Mike diagnosed the issue by first doing some water test to expose the sources of water intrusion. He kept me well informed of his approach, his findings and the recommended solution. The solution was to remove the incorrectly installed original wood trim and re-flash around the windows then replace the wood trim with plaster detailing. As an Architect, after Mike exposed the poor wood detailing, I understood how the wood trim was incorrectly installed when the house was built in 1980 and agreed the plaster detailing that Mike and his team are so skilled at would provide protection from the water intrusion issues caused by the previous condition. Mike and his team matched the finish of the existing plaster and the finished project was simpler and more aesthetically pleasing than the rough sawn wood trim. Maintenance will also be much simpler in future years; no need to re-caulk wood trim every few years. The work was priced well and done efficiently. The clean-up was done well. Mike The Plaster Master is a real professional in his field and I recommend him highly.
Description of Work: Mike helped us solve a water infiltration issue related to some poorly installed wood trim at some exterior windows in an exterior plaster wall by replacing the faulty condition with plaster detailing.

Mike is a true artist with unique skills hard to find these day's. He is very passionate about his work and it shows in final product. Wow! We are so happy with the work Mike and his crew did. The texture on the walls is absolutely beautiful. I shopped around before we hired Mike and although The Plaster Master wasn't the cheapest, he is by far the best interior plasterer around and worth every bit of his fee. I would recommend "The Plaster Master" to anyone.
Description of Work: We had recently removed a wall between a living room and den to open up the space and needed the interior walls re-plastered so the room looked like there had never been a wall between them. I looked on Angies List and found a guy called "The Plaster Master". Well no one would give themselves that title unless they were good so I gave him a call. Mike and his wife Virginia came over and Mike immediately knew what texture would look best in our house. Mike's enthusiasm is infectious we couldn't help but hire him.

Superb. !!! Our home is 45 + years old and we have always kept and maintained it in perfect condition over the last 30 years. Our Family Room was wood paneled from the initial construction and since Wood Panels appear not to be so popular these days we decided to remove them and paint. Oops. Besides being nailed in place they were also glued. Quite a DYI task. The stucco walls behind were a mess. From Angle s List I called Michael Casas and he promptly came over and assessed the situation and gave me a bid. I was so impressed with his professionalism and knowledge that I asked him to proceed with the replaster as well as the painting. The job took about a week and he along with his 2 crew members completed what my wife and I consider a fantastic result. Mike is a true craftsman. Besides paintying the French doors ,windows and Room Divider Mike also replaced the crown molding that I initially tried to do myself. Mike and his crew are meticiousl on the job. This applies to not only the quality of their work but also their neatness in protecting the furnishings Very impressive. I would recommend Mike to anyone .

Mike and Virginia are great. I'm a new home owner and what a welcome relief it was to have found The Plaster Master on Angie's List. Very competitive quote, very responsive, and very easy to work with. He also sent pictures to me as the work was progressing to give me peace of mind. Highly recommend!

We have an old house (plaster and lathe construction), and it is truly unique, having been built by a local artisan almost 90 years ago. It has a kind of "storybook style" to it, and Mike was exactly the right man for the job. We needed someone who understood details of older construction and how to replicate it. He and his crew were prompt, courteous, and they did the job beautifully. In addition, they did a great job of protecting the house (floors and walls) and cleaned up after themselves. Plasterwork is really an art form, and it is rare to find someone like Mike who really understands it so well. We are so lucky to have found him, and we recommend him with enthusiasm.

Michael and his crew repaired our house after we updated the electrical system. After the wiring was changed and insulated, it took a week and a half to redo the walls and paint. The results are gorgeous and you cannot tell any work was done. I do agree, other posters have said he?s ?expensive but worth it,? and it?s very true. But this is your house. This is not the time to cheap out. The entire crew was professional, clean, and very respectful of our home. And they made the entire experience go as quickly as possible

His communication was the best I've ever had; his wife Virginia always kept us updated on any delays. He and his son did fantastic, quality work. They made sure plants were out of the way, put protective covering down, inside and out, and were very tidy. They made sure everything was put back the way it was when they were finished.
Description of Work: I had water damage and some dry rot in three places. Outside, Michael found I had dry rot in the lower section of the wood frame around a long window. He dug out the dry rot then injected cement into this area; he then cemented the area where the rain water would go. Inside, he plastered an area which was damaged by the leak outside. He also re-plastered an area inside an entry closet which had rain damage.

Everything went very well! We are very happy with the results! They completed the work quickly (1 day for each repair) and matched the new stucco to the old stucco. Due to the age of the original stucco, he had to really figure out a way to make this work as they don't sell identical material anymore. He was very diligent about communicating with us so that we could understand exactly what was going on and how he was going to approach the repair. He also approached the holes in our stucco by looking at the overall aesthetics and original elements of our home and trying to keep in line with that. So, rather than look at it piece by piece, he looked at the whole picture which is really hard to find in any contractor or any person. After the repairs were complete, he and his crew cleaned up thoroughly. It is nice to work with a contractor who is friendly, honest and straightforward! I highly recommend him for this type of repair!!!
Description of Work: David and his team repaired the stucco on the exterior of our house. We have used them twice for this type of repair. First, for a window that was removed and most recently for a sliding door that was replaced. He and his team had to match the old popcorn like stucco (1948 house).

He came out on his own over the weekend and inspected the cracks in the stucco around my fireplace. (I said he could come by anytime). He said he could easily patch the cracks, but we needed to address the underlying issue causing the cracks, as his repair would be a waste. We had a lengthy discussion in which we discussed several scenarios. Ultimately, he suggested having an engineer inspect the property, which we did. That was a good move, as it gave us a clear course of action. I appreciated his honesty.

I used Michael's services in 2010 when we needed walls and ceilings repaired after being destoyed after an electrical system update. His work was so amazing that we decided to call him again after beams were installed (from the ceiling to the foundation) as part of a roof repair. Michael can match any plaster pattern. In this case, he matched 4 different patterns perfectly. He never disappoints!

Mike was professional about the job from start to finish. I was worried that something was going to be missed in between as to who will do what - no problems. Mike came out to discuss the work with the door and window contractor and both agreed on what would be done by each. Mike is the owner, manager, and stucco guy with his crew doing the work. You will deal with him from the estimate all the way through to the end. Having done some construction, it was nice to see that the new stucco blended in well with the existing stucco. It did not look like a patch job to existing stucco (especially around the front door. The metal lath prep work was done to eliminate cracks though it meant more area to stucco. The job area was kept clean and there was no washing out of stucco into the street or my garden - thanks! The interior drywall work was good with no complaints. I don't excited since joint compound can cover a multitude of sins (if necessary). In this case, everything was fine. My job was not large but would recommend Mike to anyone looking to do exterior or interior stucco work. Doing new stucco that matches existing stucco is a construction skill and not just covering up a wall. The difference is that you can't tell where the new and old meet unless you can always afford to have walls finished corner to corner.
Description of Work: We had an old aluminum sliding door replaced by a double pane sliding window. Mike was requested to close the opening around the window, plaster the outside, and drywall the inside. We also replaced our front double doors and side garage door for new doors which required the stucco to be broken out around the door and needed to be replaced once the door was installed.

Husband and wife team, they came to look at the job and provided an estimate promptly. I will warn you that he is pricey. The work was completed in a timely manner. The only complaint I have is that the texture of the holes does not match the texture of my walls and in certain lights it is very apparent. Update (9/19): When someone says they will match the extisting wall...texture should be included. He did come back out to check on the patched in question and provide a quote for additional work, this was on August 31st. On September 13th I had to email asking if they still wanted the job and if not tot let me know so I could make alternate arrangements, quote was provided on September 15th and they said they would get something scheduled that week. I promptly wrote back and told them I woudl like work done as soon as possible. It is now the 19th, and I haven't heard a single peep from them. Now...if he could only spend as much time getting back to customers as he does responding to reviews on Angie's List...

Response from The Plaster Master
The Plaster Master contacted the member and arranged a time when we could come and review our work. On our meeting we realized the member had painted the new plaster with a brush and not a roller. The Plaster Master did inform the member to apply an oil base sealer but was expecting the member to apply with a roller. The patches did not match the existing roller applied paint because the primer and paint was applied with a brush. The patches we completed did not have a "ridge" at the joints. The only problem is the primer/paint was applied with a brush which left the patches more...smooth and didn't match the roller painted finish. An application of paint with a roller will bring these patches to an exact finish. The member even showed the Plaster Master additional work she wanted completed. We are pleased with our repairs as well as the members confidence in a job well done. . Now....if she can only change the B in the quality to an A...

The crew was professional and very efficient. This was a small job but the crew was fast and neat and the work was A+. We needed to evaluate if a dryer vent could be moved from one wall to another. Mike explored the setup, breaking space in the wall and closing it up. He offered an honest and professional evaluation. He could have extended the area and also the cost but that is not how he operates. The crew was polite and the cleanup great. The work is A+. I would not hesitate to recommend the Plastermaster.

This is my 2nd time using the plaster master. We had to wait a bit to get the work performed after the estimate since they were finishing another job, and there was some delay in getting the exact date of service pinned down. But the quality of the work was worth being patient. Mike, his assistant, and son worked on the house and did a fantastic job. The plastering was seamless and they really took good care during setup and cleanup. Previously, I had insulation work done by a different contractor which left tons of dust everywhere. After the job was done, Mike's son and crew mopped all the floors and wiped down the mirrors. I was really impressed that they treated the house like their own. The house was probably cleaner after they left!

Two representatives came out, on time, and gave me an education about the process. They were non-committal about the bid, said they would get back to me, but never did. I messaged them after the meeting to thank them and tell them I valued their opinion. Never heard from them again. The only reason I'm even taking the time to write this note on AL is that somebody who doesn't follow through -- job or no job -- should be called out.

Response from The Plaster Master
We regret the customer misunderstood the non-commital about the estimate/bid. The process was explained in detail as customer wanted color match as well as texture. The exterior colored smooth texture on homes can never be matched for just a patch/repair. Color match would require re-stucco of entire wall/house which Plaster Master does not do. Our meeting was more of a consultation to explain the process and problems with repairing a smooth colored texture. The Plaster Master did receive a text thanking us for the visit. The Plaster Master regrets he did not send a follow up email declining the work. Our apologies.

I saw that the company was highly rated on Angie's List and so I called Mike and he came out and gave me an estimate. There was some miscommunication within their office, so it took a while to get the job scheduled. However, it was worth the wait! This is a small, family-run business and Mike came out with his two sons and did the work on day one of what was a two-day job. Plastering is something of an art form and Mike has been doing this for many years and is truly The Plaster Master. His sons have obviously been paying attention, as their work was flawless as well. They took great care in prepping the area before starting work and took equal care in cleaning up after working. It turned out that the job was going to come in under the estimate and so I was able to get some additional work done for the initial price. Sweet! Work was done on day two by Mike's sons and another member of the team. Same professional job as on day one. Mike made sure to call me while they were still at the house and ask about the job to see if I was satisfied. During the job, Mike even took the time to give me tips on what kind of primer and paint to use and even steered me to a fantastic local paint store. It was a pleasure to do business with The Plaster Master and I would definitely call again if I need any plaster work done.
