Solano's Tree Service

I was a customer for over three years and have a large yard. While I was away for work they ended up letting everything overgrow to the point where I had to pay a different crew thousands of dollars to fix it. I communicated my frustrations and what I expected to change and even upped the amount they were getting paid. Gave another chance. Then, my partner ended up working from home, and they noticed/found out the crew was only coming for literally 10 minutes MAX at a time for several months. I have eyewitness confirmation and documentation as well as ring camera footage. Meanwhile I was paying 150$ X2 a month for 300$ a month which is insane. I put them on notice again, gave them ANOTHER chance and even paid them to date when I truly shouldn't have. They only came for one day to make up the work. Then, the next time they came I saw myself that they were just blowing leaves around. I promptly texted Cesar that I didn' t just need leaves blown. Then when they left I looked in the bin and that's all they had done. Meanwhile, there were tons of invasive plants I had already pulled myself just sitting dry which I had asked for them to take away last time I put them on notice, and hedges were still overgrown and blocking my walkways. Cesar the owner and his company and crew are shady and unscrupulous.

This was my 2nd job hiring Solano's. After a quick visit and estimate via text message I got the crew to come in on a Saturday morning. They showed up on time, Mike, Junior and another worker whose name I didn't get. Mike left and Junior and the other worker did all the work. They trimmed about 7 or 8 trees in my back yard and some bushes up front. It took from 830-330 with Junior hauling the debris to a truck out front. Mike came at lunch to check on them and give them lunch. The guys worked very hard and did a great job. The trees were all trimmed perfectly. They cleaned up after themselves, completely, and did not damage anything. I would definitely hire them again, and most likely I will next year.

The company is very busy, so it took several tries to schedule the service and get workers to the site. The job was in an awkward location, and took longer than anyone expected. It was completed on the same day, and, as far as I can tell, seems to be functioning as expected. The price was certainly affordable, but since we did not obtain competitive bids, I have not rated the price.

They did a decent job with the plumbing aspect of the job. It was very straight forward. However, when they tried to wire up the system again, they really mucked it up. They had no tools to properly do the job. They had a single pocket knife. No wire cutters, strippers, etc. They also did not have the proper size wire connector twist caps. After an hour or so of screwing with it, they finally got all four solenoid valves to operate. But they made a rats nest of the wiring. A week later, only two of the four solenoids are getting power to them.

I liked the work the did very much. They were very prompt and clean.

I was very pleased with my service. They came out on a weekend to provide the bid and performed the service right away for the price promised. I would definitely use them again.

These guys are awesome. They are on time, fair priced and take their time in doing a good/thorough job. I would highly recommend Mike and Solano Tree Service. I will definitely be calling them again.

My experience with them was not fine. The cutting of the trees that was fine but he said that he would come back and do the landscaping for me and he did not follow through. I would not recommend them to anyone.

We got bad service. They didn't complete the job and they cut off more stuff than they were supposed to. They were supposed to dig out a big root and they didn't do it. I had to hire somebody else to finish the job. They didn't want ot give us a receipt. We called three or four times and they never responded. It was very bad service. They cut down stuff they shouldn't cut. You tell them what to do and they don't do it, they do what they want to do. They cut everything in sight. They didn't clean up the mess either. They didn't take out all of the roots, it was still blocking the pipes. They were supposed to dig it all out and they didn't do it. They did come right away.

They arrived on time. Got right to work. They did a fabulous job on the tree. They cleaned everything up. I highly recommend them!

Wonderful. They did a beautiful job, and cleaned it up completely. Very professional yet also very nice. I plan to use them in the future and highly recommend them.

I needed to have a large overgrown stand of pencil cactus trimmed back 3 feet from the house so I could have it tented by the termite people. They responded immediately, gave me a fair and affordable quote and did the job perfectly. I would highly recommend them to everyone looking for landscape needs.

Mike was a professional. We communicated through phone and email. The price was a little high even after we agreed to leave the stump, but Mike advised on how to control it from growing back. The trees were only about 7 years old, but they were fast growing and taller than my two story house. Mike and his crew did not have a lot of room to work because the trees were right up against our wooden fence, but they managed very well. We were not at the house when they cut down the trees. When we returned a day later, the driveway was clear of debris. Neither our house nor our fence looked damaged at all from their work. Good work, guys!

Mike is friendly. He showed up the next day after my initial call to give me a quote. He made some good suggestions and his expertise contributed to the successful outcome of the project. After I gave him the job his team showed up the next day and starting working. I would HIGHLY recommend his company. Good contractors like him are hard to find.

They were great to deal with and had a good price. They also gave me a low estimate.

I called for an estimate and Mike was very nice. We made an appointment for Sat at 9am. I called him on Sat to confirm and he responded he would show at 9am. He never showed and at 10am I texted him to cancel the appointment because he was late. His response and quot;Okand quot;.

We obtained four estimates. and all were significantly higher. There was a wide range in the estimates and we usually do not take the lowest bid since it may mean that the service provider is underestimating what it will take to do quality work. We chose Michael Solano primarily because of the reviews which were all positive and even exceptionally positive. The work of his team proved that the reviews were absolutely accurate. They came a little early on each day of the three days it took to complete the job. There were at least five workers and at least four were working each day.. They had all the necessary equipment They shredded all the huge pieces of tree trunk on site and cleaned up all the debris and carted it away. We would recommend him highly to any one wanting to cut down t huge trees that may be threatening their home.

I had several people from different sources come out and I choose Mike because of his reviews...But, you never know??...He was Great...got right on the job, even come on Sat. at the renters requested. Did a Perfect job...even worked with the budget I had...which was a huge help for the property owner , who is retired and living on a fixed income. This was a huge job, and a dangerous on...with garage and other homes that could be damaged if not done right...He and his work, had safety lines and knew what they were doing...Thanks you Mike, we will do business again...

They were late to arrive, but once they did arrive, they worked hard for the whole day. Mike seems very obliging and interested in giving his customers what they want. They cleaned up well after themselves and hauled all the bamboo and palm fronds away. He completed the work in one day as he had said he would. I would use him again. Probably not a bad idea to call him the day before appt. and confirm the date and start time.

When I bought my house, there was a huge star pine in the small front yard. Very close to the utility pole and almost as tall (tree was probably 40 ft. tall). It was bent at a 45 degree angle over my house. I hated to kill it, but relocating it was not an option and it was only a matter of time before something really bad happened. I got estimates for trimming and removal from 5 or 6 different services, all Angie's List A rated, and Solano's was by FAR the cheapest. I even talked to an arborist and when I told him Solano's price to completely remove the tree, he said "Oh, get it done. You won't find a better price than that." And even though Solano's was the best price, they are also licensed, bonded and insured. You don't want a worker getting injured on your property only to find out the contractor doesn't carry workmen's comp insurance. I called Mike on Friday from work around mid-morning, and he said they could take care of it that same day! Sure enough, when I got home, the tree was gone. They left no trace of having been there. Mike even ground the stump by hand since it was very near a water line and didn't charge me any extra. He came by that night and showed me where the pipe ran too, so that I can avoid it when I plant a replacement tree. I honestly don't know how they did the job, that tree was so bent, and tall, and near the power lines and other utility lines. Very professional job, excellent price, and unbelievable response time. Highly recommend.

During the LA wild santa ana winds that took down trees in Pasadena and the foothill areas, all the tree trimmers were overwhelmed. Mike gave me a quote by going to my house when I wasn't home and providing me a quote. On the day his crew came to work on 2 trees, they identified other problem areas and took care of it right there and then. I appreciate his candid advice and pricing. Some people have said they don't on Yelp but Mike is really good and trustworthy. We definitely have him as one of our vendors for our home.

Very good experience, timely and responsive. Careful execution and clean up, nice people to work with, helpful. We added some minor things at the end and they did them cheerfully without extra cost.

I had delayed having some trees trimmed, and others removed, because my experience with tree trimmers last time was very expensive. When a large branch from one tree fell into my neighbor's yard I could delay no longer. The reviews on Angie's List seemed reliable, and included accounts of Solano's Tree Service removing trees in difficult locations. I had several trees on a narrow slope between my house and my neighbors that I needed to have removed. I showed Mike the work, expecting to pay a terrible price. I was very happy with the price he gave me. I was even happier with the quality and speed of their work. They brought down the large trees and branches with no damage to surrounding plants and structures, they cut and stacked the wood that I wanted to keep as firewood, and removed the rest, leaving all the areas clean. Due to the steepness of the slope the work took two days, not the one day that Mike had planned on, but they did not rush the job or cut corners. I decided to pay Mike $200 dollars more that the agreed on price because I was so happy with the result.

As noted in other reviews, Mike Solano is personable, responsive, and knowledgeable. The yard needing work had received little or no maintenance for about 20 years. Many plants needed to be removed or trimmed way back. A very large tree needed significant cutting back, and a large palm needed to be removed. All work was done well and in a timely fashion. Although we would have preferred to pay a bit less (and other estimates appeared to be lower), it is our suspicion that the quality of work we received would not have been possible at a lower price.
