from one of the partners accusing me of stealing their landscape ideas. Now, I know some landscapers lose business to people who take their ideas, but I would never do that. I simply had to fix my sprinklers ASAP so I didn't lose more grass, and YD was too slow in responding. To this day I haven't used ONE of their ideas in my landscaping anyway. I would have loved to have a pro do the yard, but I suppose I'm glad I found out early on that these guys were a bit crazy.
Description of Work: I called them for an estimate on some backyard landscaping and to fix a broken irrigation system; they looked at the property (after getting lost the first three times) and returned with some ideas and a quote.
