Swiss Handyman

I called at least four handymen before I called Swiss handyman. None of them called back. Ever! I guess the economy is back. Swiss Handyman called back right away. Made an appointment in a reasonable time frame given that I was traveling. Showed up on time. Did the work so quietly that I kept checking on him to see what was going on, and every time I peeked in he'd finished another task on the job. He was able to use the original hardware in our old house. For the doorknob, he simply took it apart, examined the mechanism, and put it back together right, which fixed the problem. He didn't have to shop for any materials, which was a pleasant surprise. Also I've had some handymen charge me for a whole tube of caulk when they use a dab. No materials charges. Arnold is pleasant, professional and experienced. I'm glad to have found a handyman I can count on.

Did not finish all work as paid for. Would not return e-mails or phone calls in a timely manner. All work that was done had been paid for. Issue is they never came back to finish additional work that had been started. A finish date was set 7 was not keep as promised.

Swiss Handyman rep came to house on time and inspected the problem of installing pull down attic ladder. He had to enlarge the existing opening and before he did he installed temporary plastic on surrounding walls and on floor. After the opening was enlarged he cleaned up immediately. Installed new joists as required and called for a second person to help install ladder unit. Some wiring had to be replaced and also moved. Plastered some areas that needed it and cleaned up. A two day job that was done very well, very neatly and cleanly. Both reps had a great attitude.

Never got a callback from this company.

Everything went very good. However, they have to come back out and check the work to make sure leak has been completely stopped.

He was prompt. I would absolutely use him again. The pricing was fair.

. Swiss Handyman accommodated my rush schedule and completed the work in one day. They obtained parts that were needed and performed all the repairs requested. I was surprised at the higher than expected cost. However, although it was more than I expected, it was worth having all my door problems fixed at once.

She listened to the work I wanted performed and made some suggestions of her own and sometimes she called out to Arnold for additional information. She was truly very helpful and a good listener. Anyway, she explained the associated costs of the job in great detail and included a discount because I was an Angie's List member. We agreed that I was going to supply most of the parts/hardware and we set a date. Unfortunately I had a very difficult time finding what I needed because my old house has some pretty difficult dimensions. Christine calmly and politely moved back my appt because I informed her I hadn't made the required purchases. After visiting several hardware stores I still did not find exactly what I needed. I called Christine again and we postponed the job. She listened to my problems and provided some advice. Even though I did not get to work with Arnold, coordinating the job with Christine was a total pleasure. She is truly on top of things. I plan to reschedule the job once I get my hands on the difficult to find hardware.

I had just purchased a wine refrigerator to put in my kitchen, and roughly knew where I wanted it to go, but had no idea whether it would fit. I had received flyers in the past for Swiss Handyman, and thought I would give them a shot. The person I spoke to on the phone (Juliana, I think her name was) was very friendly, courteous and professional, and was able to send a handyman to my home in a few days time. He quickly was able to assess the situation and knew how to make the refrigerator fit (even though it was a bit too big for the space, I think). He was able to give me a price estimate and a time (a few days later) when he'd be able to do the job. Several days later, he arrived, did his thing (lots of sawing and hammering) and a short while later, my refrigerator was professionally installed. It looks great, and although I did wind up paying a bit more for the service than was estimated (not much), I could not be any more pleased with the results. I would not hesitate to use Swiss Handman again in the future!

Very professional, very detail oriented. More expensive than most. But the quality of the work and dedication to doing the job right is what matters. Swiss Handyman delivered.

We selected Swiss Handyman based upon previous good reviews and after comparing their prices to others offereing similar services. Arnold, owner of the company, actually is from Switzerland. He embodies the essence of Swiss precision and efficiency. He was on time each of the days he worked for us; worked tirelessly and completed the work in a very timely manner. A very personable, presentable and honerable service provider from a company we would recommend without reservation. We will continue to use them for all our special projects.

very well. arnold was personally involved in the planning of the project and gave us valuable logistical advice. his employees and subcontractors are very professional - skilled and prompt. arnold and his team take pride in their work. arnold isn't satisfied with code minimums and suggests reasonable and practical upgrades. the company (and arnold personally) are very responsive and communicate well. he has done other extensive remodeling for us, and we intend to hire him again to do some bathroom remodels in the near future.

We were quite particular about what we wanted, and they were happy to discuss it all at length and give us everything we were looking for. They worked steadfastly, quickly, and did an incredibly solid job. They were always available to us when we called or had a question, and Arnold, Swiss Handyman's owner, often came by to see how the project was progressing. From start to finish, it took about seven weeks, and was a pretty big job, all told. We're thrilled with our conversion.

Arnold was extremely professional from the start to finish. He had a calculating thought process which I appreciated. I called him to install a one-piece steel 10' spiral staircase in the back patio onto/above a retaining wall. The staircase was originally from another property but still had life in it. I asked him about installing it and adding some custom work to the top to finish it out/make it longer so it would go over the 10' wall. He gave estimate of $1500-$2,000, depending on what his metal works guy could do. The staircase was 10' but needed another step/ custom platform at top to make it work, since the staircase had previously been built custom for a corner install scenario. It needed additional steel spindles and custom railing extended with a new platform, and the central spiral tube needed 4' additional length as well. He came out 1st to assess the scenario and see if the concrete existing would hold it, and to brainstorm how to get it in the ground, attach to the wall & over the top of wall. 2nd time was with a couple of guys to hold it up & take measurements. 3rd visit they created custom brackets & welded together to go over wall, it was secured & bolted into concrete ground. Then had to wait about a week for custom steel landing to be made. When it was ready, they brought it, welded it on, cut & welded pieces of pipe/tubing to extend railing & central tube, welded spindles and end posts. Next day was finishing the weld points with grinder to smooth steel. I opted to sand & paint it myself. After I sanded the whole unit over a few days, I put a few layers of primer & paint & it looks great. I recommend Arnold & his crew at Swiss Handyman.

The charges also included the parts. It has been quite helpful. I have been pleased with all the people that came out. The price was reasonable. It was ridiculous with other service providers. I was quite happy with Swiss Handyman's price. The guy who came out did a good job. It took some time for them to get back to me after I called because of the holiday. There were right on time with the appointment that I made.

He was nice and explained everything he was doing.

To sum it up. We were not very happy with this service. The person sent to our house spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to do what we wanted. Meanwhile we were being billed by the hour. We did not intend to hire a company that would send someone who was learning on the job. It took their workman all day to hook up a kitchen sink w/garbage disposal, dishwasher, the waterline for a fridge and replace two water hose faucets. When the day was over, we were informed he had to come back the next day. To our amazement, we discovered that the person threw away an important piece for the sink faucet that we dug out of the trash. The next day came and went and a different person came to finish the job. Some time later, we realized that the dishwasher still wasn't hooked up correctly. We called the company to complain about an unfinished job, and the amount of learning on the job that was taking place. THE BEST THING I CAN SAY: is that the owner of the company personally came over, ensured the job was completed and refunded us $300 due to, in his opinion, the job not being done quickly enough. Although I am dissatisfied with the experience, the owner did try to make up for it, so I must give him a lot of credit for that. They just need to hire better workers.

They went out out of there way to get to me. Their service was good. It was last minute service project.

He and two men on his crew, Grant and Tom, showed up when they said they would and got right to work. Even though they encountered a few abnormalities with the job, they pressed on, completing everything in one day's time. My kitchen is now bright as a hospital cafeteria, and it's wonderful to be able to see everything again. Their attention to detail, combined with their politeness, punctuality and ability to listen really meant a lot to me. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants the job done right the first time. Yes, their prices are not the cheapest, but in this industry, you truly do get what you pay for. They will be my first call when I need any kind of work done in the future. Professionals all the way, with excellent communication from Julianne in the office, who made sure I knew exactly what was going on and when it would happen at all phases of the job, from beginning to end. If you're looking for quality work, done right, look no further.

Very well. Smooth operation. He did have to to the hardware store which we were trying to avoid, but we were unable to get exactly what he needed, though we tried. The expense was twice the hourly cost of other handyman I was using, ($95 an hour verses $45), but he did a really good and through job and he was able to do more than one trade well.

I have used Swiss Handyman for a number of projects over the past two years. They have always been very professional and the work is always excellent. Their prices are always fair, although not always the lowest. They are extremely reliable, and they are my first choice when there are small repairs needed. I highly recommend them.

Overall we have spent a lot of money with them on many different projects over the years. They are always excellent. These guys know exactly what they are doing. They are incredibly efficient. They are top of the list. I wouldn't use anyone else. They do everything, and do it really well. They are awesome.

I was impressed with their service from the minute the owner walked in the door to give me an estimate. Arnold was polite, well spoken, knowledgeable and what I would expect from a "swiss" professional!Having just put a house back together after a fire I was weary of sloppy supposed professionals and their 30 yrs supposed experience. I called at least 3 other handyman from Angie's List before hiring this team.Having discussed with Arnold what I needed done and the level of exactitude that I required, we discussed pricing and how if I already had all the materials and parts necessary to complete the job at the site it would save me $. I made a list of what he required, discussed details down to the diamond drill necessary to make a perfectly clean hole in my new tile, the special caulk needed for the metal exhaust pipe as well as the different one needed for the roof tile etc.....They installed a kitchen hood and the needed roof exhaust as well as repaired a hole in the roof that was left by another contractor, cut a very clean hole in my new tongue + groove wood ceiling, installed a large shower rod suspended on the ceiling and wall. They also reinforced the ceiling so the rod was absolutely secure (the installer was extremely thorough).The pricing was a higher than others but I will call them back when I need any other work done.

The handyman, Rico, never showed up and he didn't call to say he was running late or that he would not be able to make it. Totally unprofessional and a waste of my time.

They were alright. I thought it was a little too high on the price.
