+ -1 moreGenerally Paul does not do construction work as his company specializes in roofing - flat roofs are their specialty. They put a new roof on our house several years ago - (an excellent job at a reasonable price) but in the middle of having our house painted we discovered extensive damage of the fascia boards. We called Paul and he immediately sent his team to help us. They replaced several feet of fascia board and repaired the affected roof all done within two days so the painters could finish their job.

+ -1 morePaul and Tony replaced our bitumen roof, more than 4000 square feet, in one week. Some of the plywood and facia boards were rotten so he replaced them and did an excellent job on the rest of the roof. Paul replaced the roof on our guest house in 2008 and there have been no leaks. He charges a fair price and always does a superb job.

Description of Work: Yankee roofers performed an entire roof repair job on our Spanish tile roof.The previous roofers had not done a proper job and it showed! Paul and his crew re-did the entire roof. This involved removing and saving ( as many as they could) the existing tiles, putting down new roof paper, re-installing the tiles properly, which including the "mud" that goes between the tiles. No sooner had they finished, we had rain and no leaks! Paul also coordinated his work with the gutter installer since most of the gutters ( which were non-existent before) needed to be in place before the roof could be installed. Paul and his work crew were outstanding, professional, and responsible. They were prompt and did the job in six days which is excellent considering the size of the job. Yankee Construction was wonderful! I highly recommend them.

+ 1 morePaul and his crew were great. From the first contact to the last in his job he was very professional, informative and honest with me. He let us know that we could probably live with our roof for another 5+ years, but the fact we had a leak my wife and I decided to just get it all taken care of and be done with it. Paul and his guys showed up every day and delivered an exceptional looking roof. They cleaned up after themselves every day and actually went above and beyond what he said he would do for the job. The fact we have some funky skylights made the job all the more challenging for them (i can tell), but they re-did the install to do it right. They even sealed some cracks on our chimney and took care of an extremely large hornet nest that built itself into the soffit area. Our house looks great with the new roof (although looks so good now we think we need to paint the house) - he kind of did too good of a job. I definitely recommend him and know that if I have any problems in the future, I can call him and he will take care of it without a question.
Description of Work: Replaced a roof of 3 layers with no existing base plywood on main house and detached garage. Installed plywood where necessary, new flashings, vents, replaced any/all rotted wood, fixed poorly installed skylights and painted some wood that was in need of paint job.

Description of Work: My husband and I are on the board of trustees for our church in Arcadia, CA. The board asked us to contact 3 roofers to get written estimates for either repairing or replacing the flat roof on our church santuary and church social hall because of leaks from the rains in early 2011. Our church has a 25 year old, combination flat and gable roof, but the flat part is the one giving the problems. I picked Paul Coufos/Yankee Construction from Angie's List as the third roofer to give the estimate. I had perused many roofers on Angie's List, reading people's comments, before choosing Paul. Paul came out to the church promptly and punctually to look over the church's roof. He was pleasant, easy to talk to, and willing to answer any questions. He told us that he would give us two estimates......one for replacing the flat roof, and another for replacing the gabled part (which was not leaking). We met him at the church and after briefly speaking with him about the church roof, we let him go at inspecting the roof. Paul told us what materials he would use for the job.....it seemed he would use the best quality material. I gave him a self addressed envelop and asked him to please mail his written estimates to the address. Paul brought his own folding ladder so we did not have to provide him one. Within a week, he sent us the first estimate, and within the second week he sent us the second estimate. We sent both estimates to the board of trustees to evaluate. The estimates are in their hands. To fund the roofing project, the trustees will need to get the elders and the church board involved. It will take time....I liked Paul's attitude and professionalism towards his customers and his work. He did what he said he would do. I would have no hesitation in having him do our roof at home.

+ -1 morePaul responded promptly when scheduled to come by to give a bid. His bid proposel was specific as to what we discussed. We kept in contact as to when the job would be done. Work was completed as expected with no surprises and with friendly work staff, which included Paul.
Description of Work: Replaced and repaired roof. Consisted of finding close matching spanish "S" tile (1929 era). Replaced rotted wood. Used 2 layers of 40# felt paper. Alos recomemded cost saving ideas; as the roof is flat on the back portion.

+ -1 moreAfter a recent heavy rainfall, I had leaks in a roof that had drips through a light fixture and above a back door in a utility room. Most of the ceiling was stained from the leaks. After the leaks were discovered, we put tarps on the roof until I could get a roofer. Paul at Yankee Construction was the third roofer I called. Although the others wouldn't come out because they didn't come to this area or were too busy, Yankee Construction came right out and gave me a free estimate, even though they were further away. They were working 7 days a week. Paul said they didn't do any jobs less than $500 and even encouraged me to get more estimates. However, I liked the way he presented himself. And even though I called him to fix the leaks, he pointed out some other things that should have attention (ventilation pipe sealing, metal flashing to be nailed) and replaced some shingles that had blown off.) He later came out and did the job along with a workman. Paul was professional, friendly and I felt confident he knew his business. He said he gets a lot of business from apartment and commercial buildings and is the first one on the list at the supply yard for recommendations. He showed me how he used a superior, heavy-duty shingle especially good for a flat roof. I was very pleased with him and the quality of his work with Yankee Construction.
Description of Work: Repaired 3 leaks on fairly flat roof and sealed a ventilation pipe. Nailed metal flashing around roof in the back part of house that another roofer had put on several years ago without nailing to secure it well and prevent dripping. Paul also replaced 4 composition shingles on the carport that had blown off in a previous storm.

Paul communicated well, took the time to explain the work to be done including talking about different options and competitor's prices,called to make sure I had received the estimate(willing to hand deliver if it had not arrived in the mail) and came over to meet me(as I lived in another county) and answer any more questions I had before the job was started. Paul and his team did an excellent job on the roof!!! I would highly recommend this company!! He was a reliable, responsible and extremely able contractor and I had no need to be concerned about anything. I knew he would complete the job and contact me when it was done.
Description of Work: Re-roofed a rental in Brentwood using 20 year shingles(my choice vs 30 yr) with a five year service warranty included. Old tiles were cleaned/prepared and then new tiles installed over them. The price is a B+ or maybe even an A- but I chose to enter a B....I don't have a lot of perspective on this...

Yankee was timely, worked with my solar installer, put the roof on and left the yard (and pool) free of any evidence they were here. I would use again without question-- and no I'm not a relative! Just found them on Angie's List.
Description of Work: New roof on garage. Coordinate with solar installation company to insure new mounting brackets placed and sealed properly.

+ -1 moreThis was by far our best experience with a construction firm. Paul was personable, knowledgeable, punctual and honest. He gave us an estimate and stuck to it even though the job turned out to be more complicated than he thought. He and his partner did all the work. Their work was very professional and they cleaned up afterwards. We have had a rain storm since they replaced the roof and we had no leaks.
Description of Work: Replaced a flat bitumen roof on a guest house and repaired the bitumen roof and repaired the fascia on the main house.

+ -1 moreWe had a leak in the house coming from the roof (and a leak from the drain on the landing to the stairs up to the roof). Our situation was somewhat unique in that our house is over 3 stories tall, so can only be accessed through the house, the roof is partitioned in two parts - separated by an atrium, and the front part has a Trex deck on it which is heavy and complicated to dismantle. 5 companies came to the house and Yankee Construction surpassed them all in every way. Paul, the owner, is exceptionally easy to work with. He is very genuine and helped us to problem solve around the best way to complete the job. His price beat all the other bids we received and he saved us money by recommending we only complete the back part of the roof where the leak was. The only downside was that he is busy so we had to wait a couple of months (heavy rains got in the way too) to get the work done - but it was worth it! They completed the job quickly and without any hassle. And no more leaking!
Description of Work: Removed existing tar and gravel flat roof, repaired a hole, and replaced with modified bitumen using the torched down method.

Paul Coufos, the company owner returned my call (though I later discovered he was across the country at the time) and arranged for an inspection and estimate. Tony, his foreman arrived on schedule. Though I had been called away and forgot to notify him, Tony brought his own ladder and inspected the roof. The estimate was in line with others I had received so I gave them the go ahead. As I had read in previous reports the crew was always on time, neat and professional. I kept watch for the three days they worked and marveled at their work ethic and professional expertise. They uncovered a series of short cuts the original roofer had taken 15 years earlier, pointed them out then repaired them. As an after thought I asked them to remove an old TV antenna and they did. They did not charge for the additional work. They were professional crafts people who took pride in what they were doing.

When completed, the area was cleaned of all debris. The overall job exceed my expectation and was tested by a very heavy rain a few days after completion.
