We live on Barry Avenue and have been leasing a very lovely home for 2 years. A few doors away, 3153 Barry became available. After a few weeks of little movement we inquired and learned that the estate was eager to sell and the property was being repriced (reduced). Accordingly, we looked at the home and loved it. It was perfect for our new family. We have already qualified, in writing for a mortgage and submitted an offer. We were told the amount required to make a competitve offer, did so and waited. After a few days of radio silence, we inquired and learned that the estate had selected an "all cash buyer" for who offered the SAME amount as our bid! When we asked to counter we were told "too late, the offer's been accepted." A few weeks went by and we inquired about the status of the sale. We learned that the buyers post acceptance demands had been rejected and the house was available. As we were the back up offer, we were very excited. My wife met Sherri at the house along with our 1 year old and my father on a sunny afternoon. Sherri showed them the house, told them about the neighborhood, suggested all sorts of remodeling ideas, asked for us to visit her home to get ideas and proceeded to tell my wife that another offer had come in BUT they wouldn't qualify and that if we made a strong offer the house was ours. She specifically said "the other buyers can't come above $800,000. Make a better offer and the house is yours!" So we did, offering the asking price of $834,000. And we waited. After silence we prodded and were told that the other seller had matched our offer, provided a bank statement showing "$1,000,000" and have waived the contingencies. We demanded the opportunity to match or beat those terms and were told "too late, the offer has been accepted!" It turns out that the buyer was represented by Sherri Noel through her "teammate," Laurie Woolner. Sherri NEVER disclosed that her agencie, her partner and her were all working both sides of the negotiation. Clearly she gamed the sale by using our bid to get the price higher. I've learned from other agents that she has a reputation for this kind of dealing, had a similar on a Redwood Avenue property! She is unprofessional, deceptive and should be sanctioned.
Description of Work: Sherri Noel represented a seller of 3153 Barry Avenue, LA, 90066. As the seller's agent, Sherri showed the home and accepted offers. Her (un)professional conduct was highly irregular and I suspect in violation of DRE regulations, Realtor code of conduct and possibly state law. Sherri Noel was misleading on the 2 occasions which she coached us in preparing a bid to secure the property, provided offer pricing guidance ALL while neglecting/omitting that she represented another buyer in the multiple offer bidding. She worked us against her client (buyer) to increase the selling price and then, in both cases, told us they accepted offer was stronger than ours.

Our initial impression of Sherri No?l was that she was totally unprofessional. My wife is pregnant, and Sherri decided to play the old "lets scare the pregnant couple into believing they need to buy a home, this home, immediately...otherwise, and I quote, "I will be seeing you at MANY other open houses". Her first comment to us was something to the affect that, "oh-so you're nesting....is that what they call it". None of the typical realtor small talk like congratulations, or maybe even-ignoring the fact that she is pregnant (as might be typical to do in the real world since she is only 21 weeks and isn't showing all that much that she may, just may be fat!). Regardless, Sherri insisted, after much prodding on her part, to ,"give us the tour". To her credit she did have some good observations on the property, and what could be done with it (like adding a shower to the master bedroom). The conversation changed after she insisted on sending us material in the area. After I mentioned we were not interested and had no desire for her to be our agent, or receive a commision she exclaimed that ,"Oh...the seller pays for that". When we remarked we were using Redfin she feigned ignorance and wondered who and what they were, and why we would go with them...since, "when a realtor of a home looks at a bid they take into consideration more than just the price....they also look at who the person's realtor is". Really...is that how the ethical business of bidding on a house works in Los Angeles/Venice? After this little jewel of advice Sherri proceeded to tell us she'd be seeing us at many open houses...because, " every other person is bidding with cash...who do you think you are". From our experience with Sherri I could not recommend that anyone have her serve as a greeter at their home, much less be someone is involved with trying to sell the property to a prospective client (or-family in this case).
