Description of Work: This company was a great find! After my mother passed away, there were many sentimental items and pieces of furniture that family members wanted sent to them from her home in Chicago to various places around the US. My brother heard about Ship Smart from a Mayflower Moving company he had contacted for a quote. Apparently the big movers all have a weight minimum of either 1,000 or 2,100 lbs which they charge no matter what the actual pieces weigh -- in my case I was getting some china, some figurines and my grandfather's antique desk which only weighed about 200 lbs. Ship Smart specializes in these smaller moves. They do not send someone out to look at the items, but rather took a detailed inventory over the phone (the young lady who I spoke to was very nice and professional and patiently explained their service and answered my questions), then e-mailed me order paperwork and insurance information. After I reviewed everything and felt comfortable moving forward I faxed back the paperwork and they arranged to pickup my items. They packed the china and other pieces and made a custom wood crate for the desk and a little over 2 weeks later I was contacted to make an appointment for delivery. Everything arrived in perfect shape and I saved over $600 from the lowest quote I had been given by othe mainstream movers! In all, four different family members utilized Ship Smart's services and we were all pleased with the results. My sister-in-law in Florida did receive a chair with some minor damage, but the insurance she took out through Ship Smart had it repaired quickly and competently. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs to move possessions which are under 1,000 lbs--they are a good value and a pleasure to deal with.
