water heater repair

We've used them for a long time too. Their prices are reasonable and their service is good. The problem is that we have to keep calling them over and over again and that's what bothers me. Well now don't misunderstand me; I think I misspoke. They are responsive. The problem is that whatever products they use ... we called them primarily for the water heater. We had good luck with them in the plumbing, but whatever piping materials they used didn't last. We had to keep calling them back to re-do the same thing over and over again. That's why I switched to another provider, because I said if you can make it work, then we're gonna be happy. I don't want to have to keep paying a plumber $130; and they are expensive - they're $130 to call them out on a weekend or on overtime - $130 bucks just to come out to your house. And a couple of times we had to have them come out and re-light the pilot light because I didn't know that all you had to do was push a button. I felt so stupid. But anyway, the other provider, we like them very well. United is okay, but I like that other provider better. They did a great job on the installation. The problems that we've had weren't their fault. It's just that when they did have to make repairs, it didn't last; that's all. Their pricing was very reasonable. Would I use them in the future to install any more water heaters? I'm gonna say yes, because they didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes you get better vibes from somebody else, that's all. The last time we had them out was for ... they didn't repair anything. What they did was, twice they had to come out and re-light the pilot light. And because they came out on a weekend, they had a $130 flat rate; there was no repair involved. And that's when I called another provider and he said that the thing that keeps the pilot light on the water heater lit is all electronic. What that provider did was, he came out and he replaced that whole system and now it works fine. But it was defective; it was probably defective when it was new, but it was no longer under warranty. I don't know how long the warranty was, but we were beyond the warranty period. I could've called United but I didn't. That water heater services our entire four-unit condo building. We had no hot water. I had four units here of people that needed hot water and they came out in the middle of the night and re-lit the pilot light for me. United Plumbing has a group of service trucks and they're around 24 hours a day, so yes, I would use them again.
Description of Work: They installed a water heater. It was a hundred gallon water tank.

He way over charged. I was speaking with Robert yesterday and he said he'd reduce my bill by $300.00.
Description of Work: He came out to replace some breaker switches. Another contractor didn't think I needed all of my breakers replaced and United replaced them all. Also, the other contractor said there's no way that job should have cost $2,200.

They have been great. I have used them once or twice but they were good. They came out the same day we called them. They were knowledgeable and took care of the problem right away. They were recommended by my neighbor. They explained what the problem was and the cause of the problem. They were great in every way.

Terrible experience all around. We called our home warranty company (Fidelity) for service after finding a broken drain pipe shortly after we bought our home. The pipe was not broken during inspection, as the inspector's photos show. United Plumbing Services was dispatched and arrived within a couple of hours. I was shocked at their response time and had high hopes. Those hopes quickly faded after the plumbers entered my home. First red flag, after barely looking at the pipe the plumber declared that it was probably not going to be covered by our warranty. I asked him to explain and he said it had clearly been broken for a long time. I asked him to show me what lead him to this conclusion and he said "I just know, you aren't a plumber so you don't know." It's true, I'm not a plumber, but I'm also not stupid. I saw that he was basically going to find anything he could to not have to complete this repair through the warranty company. Second red flag, he asked how I'd known the pipe was broken. I explained that we'd had the hot and cold water pipes repiped when we bought the house, but not the drains. When they opened the wall to repipe the washer lines, they noticed the drain pipe was offset and suggested I look into it. After making a rude comment about the repipe work, he proceeded to tell me that I should have had the drains done and whatever company did the work did a poor job. I have nothing but glowing things to say about the repipe company, as did the city inspector who admired their work. Final straw, after going to his van and sitting in our driveway for 30 minutes, he came back in and said the claim was denied since the pipe was previously broken. I again asked for his reasoning and he gave me none other that the "I'm a plumber line." Unsurprisingly, he offered to fix it himself for a "discounted rate" since he "wanted to do me a favor". I showed him the door. Clearly, I'm most unhappy with our warranty company who refused the claim, but these plumbers are rude and it was a terrible customer service experience. I'd recommend avoiding them.

This was a case of misdiagnosis, overcharging, and failure to pay us back. We called United Plumbing because we could hear water running down from above our condo unit, behind our drywall. Some of this water was beginning to come through our drywall and ruin our laminate wood flooring. The water was also apparently coming through all the way down to our parking garage and causing damage. When the United Plumbing technicians came out, they cut two holes in our drywall to determine the cause of the water leak. On that day they decided that the water was leaking from the p-trap connected to our washing machine. They replaced it and charged us $175, which we paid. Just a couple days later we could hear the water again, and this time it was clearly coming from above us. We called United Plumbing, and they inspected the units above us, and found the true cause of the leak- our 3rd floor neighbor's washing machine pipes were leaking, and spilling water into the drywall space whenever they ran a load of laundry. United Plumbing fixed that leak. However, they never reimbursed us for the initial incorrect diagnosis of the problem being our p-trap! After some back and forth over the phone with one of their supervisors, we gave up. We were ultimately made whole by submitting a claim for our water damaged laminate flooring through our homeowner's insurance.

tucco crew had Called Fidelity Home Warranty with leaking and back flow problems. Joe from United was out within a few hours, on a Friday no less. Quoted us $350 to install new outlet valve, but on closer inspection found the one that the stucco crew had covered over. He dug it out, put a panel on it and rooted out the system, finding real roots along the way. The owner of United came out a couple days later to do a video check of the line. He identified the problem, gave us a quote on repairs, and let me know what our options were. He was reallyt helpful and even comped the charge for the video inspection (usually $125.00) These guys are professional and honest, wish I could say the same for the majority of the lawyers I have hired to do work for me.
Description of Work: Explose stucco-covered outlet valve and cover with access panel. Root out system. Tightened plumbing under sink. Video check.

This was the absolute WORST experience we have EVER had!! I truly recommend that you run and never look back!!! These guys were horrible in every way that could be imagined! Not only did they not follow through on the contract the guys were EXTREMELY disrespectful of us and our home and argued at every chance available to try to get out of doing work properly. These men had absolutely NO workman etiquette. They did so much damage to our house that was just un-necessary and TOTALLY due to lack of respect for other people?s property and laziness. We had purchased our home but waited for about a month to move in so we could do work on our house?one of those being re-piping. So they didn?t have furniture or anything else to work around but they still managed to knock tools through our hallway walls (which were newly painted by the sellers), crush air ducts in the attic next to where they were working, put tools and hoses onto our plants in our yard that was newly landscaped, leave cigarette buds EVERYWHERE outside and they did not put any covers to protect anything in our bathrooms. We had just put a new Toto toilet in ($600 Toto) and they put all of their tools on it as a work bench scratching it like no tomorrow?did the same on our newly glazed tub. The head workman?s name was Greg and he was awful to work with. He argued about everything and refused to follow the contract and clean up the pipes that they were removing?instead he insisted that they should be able to leave them on the ground under the house. Also our pipes also bang so loud every time we use our dishwasher or our washing machine you can hear it over the TV and it sounds like someone it literally driving into the house!! We called to talk to the owner Robert about this over and over and over until he FINALLY sent someone out 7 months later! And even though we specifically asked that it NOT be Greg, that's who he sent. And big surprise Greg did everything EXCEPT listen to the pipes?he talked on his phone and ran the sinks in the bathrooms every time we started a wash cycle. It was extremely frustrating!! Finally my husband just asked them to leave since they obviously weren't going to do anything! To this day our pipes still bang and we are now going to have to hire another plumber to come in and fix what we already paid these plumbers to do.
Description of Work: Hired to repipe our home with copper plumbing. Water runs but pipes bang excessively loud anytime we use the washing machine or dishwasher. When in our home they had NO workman etiquette. They crushed airducts in the attic which we will now have to pay to replace, they scratched the h*** out of our brand new Toto toiliet ($600), they punched holes in our walls and scrached them like crazy where they weren't even working so we had to re-paint hallways and walls that were not worked on for the re-pipe. They put a huge whole in our shower where they weren't supposed to and it took them over 7 months to get it repaired properly after our repeat endless calls to get it fixed. They also didn't properly seal around the pipes comeing to the sinks under the house so we've had bug issues and had to climb under ourselves and seal properly. They also left holes in the drywall where we had bugs coming in from which we also had to repair. They also did not put access panels where they were supposed to so we will have to have that fixed as well.

I called my home warranty for a leaky faucet that my tenants complained about. The plumber called me up the same day and arranged an appointment with my tenants for the next week. When he arrived, he diagnosed that it wasn't covered by the warranty and packed up to leave with his $55 service fee for the warranty. I asked how much it would cost to just fix the sink anyway, he said $125 to repair the valve and $250 to replace the faucet, claiming that the replacement was a real bargain because the fixture itself would cost $180 (it's a weird wall mounted corner sink so this might be true). I asked what I could get for $100, he replied that he would just repair one leaking valve then. I opted to just repair both the faucet valves. The plumber finished the job in about 15 minutes, making his hourly rate a mind-boggling $500/hr. Best part -- now the faucet doesn't leak! Downside? Water doesn't come out of the faucet either. He claimed there was nothing he could do about it and the faucet would have to be replaced. Wow, I could have done this "repair" myself by just shutting off the valve. He cut me a discount for essentially breaking my sink -- just $80 instead of $125.Do yourself a favor: don't hire this company. If your home warranty dispatches him, hey guess what, you might as well just hire a plumber you trust, it's going to cost you the same thing after they fix what this guy can't.

I was so happy when United Plumbing suggested just replacing the old clay pipes. This has saved monthly calls to the plumber to come out to do a temporary fix. It was very expensive, but it needed to be done in my fifty year old house.
Description of Work: The drain in my kitchen sink was very slow, so I had them unclog it for me. The clog was fixed in about 6 hours with the removal of old clay pipes and new copper pipes installed.
